We are thinking of this also. We were told before we got married by a US Navy (3 chevrons)guy, that once I had my USC that we should go after my husband's Canadian citizenship. We have been thinking about it more and more but as of yet not looked into it. That said, I'll be following this post to see what comes up.

Does anyone know what I need to do to renew my canadian passport. I don't know what I need to do. I was planning on going to the passport place in surrey in the early spring, but really don't know what I need to do.I could really use some help if anyone has any ideas, i'd be grateful. Thanks,

well I recieved emails and a letter stating that they move my case, only the letter which I recieved today told me where my case was sent. then on the 11th I checked my case status and it said my card was ordered and when I went to the PO today there was my PGC I was floored and had to show my husband to make sure it was real. I think we are still going to apply for my citizenship right away though. I am scoring about 98% on the online test so I think I'll pass. Good luck to all those still waiting.

Our status did not change. The updated date was modified the day of biometrics and the day after, but the status is still received and pending.

we are still waiting for ours and our case status still says received and pending and it is coming up one year, we have not move or anything nothing has changed since before we got married.

I am curious, On my NOA it says my conditional status is extended for 1 year. Extended from when? the expiry of my temp GC or 1 year from the date on the NOA? Does anyone know? my NOA date is 1/22/2007, so the 1 year is coming up, do I need to make an appointment to get my passport stamped for add extention or am i ok until the end of March, which is when my temp GC expired?

we applied in Jan. their date is 01/22/07 and all we have had to date is the bio app. back in Feb and nothing since........drumming fingers waiting. I noticed they seem to be working on dec. 07/ 06 files now. so hopefully we will hear soon. I have been more or less out of status since 03/28/07 and haven't wanted to go any where without a GC, I hope there is no emergency with regards to my family in Canada. It has been a really testing on more than one leave. good luck and let's get some MOJO going for those of us waiting for the GC.

we sent my removal in january 7. 2007. They have the file recieved January 22, 2007. according to process times they are working on November 12, 2006 files. I can't believe it has take this long when they have all our info 10 times over, haha, not quite I guess but it sure seems like it. Any one else dealing with NSC?

I am Canadian I must say I love my birth country and I love my new country and I am proud to hold my head high for both!!! I guess the best thing too say is I am proud to live in North America and be an American!!!!

there are many good things about both countries.

Auto insurance is better as insurance and registration are done at the same time and you can't have one without the other which makes more sense, no wonder so many people here drive without insurance.

medical plan is better in canada; however, techy wise it seems better in the USA

food is about the same

area wise of both counties I would pick the western usa and the western provinces of canada.

British Columbia is one of the most beautiful of provinces with a divesity of geographics, from deserts, to mountain peaks similar to the alps, to ocean beaches and white sand beach lakes, to vineyards and orchards. as for the climate it is much the same as northern usa.

Alberta is mostly plains similar to wyoming/oklahoma

Saskatchewan is farm land and very flat

if you want cold the the northwest territory and yukon territory and nunatuk territory on the artic ocean is cold.

the other thing about the climate in the winter is drier on the western sideso even though the temperature says 20 it feels warmer than most of us envision 20 to feel. a thick buffalo sweater is all you'll need. and snow snow snow, snomobiling, ski downhill and cross country, ice fishing, snoshoeing, snogolf( what a kick) things that can be done in both countries

fishing is fun in both countries, camping is pretty much the same and the people as alot the same.

so even though I voted Canada as that is the country of my birth and that is where my children live I basically think both countries have there good and bad points. It is all in how you view your life and the world around you. thinking positive brings positive. being with the one you love and who is your kindered spirit means it doesn't matter what country is better no matter where in the world you are from or where you are living.

by the way both came with my maiden name, which bugged me. my conidtional green card has my married name. I called the customer service number on my letter and they told me I would have to try and get them to change it at my bio appointment and take my marriage license and passport(which is still in my maiden name as I haven't want to let it out of my sight until I recieve my PGC). If the stack of papers I have matches what INS has on me there should be no reason for that type of mistake.

I have to drive 3 hours to my bio appointment so i feel for people that have to drive along ways for a 5 minute appointment. I would thing a person should be able to go to their local state police station and have that info done instead of the added expense.

This whole process is very expensive and makes it difficult for most newly weds to make ends meet and start their life together. My personal opinion is they should charge the people that are entering ellegally not those of us trying to do it all above board. just an opinion so don't jump on me for it.

I think it was pretty equal on cost sharing. I may have had a few extra expenses like my passport. but it all works out in the end. and we are married and cost sharing goes on. good luck fellow travellers of INS
