I was told by one SS office, that I needed to wait for my EAD and my I-94 was NOT expired. (like you I did not apply before I got married. I got married the day after I arrived, and I arrived in the weekend).
Then I moved to another town (my I-94 was already expired) and was told by this other SS office that I could have applied for one while my I-94 was not expired.
I was just a little bit mad with the first office....
I can't tell you anything for sure, if your I-94 is still valid, but call to more than one office if you have a negative answer from one. Because from my own experience, they don't have the same info from town to town, and some people in the office really brush you off without really checking your real options.
Long story short because of some lazy butt that didn't check information correctly I lost my chance to have a SSN before the EAD.

Congratulations! I hope you guys have a happy journey.

Oh ok . Thanks
Yay ! I'm glad for you . Gives me hope haha .
Good luck to you.

Oh ok, did you have any problems applying for AOS ?? We are at 7 months post marriage at the moment. We might try getting a loan to get it over with
What's ICE and what do you mean by detained? ?
No. I sent the package, and had my biometrics appointment one month later. So far, everything is normal.
-
No is not true.
It took me 8 months after marriage to be able to apply for AOS, also because of issues that happened out of nowhere.
They prefer that people apply as soon as possible, so they won't be immigrants ' out of status', but people are not deported, unless they break the law, I believe.
What sucks after the I-94 is expired is that you can't apply for a SSN, and if you did not before then, you have to wait until you have the EAD to apply for one.

Hello,
My fiance won't be able to come to the interview with me, but I really didn't want to be alone (seriously, can't handle anxiety alone).
I read that in Rio they allow your lawyer to be in the waiting room with you. Well, we didn't use a lawyer, but my mother is a lawyer and she would be willing to go with me.
For her to be able to go in with me would she have to have participation in our case, have signed something or anything like that?
Thanks
Well, is of course your choice to have your mother there with you.
By my experience past april, the interview was smooth and quick, the consular officer was very nice and polite. And there is also someone there to help you with the papers, she or he checks everything you got before the actual interview.
The only thing that people do not comment much, is that the interview is with opened doors, you stand at a window, so what you and the consular officer says, everybody in the waiting room can hear. I wish that they had done that differently, but the fact that the officer was nice, compensated that to me.
Good luck.

Hello everyone!
I need some help here.
So, our status finally changed to "Ready" , but appeared two different final numbers. (Your search has returned multiple results. Please select the Case Number to display the status.)
I have a daughter which was mentioned on the petition, but she won´t travel with me, (not soon at least) so I won´t apply for a K2 for her now.
Is this normal to appear on the status? What do I do now? Only fill out the DS 160 and 230 for myself? Is there anything else I must do in this case?
Any help is welcome.

My fiance and I are currently at the stage of getting her to come to the United States from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our petition was approved and we received a Notice of Action (I-797) on Feb 11th. stating that the USCIS is sending everything over to the NVC and that I should allow 30 days before contacting them. What comes next after this? What actions can we start taking now to get ahead of the game? How much longer before she gain her entry? Can anyone give me a general time frame that I'm going to be working with to finish this up. Should my fiance be setting up appointments, getting records, vaccines, etc?
Any useful information that might be able to help is appreciated!
Since you received you NOA2 in Feb 11th, you can already call NVC and ask if they received your case. They can say that can take up to 8 weeks to receive, and you should contact them after that period. Do not bother, keep calling them.
We received our NOA2 in Feb 13th, NVC received Feb 27, 2 weeks and not 8 like the agents will tell you.
We used to call everyday, until we got an answer. In the Feb 28 we called, and they gave us our case number.
I have been watching cases from Brazil, and it seems that the average time for an interview after you have your case number is between 30 - 60 days.
The beneficiary can also call the NVC in this part of the process, they will ask your receipt number from USCIS, NOA2 date, names and dates of birth from both of you.
Your fiance could start getting the vaccines already, I did, because is one less thing in the way, and in Brazil most of them are for free. They are not required now, but they will be when the AOS comes.
About the medical exam, some say that you should wait your interview date to schedule, but you can do that once you have your case number from NVC.
OBS. Create a timeline about your case, that helps to keep track of your process.

I have ton of stuff that I obviously cant take with me in one go, try to cargo your stuff to the US prior to your departure that's what I'm doing
I've cargoed 60kg and I'm sending another 50kg this coming week and I guess I still will be carrying two big suitcases with me
I hate to carry lotta stuff with me to the airport
on top of my baggage I have my little four legged furry friend and her cage
I thought I might throw some of my stuff out to be lighter but when I look at my them I feel I want them aaaaall
So yeah try to cargo your stuff with the airport
I know. I look at my stuff and think about the same think.
I will try to throw some old notebooks, donate some old clothing that I do not use. It is weird.. you have some clothes in you dresser that you never use.. okay.
But then you think about not having them, then your mind is like -NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks for the response.
I will try to call the company here, to have an estimation of price.

So I got the RFE. All it is is needs statement of intent from fiance. Can I just print the one out here on VJ for him to sign with his name and such or does he need to write it out?
Yes. Tell him to replace that info there with the info and names from you two, ask him to not forget to sign by hand, and mail to you ASAP.
Good luck.

As far as I know, you pay the visa fee that is $240 at the time of the interview, in the consulate cashier.
There is only one fee (as far as I know) after those $340 of the I-129F form. Besides of course, medical fees, etc.
The consulate in Rio does not require the petitioner presence, but they encourage.
I think that if you can manage to come, do it. Not only to make extra points at the interview, but to be there for your fianceé.
Good luck!

Hi everyone!
I am curious about your experience with the prices of fees for extra weight in your baggages, or if you used another service to send your stuff to USA?
Since the moving to USA is permanent, I imagine that nobody wants to leave stuff behind.
There is always something that we can for sure leave, but we spend a life accumulating books, clothing, shoes, etc.
I just want to have some notion, because it is one more thing to save money for.

We sent ours 01/15, was delivered 01/17 in Dallas. Now waiting for NOA1.
Good luck for all!

Yes, I believe Brazil does accept co-sponsors. Choose the parent with the most income to meet the requirement for their own household size plus the foreign fiance(e). There is no combining of incomes with the I-134, so just one parent will fill one out as the co-sponsor. Of course the USC petitioner still fills out their own too. The supporting documents should be as recent as possible, so try not to get anything too far out from the K-1 interview.
Only the first in a series is required for AOS, so you do not have to worry about waiting to get them all before filing. The only ones that are required for AOS are MMR, Tdap or TD, varicella(unless you already had chickenpox) and a flu shot(during flu season only). Here is a chart that shows which ones you need by age. Most of the vaccinations will be marked 'not age appropriate'. http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#tbl1
The K-1 visa expiration date will be tied to your medical, so do not get the medical too soon. The K-1 can be good for 6 months from the time of approval. If you get your medical 3 months before approval, then your K-1 would expire in 3 months instead of 6. Then, you would have 3 months to enter the US. So, do not get the medical extremely early because that will leave you a much smaller window to use your K-1 to enter the US. For the purpose of getting the K-1 visa, the medical is good for 6 months. For the purpose of AOS, you can file within a year of your medical date without needing a new one.
Thank you!!
Thank you all for the answers!!

I hope you guys can help me. I know that other people already made the same questions, so I ask for patience. I am still learning how to deal with this website, I
About the affidavit of support, does anyone know if the consulate in Rio accepts co sponsor? My fiancee does not make enough income to be the only sponsor for me. So we are going to have his parents as my co sponsor.
Also, the form I-134, the taxes returns, bank letter,etc.. do they have like expiring date?
For example, the bank letter must be at tops 6, or 3 months prior to the interview?
We want to start collecting everything for the affidavit support. We know that the NOA2 can take sometime, but also getting all the papers together can take sometime too.
The vaccinations are required? And which of them are? Because I could go after this. I read a post about vaccinations, and there are some that you cannot take together, you must wait like 30 days between them. And I do not even know if is really a requirement.
The medical consultation and exams for how long are they good? I intend to book for me as soon I receive the NOA2. Because I saw cases that from the NOA2 to the interview they gave like 20 days. And I must travel far away to do that.
About the police certificates, do they have a expiring date too?
Thank you very much.

Hello!
I have been searching people from Brazil that are going on the same process that my fiancee and I. I am sure that there are more topics about this here, but I am in a hurry.
We will send our petition this week, and I have some doubts about what to send from our conversations on Skype, facebook, etc.
Can you give me some clue, tell me what you guys did? I know that also depends on each Embassy.
We have like for 2, 3 days 200 pages! And total time 8 months of conversations.
Do I copy to Ms. Word, or print screen is better?
I found people saying that 15 pages, or something would be enough. Showing serious conversations that shows our commitment and love.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you.
