  1. I had a CICS account established in 2015 when I applied for US citizenship, and I became a naturalized citizen in 2018.

I am going to apply for immigrating my sister now and thought I could/should use my existing online account to make a new application for her. But in filling out a new online I-130, it wants my alien registration number. This is despite my answering yes to being asked if I’m a US citizen. Plus, I don’t see how my old alien registration could apply since I’m now a citizen. However, when I try to leave it blank, It responds with a message

“This account has already been verified using a different A-Number. The A-number in this accounts profile is xxxxxx2465.  If you need to apply for a benefit for someone else using the A-number you entered, you should sign out of this account and create a new account for them at myaccount.uscis.gov.”

So it quotes my alien number from my previous application.

In spite of the message it lets me continue filing out the form. I’m just not sure at this point if this will have some detrimental effect in the processing. I suppose I could just go with the paper form but it looks like they want you to have an account.

Has anybody had any experience with this or have any idea how to proceed?

    thanks

  2. I-797 expires 12/16/2017. Extension letter is dated mid Sept 2016. So he was saying the extension  expired mid Sept this year. He also said that was the training they were given.

I should mention that I was prepared and carrying a copy of the USCIS manual pages that explains the I-797 and irrelevance of the receipt date in case of a problem with an airline. But decided it was not going to be in my best interest to bring it up with him at that point.

At the rate CSC is moving will probably have to go for infopass and any of its issues after Thanksgiving.

  3. Nearly sent to secondary today at LAX with expired GC and the I-797 extension. This hasn't been a problem before,  but today we're fast pproaching the expiration of the I-797 and the IO wanted to use 1 year from the I-797 RECEPT date and was talking secondary. I strarted to tell him that was a common question among us and it was 1 actually year added to the green card expiration date. Knew immediately that was big no no. Look on his face was clear. He wasn't going to be told correct or incorrect by an applicant and spouse. Backpedaked a bit and finally sent on our way like he was doing is a favor.
