I'm leaving for Army BCT for National Guard in April and then AIT right after that. What do I need to do before I leave regarding paperwork to be able to Naturalize during Basic? Some people say get your fingerprints done and other said they'll take care of everything during basic?
Thanks
Ask your Recruiter bro.. He'll square you away.

Each agency/dept handle security matters differently.
I'd like to also note that all military personnel do not hold the same level of clearance thus procedures will vary. (higher level requires further supporting docs)
Typically for folks in the military, your sec officer will require a marriage certificate before beginning your re-adjudication process. (tedious steps mentioned in my previous posts generally not required)
My original post may be more applicable to those cleared for "higher" access...for those extra "careful/paranoid" folks reviewing this thread but won't post questions for opsec reasons ;-)
(Please keep in mind I'm simply sharing situations which I've dealt with...not citing any official rules & guidelines on marrying a foreign national (if such a thing even exist))
Or just ask your security officer for questions.

Quick question. Would I still need a co sponsor if I just got two new jobs this month? 1 full time and 1 part time? Both pay good.
Thank you.

You are only approaching the visa application phase at USEM, the I-134 is the form used at the embassy with the K-1.
As for income, it is GROSS income before taxes.
Correct if I'm wrong but on the I-134 and the I-864, both forms are asking for the GROSS income BEFORE taxes?
-
You can only expedite a K1 Visa if your fiance is deployed overseas and you have to attach his deployment orders to your application. Other than that, enlisting in the Army won't get your application expedited.
-
As one of your sources of income yes, but not primary source of income. My hubby is natl guard as well. Tax docs sufficed but I do remember at the interview being asked what his civilian job was
Howzit Aris,
Wasn't sure at first what you were asking... Had to look up the forms you mentioned, cause it's been awhile since I filed my I-129. So I guess you're asking if you can use your orders as proof of income? If so, I don't think it would work because the orders don't show any actual income. You'd still have the W-2s or tax transcripts from those years showing your annual income. You can possibly use your LESs as additional proof showing the non-taxable allowances you received during those periods.
You could possibly use those orders as proof of having met in person in the last 2 years, or for proof of a relationship, but I would include additional proofs like hotel receipts, credit card bills, etc and of course the best proof, pictures.
Mahalo guys. Appreciate it. Helped me alot. Although the Reserves is not my primary source of income, I'll still use it.

You are confused. We have no plans to move to the USA anytime soon. We plan to live in Singapore, and to retire in Mayanmar. I have no need to apply for a K3 or equivalent.
I am 47, and so is my fiancé. I have no children. My parents are gone. The USA has no long term future (it will go eventually go bankrupt). I will visit my brother from time to time. There is nothing I want there. My fiancé does not want to live there. She considers the USA too violent.
I am a PSTD US military veteran. I cannot cope with the high stress society in the USA. I am done with war and anything that reminds me of it. Asia is peaceful. There are lots of men like me who have retired in Asia to forget. If there is anything in this world I want to forget, it is Kuwait.
My apologies. I was a bit confused also. I guess thats a good thing retiring in Asia. Preferably Singapore. I've been there when I was on leave, and its awesome. Although, they have a small Navy Exchange store, they still have the same prices if not cheaper there.
Happy Holidays brother, hope you enjoy your retirement! HOOAH!

So, let me clarify this. K-1 is intended for the holder to immigrate to the US, marry a US Citizen and live there. My question is, what is your purpose of marrying here in the US if you don't plan on living here at all?
I don't mean to point out but its kinda pointless for you to apply if you have no intention of living here in the first place. Why don't you guys just get married in Singapore instead?
-
I highly doubt they're going to ask that. Just about your relationship, how you guys met, etc. I mean, if you're concerned about it then you can go ahead and have the supporting documents. Other than that, its really just relationship wise.

Hey guys, I got a quick question for all Reserve Component members here and their fiances. I can say, I speak for every Reserve/National Guardsmen here so here goes.
I just started the K-1 Fiance Visa however, I need guidance on I-134 part just for confirmation. For the supporting evidence, is it possible to include Active Duty Orders ranging from 1 month to 100 days? For example, I was sent to Philippines for Operation Balikatan. Can I use those orders as evidence even though its AT orders? What about orders dating back 1-2 years?
Thank you.

Hello all,
I was just wondering why this thread was locked out today. I apologize to any of the moderators if I breached any violations,... if I did BREACH ANY VIOLATION. However, I was just merely answering the OP for that thread and giving him/her some guidance.
RadzNSteve charles! For these two members, I believe their answers were incorrect on the thread. I was merely correcting them with the correct answer. Thus, a few hours later, I was locked out.
"Negative. The Army National Guard is not considered Active Duty. They are only considered Active Duty when they get activated (mobilized for deployment).
Deployment can range from humanitarian aid, relief and or combat purposes.
In accordance with:
AR 135-200, Active Duty for Missions, Projects, and Training Reserve Component Soldiers, 30 July 1999.
AR 135-210, Order to Active Duty as Individuals Other Than a Presidential Selected Reserve Call-up, Partial or Full Mobilization, 18 October 1999."

For the Marine Corps, we were worried about this MCO 1752.1 regulation at first. We did some research and found out that background checks and a whole lot of paperworks must be done before he could marry a foreign national. We almost postponed the wedding because of this. But then after asking a lot of people in the Corps, we were relieved to find out that this regulation was already phased out yearssss ago. Whew! And that he didnt need to have any letter of approval, no background checks, no physical exams, nor submit any other requirements to marry me. He just simply talked to his CO and let people above him know that he would be marrying a foreign national, and his CO gave him verbal approval...then he was good to go!
and oh he also talked to someone for his security clearance btw.
After the wedding he submitted a copy of our marriage contract to this one place on base (im sorry i forgot whats it called) and they changed his status to married and listed me as his spouse/beneficiary.
Hope this helps. Happy thanksgiving to all!
When in doubt, check the Regs as they say! Thank you for the input
Happy Holidays!

Wait, how did you guys get the NOA2 without submitting the I-134 Affidavit of Support? I thought you had to submit the I-134 to get the NOA2.
Or is it just me?

Hello,
I've been browsing through this site and I was hoping for a forum made for the Military and here I am.
I've been reading all the posts and I have some questions to ask. I know majority of you are all AC Military Spouses so if you guys can help me out, I would really appreciate it.
Is there anything at all for the Reserves? I have two Soldiers here in need of assistance. However, from what I read, the expedited section is only for AC and not AR. I know the number to the USCIS number for Military assistance but I would like to hear your input on these matters. I would like to add that I am not AC but USAR so I do not need a permission memorandum from my Commander.
Mahalo Nui Loa!

Thank you!

Aloha Friday!
Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did. So, to my question.
I'm in the middle of making a I-129F and I just found out that my fiance has already been petitioned before by her parents who used to reside in the US. I believe Cali. However, they both have been deceased for 7 years now. So, does that mean the petition has been terminated since the Petitioners are no longer living? And if so, am I good to go to file the I-129F Fiance Visa or is there some sort of procedure I need to do? Was there a guidance put out for this?
Mahalo Nui Loa!

I think I can shed a few light on these matters... if not, I apologize.
For all ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL, it is required for them to ask their Commanding Officer for a permission memorandum in order for them to marry a Foreign National. Although, I (or you) would have to talk to your Admin section about it. I would also like to say that as it is said on one of the threads above, not all Military personnel have security clearance. However, for those that have, that's another issue.
For Reservists, based on what I know, you don't need to inform your CO or get a permission memorandum from them. Only ACTIVE DUTY. Background checks will be a breeze if your Military spouse has a security clearance, for those that don't will be a regular background check. Remember Active Duty and Reserve/National Guard are two different components.
I believe for US Army, you'll have to talk to your S2 or S3 if you have security clearance and inform them that you are marrying a Foreign National. I don't know all the answers but if you want to keep your clearance, talk to them.
Another thing, DEERS. Talk to your UA (Unit Adminstrator) or Admin sections for all the other branches. They'll square you away.
If any of the above I mentioned are wrong, please, for all my brothers and sisters who have more experience in this matter or can add to it, please do.
I apologize in advance if some of these info I mentioned are not accurate or if you're have second thoughts about, go talk to your Admin section or someone else mentioned on this thread, go talk to JAG. Other than that, I hope this answered to some of your questions...
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Don't drink and drive.Hooah!

Roger. You shouldn't have any problems with that. However, check with your Admin section before filling in the application. I believe all Active Duty Service Members require a permission memorandum from your CO. If your CO is not there, someone who has signature authority should be able to make one for you.
(Signature Authority) - Someone who is designated as secondary and has been given permission to exercise the Commander's signature on all matters requiring a signature to which only the Commander or higher can sign.
-
First off, is he Active Duty? If so, he needs to get a permission memorandum from his CO before filling anything.
Does being married to an alien prevent husband getting a top security clearance?

Inform your husband to ask his Security Officer/NCO/Manager. He/she will be able to provide the correct guidance on his security clearance.
