Hello,
So we are on step 19 of the K1 fiance visa process shows in the below link.
http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow
We received our certified marriage certificate in the mail yesterday and first thing I did was fill out the SSA form to change my wife's last name on the social security card.
I got to the SSA office this morning with all of the required documents and the guy at the window told me "I need to change her name with immigration first". I had a blank look on my face because this was the first time I had heard this and I wasn't sure about what he meant by "immigration".
I did ask him if he meant USCIS and he said "yes" but I didn't feel confident in his answer. After leaving I called USCIS and they didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about. They advised me to make an info pass appointment which I have not done yet.
I need advice from you guys on how you guys changed the name with SSA once getting married. Did anyone have to change their name with "immigration" prior to changing with SSA?
Thanks

Hello All,
I would love to know what the updates mean as well. I am getting sick/annoyed of the wait/process, i'm starting to go into depression because of how long it is taking. My fiance was put in A/P after the interview, they didn't tell her she was approved but took her passport. They did say "it won't take long" at the end of the interview.
Below are the updates I had:
Feb 25 - Interview date - Status changed to A/P
Feb 26 - Status date updated
March 5 - Status date updated
March 13 - Status date updated
March 23 - Status date updated

Hi.
Nothing yet! counting the days though! I am happy to hear they told you it wouldn't be long and even to see that someone was told the same thing around the same time we were. Hopefully that is the case for my husband and I. I wonder if everyone around that time was told the same thing. My husband had in interview 2/23 so by that date it is almost 3 weeks, but by the day we were told we are in AP it has been two weeks.
I hope we get phone calls this week. Did they tell you why you were in AP?
Unfortunately, they didn't say why we were in A/P but I have accepted the harsh reality that this could take up to a year to process... We waited 9 months for our NOA2 and now this A/P might take even longer. There is no telling how long A/P will take and there is nothing we can do but wait

Yes I did. It was updated on 2/27 which is the day the consulate called my husband to tell him he is in AP. However the CEAC site doesn't say administrative processing. It says that we are ready for our interview. That is why my husband and I are hope its just one week and they will call him for another interview (the consular that called him said they may need him to come back in and interview again).
Is that a good sign or am I probably getting my hopes up?
Do you have any updates on your case?
My fiance had her invterview on 2/25 and was put in A/P. They took her passport and said "it won't take long" and it has been two weeks so far... are you still in A/P?

I recieved my NOA 1 first week of March and still have not been approved... Submitted a request for update for being outside the processing time two times and both times was told that background checks were pending... really really annoyed of the process now and almost down to 0 patience. I don't have any criminal history so it is bull s*** that it is taking this long.

Congrats to everyone getting the approvals! I'm still stuck waiting for my NOA2, the wait is getting worse everyday

Got our NOA1 on March 7th, still waiting for the NOA2 which seems to be taking forever
SSA told my wife to change last name with "immigration" first after getting married

Thank you for the helpful information. I guess we will wait to change the name on the SSC until AOS is completed.
My wife got her first SS card within 2 weeks of being here. We went to the SSA office 4 days after she arrived and they had her in the system. I think since switching to the electric I-94 the process is a bit faster.
