  1. Anyone with experience please help me. Here is my problem. My husband and I are both Muslim. We met on a Muslim Marriage website and decided to marry within 4-5 months. I spent a month in Morocco and have not been back since that time. We are now at the National Visa Center and about to submit our AOS and IV package. Its almost our one year anniversary and I can finally take off work to go see him again but if I wait I can go in July and spend part of Ramadan with my husband which I would love.

The problem is we have 2 red flags.....short time knowing each other and face time is only the one time so far. Things are finally moving fast and I worry he may get his interview before Ramadan. My question is should I just go soon and see my husband now so we have more face time before the interview? Or would they be understanding at the Casablanca Consulate that we are Muslim and want to spend this religious holiday together?

I have no family that is Muslim so my past Ramadans I have spent alone. But if it will jeopardize my husband's interview I would spend it alone again. I miss him terribly so I am OK with either decision. So pls, someone with experience or knows anything about the Moroccan consulate, your input would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi Saylin

Just when I thought I had nothing left to worry about something else crops up! I saw a post earlier about filing taxes as single or married and I spoke to my wife and she has filed as single this year even though we were married! :-/

She was advised to do this by her employer because I do not currently live in the States and do not have a SSN etc.

I've read contrasting advice on this. Some posts say the consulate does not care which way you file and others say it can raise a red flag.

It's too late to change now as everything has been accepted by NVC, so I'm hoping you have some good news for me!

Are we likely to be ok?

    Cheers

I also filed single on my taxes and it was processed but now I am amending my tax return. I did not see all the post until after the fact. I have now filled out the W-7 form for my husband to sign so I can resend an amended tax return.

  3. Marriage termination: The divorce decree submitted does not show evidence of being signed by a judge or magistrate, or recorded.

So the RFE is about my husbands decree of Divorce not signed by judge ,so my husband just called Wyoming and they said it is signed just our copy was not ...But the signed copy should arrive in a week or so.

I'm glad the RFE was not for something stupid and was solved fast biggrin.png

    Izzy

yayyyyy Izzy......see I told you not to worry so much. That it would be something simple. Now I bet you and Jamie will fly through the rest of the process. So happy for you that it is easily resolved.

  4. He is right , If one of you is Muslim and other Christian then may be they are not satisfied with this relation or marriage ...

Specially in Pakistan/Islamabad Embassy it is very hard to justify

They may not be satisfied with it but in Islam it is allowed for a Muslim man to marry a Christian or Jewish woman. I is NOT allowed for a Muslim woman to marry outside her religion. It sounds more like a stall tactic to me and if they have presented enough evidence of a bona fide marriage this couple has waited long enough to be united. An age difference was mentioned but not how big an age difference. Maybe that is the reason for the hold up. I could be wrong.

  5. OMG...so I just looked everything up and my "adult" daughter falls under the dependent criteria because I claimed her on my income tax. I NEED a sponsor. This so sucks....next thing to worry about sad.pngcray5ol.gif

Do you own your own house Lisa? Or have assets you can use? I thought I was going to have to use a co-sponsor because my income fell below the poverty guidelines but I read that if I take the value of my house, subtract what is left on the mortgage, divide that by 3, and add the result to my income, it puts me well above the poverty guideline.

Anyone, if I misunderstood this or I am incorrect, please correct me!

  6. That's good to know ,when i am with my husband i would not care but now that he is on his way back i keep driving myself sad and depressed thinking about all the things that might go wrong.

Thanks for the hug, i just love VJ i dont know what i would do without it !

Hang in there Izzy. Jamie and you have tons and tons of proof of bona fide marriage and face time together. This is just a bump in the road. I feel like its probably something simple and soon you will speed pass us all to get your visa, insha allah. One day you two will visit me and Mohammed, and we will laugh at how crazy this whole process made us.

Watching Jamie leave and not knowing when you will see him again has made you extra sad so I am sending you extra "hugs" today.

  7. Hi to everyone,

Since, I am September filler and recently I have been transferred to some other USCIS office (not sure were). I have one kind request to some August Fillers to please explain, how long does it take after transfer. I have spread sheet of August filler and most of August fillers are also transferred to some USCIS office. Is there any of them got NOA 2 within a week or couple of weeks.

    Thanks

I got transferred on the 5th approved on the 11th......so mine took 6 days. I could not believe it after sitting for 6 months in Kansas NBC. National Visa Center received it on the 20th. all this took place in less than a month.

  8. OK folks.....just so you have an idea of how fast some of the petitions are moving, this is what has happen for me this month:

Feb 5th - Transferred to CSC

    Feb 11th - Petition Approved

Feb 20th - NVC received my case file

Called NVC today and spoke to Todd. He said to call again 20-30 days from receipt for IIN

I have been reading and reading and reading post and flow charts regarding forms and evidence to send to NVC. Trying to get everything ready but there are just some things that still are confusing to me. Everyone else seems to have a good grip on what to expect and to do......starting to feel like an idiot !!!

  9. I would love to go live with my in his country. We even talked about it. But for me, it was just too much to give up. Jobs are not easy to find there. I own a house here. I have a son who is a quadriplegic and medical issues come up all the time for him. Then there is my brother who has stage 4 cancer and is just buying time right now. No miracle cure for him. If was there I would be worried about how I would get home quickly in an emergency. In the end it was better for my husband to come here to be with me. That is how we decided to go through this process.

Am I whining? You bet! Am I pi$$ed off that illegals got to go to the front of the line? Absolutely!!!

  10. I think this whole immigration process creates so much stress on our relationships that there are times that it brings out negative feelings. We had 30 wonderful days together. The first 8 days was spent sleeping apart until we were married. And there was his family there with us to make sure we did so, lol. I felt so close to my husband when I came home but 9 months later I have days I feel like we have become strangers again. Sometimes I just get angry over things that don't even matter. Then other days like last night, we were both laying in bed with our laptops remembering things we did in those 30 days that made us laugh. At one point my husband lean forward and said, "I feel such love and peace when I talk to you". Then we went to sleep with skype open so we could hear each other breathe or wake up to see each others face. My daughter finds it odd that we do that but its the closest thing that we have to being together. This wait is so hard but I can't imagine being with anyone else. And I agree with the poster that said our lives are on hold.

  11. I haven't been on VJ much the past 2-3 days as I have been working and in my free time trying to figure out what is needed for the National Visa Center. I usually try to keep up with all the august filers but now I have fallen a little behind.

I am right there with you Lisa............confused, lol. I understand my part but my question is.....once we get the number from NVC do I just go pay the fees and the DS-260 package is a hard copy mailed to my husband or do we log on to some site to electronically fill in the forms? Its all kind of confusing. I understand what is needed just not how we get it.

Deep I am so so happy for you. congratulations......what a roller coaster ride you have been on.

Now where is Izzy? Did you get approval yet my friend? I haven't seen you for while now.

  12. Toda ArthurandMarcela!

Yea, also got 2 mails, the first was transfer to "other office" and the second to "local office", why is that?

Just cause that is how the USCIS rolls........don't let it bother you. It happened to all of us. I got 5 text and 3 emails when I got my transfer. The transfer date changed from 3rd the 5th on one of the emails and then got the "your petition has been transferred to your local office". I means nothing.

Just wait for the hard copy in the mail. It will tell you the Service Center it was transferred to. I got my approval a week after my transfer. So no worries, be happy. The ball is rolling now!

  13. Okay so i'm living in morocco i can tell u that it's simple to locate him , u would come to morocco and not the consulate bcz it's "USA service".

So u gonna come to his home city . i suppose it's eljadida . U gonna go to the police office holding ur "act of marriage" in ur hand.

They gonna look for him and tell u where is he smile.png

    hope this help u out

That is assuming he is even still in Morocco. He has been gone 6 months and has his U.S. citizenship. I would say it is more likely he is back in the USA. Besides, plane tickets are expensive and so is divorce fees. The cheapest way to achieve her divorce is running the ad. Why waste her money really? He has cut off all communication with her and seems to not care.

  14. Another thing that came to mind, if you married in Morocco does he need something signed by you in order for him to re-marry in Morocco? If so....karma smile.png get your legal divorce here and let him figure that one out on his own end. Anyone know the answer to that? How do you divorce in Morocco if the couple is no longer communicating? Islam still recognizes his marriage and will he be allowed to re-marry without divorces papers in Morocco?

In Islam a man can marry up to 4 wives if he can provide exactly the same for all of them......not an easy thing to do btw. But I can tell you this, when I married in Morocco one of the questions on a form we had to fill out ask if there was a first wife and did the man have the permission from her to marry again. Still I know of some other Moroccans that took a 2nd wife without the 1st wife's knowledge and/or permission.

  15. It might be, at least our case is very simple as you said no previous marriage, no kids, been together for 4 and 1/2 years and lived together 3, no high risk country, no overstay nor previous visa issues.. Or maybe is just luck..maybe someone else can share their experience!

And congrats to all transfers and approvals!!

nah....I don't think that is the case. My situation involved divorces and it is a high fraud country.

wanted to congratulate everyone on their transfers and approvals......I know what a relief it is to see some action on your petition. I have been reading up and working on paperwork for the past 2 days to get ready for NVC. What a headache, lol. I also had to amend my 2013 federal tax return. I know its been discussed in other threads but pls, someone who has done this before.......will IRS really accept my return if I just write in NRA where the SSN belongs?

  16. Years and years ago I went through a similar problem except I was married to an American citizen. He left and I had no idea where he was. I did know he was out of state and in the military. Back then the military protected the men from their wives no matter the circumstances of the marriage. They refuse to give any information. So my attorney told me to do the same thing everyone here is telling you. I put an ad in my local newspaper that I was suing for divorce and anyone of interest needed to come forward if they disputed it. I was required to run the ad for 1 month. Of course, no response and I got my divorce.

  17. its so true..that's why I have backed off..besides when I was in the hospital and bored out of my mind. Hoping for an approval today! Hey Eastyo....I know they've been doing transfers at night...but are approval notifications at night or during the day?? I cant remember.

Good luck today everyone. hopefully they work their buns off today since they need to catch up between the holiday and all this STUPID SNOW! im sooooo sick of seeing this white #######!

Lisa I got my approval late in the night so I didn't even realize it till the next day. I had checked my status that night with no changes. The next day I logged on to VJ and read aditya's post he was approved. I immediately checked mine and couldn't believe it. I have no idea when it was changed.
