  1. Slow there in Baltimore, too? I know it's silly to be frustrated, but I feel as if this is the only thing that's keeping me in semi-limbo! I'm married, we have a beautiful daughter, I'm employed - I hate having it hanging in the back of my mind! Throughout this whole K1 Visa process, there have been so many "what ifs", I feel as if though we need something definite and concrete now!

Have you thought about extending your employment authorization card? Will it be expiring within the next couple of months? I am worried about applying for an extension and paying the fee just to have my green card come shortly after.

  2. This is all I got in the email. No mention of the express post envelope.

The following items are required before your visa can be issued. Please refer to the list below of items that will be required on the day of your interview.

P PASSPORT: A passport must have at least 8 months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa.

P POLICE CERTIFICATES from United Kingdom (if you have resided there for more than 6 after reaching the age of 16 years old)

And Canada (if you have resided there for more than a year).

Submit the originals and one photocopy. Click here for instructions as to how you may apply, police instructions.

    Submit the original and

    Submit one photocopy

    P FEES:

K Visa applicants this is NOT payable at the Consulate, please see our website for payment instructions. Bring the receipt for this payment to your interview.

P K VISA APPLICANTS ONLY: For the return of your documents (passport and visa package, once the visa is issued), please login to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/au/index.html and create a profile. You must ensure you provide the address listed is where you wish to have the documents returned. It must be an Australian address.

    Additional Information:

Immigrant visa processing times vary. There may be unexpected ineligibilities that become apparent only at the time of your interview which require additional time and processing. For this reason, you should not make any irrevocable arrangements, such as purchasing non-refundable tickets, selling your home, or quitting your job, until after your immigrant visa is actually approved and issued to you.

Please ensure that the panel physician provides you with a copy of Form DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation Worksheet as part of your permanent health record. You should hand-carry this document with your sealed visa package and any other medical paperwork, which you will only receive once your visa has been issued. If you did not receive a copy of the DS-3025 Vaccination Documentation Worksheet we can provide one for you at the time of your interview

  3. Hi Everyone,

I received my packet 3 email for my fiance K1 visa at the end of October and am currently going through the not so fun process of getting my Victoria Police check. After having them incorrectly send my application back to me due to after an error made on their end, I have been waiting for it since Fri 8th November 2013.

However, there does seem to be some confusion about whether or not to get a name check only or fingerprint check. (I got a name check only. I have written two emails to the U.S. Consulate General, Sydney and received the following reply assuring me that a police name check only is fine. I have attached both emails.

As there seems to be some confusion however, I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has submitted a police name check only as part of their packet 3 and received the a-ok and got the visa appointment set and packet 4.

Thanks heaps and good luck to everyone out there, it feels AMAZING to know other people are out there going through the same thing as me and my American fiance!

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

Note: you only need to apply for 1 Australian police certificate.

Your certificate can be based on a name check or fingerprint check.

If it’s based on a name check, it must contain all aliases previously and presently used. Failure to provide a name check certificate with all aliases may result in the consular officer refusing your application for a police certificate based on a fingerprint check.

    Thank you

    Subject: RE: K-1 Fiancé Visa

I have been informed in the email below that in regards to the Australian police certificate "Your certificate can be based on a name check or fingerprint check."

However on the US Embassy Canberra website http://canberra.usembassy.gov/iv_faqs.html#police it states:

"What sort of police check do I need? Do I have to apply in each state?

The Australian police check must be done on the basis of a fingerprint check."

Which do I need, a fingerprint check or a name check?

    Kind Regards,

    Emma
