  1. We received an email from the Sydney consulate indicating that they had received our application from the NVC. They sent it to the US petitioners email even though we had given the NVC the Aussie email too. The email contained a list of instructions plus an interview date. Apparently they recently changed their process and now they send one email with instructions plus an interview date.

    Hope that helps.

    hey, 3 questions:

how did you receive packet 3/4 information? postal mail or email?

who received it if it was an email (US or Aussie person's email?)

this question is directed to anyone who has been approved receently..

There was never an opition for a Aussie beneficiary to record their email address or even mobile number on any of the forms.. just postal address? does this mean by default it will be sent to the US persons email or or what..

    thanks

  2. Hi Rinni,

Thanks for your helpful response! It will definitely help us organize our papers for next Tuesday!

    Steph and Kyle

Hello, and best of luck with the interview for you two.

My emailed list from the consulate did not state for me to bring a satchel. As long as you have paid the fee on the traveldocs website (given in the email), the consulate will MAIL your passport to you once it has gone through appropriate finalisations. HOWEVER, if you paid the fee at a post office, it would be wise to bring along your own satchel just incase. I am unsure how it works if you pay via the post office as I paid online on the traveldocs website. For Australia, sitting in Administrative Processing usually only lasts a day. But all cases will and do vary. You will not get your visa to take home with you on the day as they need to print it etc. They advise you to wait a week or so. I had my interview on the Tuesday and had my passport back in my hands by that Friday the same week. I only live a few hours out of Sydney though. The TOLL service they used was overnight express however.

For my case I had to take:

Evidence of the payment to CGI Federal (The $264 AU approx fee) I took the email receipt and the traveldocs website receipt.

    My passport.

My 2 US size passport photos.

An Aus Post 3kg express satchel --- NOTE: I only took this as I was uncertain if I would still need it or not. I can now confirm that you should definitely not need to bring your own satchel if you paid online.

I also took my entire K1 folder and any supporting relationship evidence I thought I may need to aid my case. I was not asked for any extra evidence so I didn't need to. But I like to be well organised for these types of things.

I cannot add any comment for the join sponsor part of your post as my fiance was the sole sponsor for me.

Again, best of luck and I hope I could calm any concerns you both had. Remind him to relax. I was a nervous wreck for no reason at all. :)

  3. My fiance is going for his K1 interview next Tuesday at the Sydney consulate. Can anyone clarify whether they brought along an envelope for their passport or whether they gave you the visa while you waited? They didn't specify whether to bring this in our instructions, but I remember reading about this in the past. I know that the Sydney Consulate recently changed their K1 process recently so wondering if those of you who interviewed in the last few weeks could comment.

Also, anyone that had a co-sponsor feel that they scrutinized your paperwork or asked copious amounts of questions? I am hoping that we have sufficient evidence from our co-sponsor...

Thanks in advance for your help!

  4. I just received an email from Sydney consulate and they said, yes the email was intended for us, and not to mail anything in before the interview, just bring in the documents. They must be overhauling their process! I guess this saves us some worry and extra work : )

We got the same email with the checklist attached and our interview date already scheduled (and my interview date is the 8/04 as well). I emailed the Consulate on Monday to confirm if they want the documents before the interview or for them to be brought on the day. If/when I get a reply I will update this thread.

  5. Yep, we got the same thing. We are just getting all the forms/information together for my fiance to take to the interview.

Oh that's good news that you got the same email! We are scheduled for our interviews on the same day as well! Thanks for responding.

So there was no attachments to the email with the checklist or further instructions? Just a notification with an interview date?

I haven't heard of this before but i'm keen to find out if others have experienced this!

The email had a list of instructions embedded in it, and then they sent the DSL-1076 checklist as a separate attachment. The email also included an interview date and time...

  6. Hi All,

Last week we received an email from the Sydney consulate informing us that they had received our approved petition. The email was simply addressed to "Visa Applicant", and provided us with an appointment time. We are bit confused because we thought we needed to complete the DS-160 and mail back some forms (packet 3?) before they'd schedule us for our interview. The email contained a long list of instructions for K1 visa with lists of things to do (medical, background check, paying visa fee) and the DSL-1076 checklist.

The email said not to follow the instructions on the website because they are currently updating their site. Has anyone else received this type of Packet 3/Packet 4 combination email? The email doesn't really specify what to do with all of the documents (e.g., mail back before interview) except that the DSL-1076 checklist should be completed and submitted at the interview...

    Thanks for your help!

  7. Hello,

We just received our NOA2, it came after only 24 days! We were expecting a bit of a wait, and are in need of some time to get the I-134 sorted out...Can anyone tell me how much time the Sydney embassy allows after they issue packet 3? Do they specify when the documents must be returned by?

Also, any ideas on how strict they are with the I-134 affidavit of support? I am in the process of finding a new job, but it hasn't all come together yet, and our co-sponsor options don't look promising. Friends and family seem worried about being liable for another person and sharing their private financial information with others...anyone else have this problem? I have assets I can list...Do they take into consideration what kind of profession one has? Any idea if the Syndey embassy takes into account the beneficiary's finacials or allows for self-sponsorship?

Any info regarding the Sydney Embassy would be hugely appreciated!

    I-129 sent 12/30/13

    NOA1 1/6/14

    NOA2 1/30/14
