  1. First off you'll find lots of filipinos and filipino stores are hard to find everywhere(even here in DC), they don't seem to advertise well, but they are there. Once you meet a few of your countryman, you'll know where everything is. Bet there is even a local festival. lol

Weather is the biggest adjustment you'll have. Be sure and learn to drive if you don't already know. Families in America are not as close, so you may feel lonely at times. Seafood is gonna be a challenge in Columbus. It won't be fresh and the fish here doesn't taste as good.

As for the previous poster about Maui. You won't find good Mangos here, you have to go to Hawaii. lol.

    Good luck!

  2. There are several people that have reported that when they put in a request for expedite it went to another pile and are waiting for review. Me thinks this has slowed down the process for these filers - especially those in the Philippines that felt their case warranted expedite because of Typhoon Yolanda - this may have clogged the workload for those who are really in dire need of a review. If your fiancee lives in anyplace other than the hardest hit areas such as Davao and Leyte - shame shame.

My wife does not live in the typhoon zone, we did not ask for our case to be expedited, but we were transferred to Nebraska 20 Nov. It seems as if all Filipino cases are being handle in a faster than normal fashion. I filed my petition in Oct and certainly did not expect things to be decided in the next 60 days as the notice says.

  3. Received my receipt notice:)) For my case transfer.. Is it good or bad?? It also said I should receive notice of action on my case within 60 days:))

Mine got transferred from NBC to Nebraska on 20 Nov. Only a month after filing. They sent me notices 3 days in a row that they transferred it. Guess they were as excited as me :-)

Anyway rumor has it they are expediting Filipino applications because of the typhoon. On the USCIS website they say they are expediting paperwork for Filipinos. This includes family applications for your spouse. Don't know if you have to ask or it's automatic, but I'm glad it's moving.

    Good luck.

  4. So do any of you actually have facts to back up his opinion that he will have problems or is this just speculation. I "guess" that if you did this every couple of years and had little income they might be suspicious. But if you have a solid income/job and there are a few years between marriages there is nothing to suspect.

I'm actually in a similar boat, been married twice before and just remarried. Not worried one bit.
