  1. Yes, I am definitely confused. I think you may be un-muddling it for me though. I think where the confusion was, was the instructions. The "Who May File Form I-131?" part only mentions the aforementioned circumstances. However, I do see in "General Requirements" part, to submit a copy of the I-485 (or in this case, submit them together). The instructions seem to blur everything together.

My main concern is if the AP can be applied for and approved without those stipulations. So, if AP is applicable to all members who applying for AOS, fantastic! Thank you for helping me. I just had one more thing regarding the application. In it, it requests a date of intended departure. What if you don't have one? Should it be left blank? Or should you enter in a date with the best of intentions and if you don't leave on or around that date, will there be issues?

  2. My fiance's medicals weren't complete by the time he had his interview. We almost couldn't schedule a doctor's appointment because we didn't know about our interview until I contacted my senator's office (initially we had a lot of trouble receiving communication from the consulate). They had scheduled an appointment for us but neither of us were made aware of the date. Because the interview was basically in the next week and a half, we called the doctor's office, told them when the interview was, they said they usually want more time because they need time for the x-ray or something but they allowed him to go in within the next day or so. Then they messed up the x-rays and said they wouldn't be ready by the time of the interview but they said they would provide a letter explaining the mishap with the medicals and that my fiance could still go to the interview. The nurse practitioner said she'd never heard of them denying someone because of the medicals not being done. When he went to the interview, they said he was as good as approved.

  3. Hello,

I've been trying to gather as much information regarding the AOS as possible. I had read the instructions for the I-131 but it states that you can apply for AP for specific purposes only (humanitarian purposes, schooling, work etc.). However, when I read the forum sometimes, I get the impression that people are applying for AP for other purposes, like traveling for leisure. Am I reading the instructions incorrectly? Should I not bother applying for AP unless under those specific reasons? Or is it possible to apply for and be approved for AP under circumstances in which someone is not ill, deceased, working abroad, going to school abroad, etc.?

  4. Hahah see?! I have no clue what I'm doing! Thanks! I just updated it hahah. I am waiting for my fiance to send me his G325A, passport photo and his letter of intent so I can get the petition in asap. Question, do they want my actual birth certificate/passport? Or just a copy of it? And do I have to send both? Or can I just send my passport? Which lockbox address is best to send it to? I think I'll probably send it via express mail, so the USCIS. Attn: I-129F. 2501 South State Highway 121 Business, Suite 400, Lewisville, TX 75067 address. Well, I guess I meant questions and not question.

  5. Hello everyone! As with everyone else in this "new members" forum, I'm new to this (surprise!). I have been reading the many stories and forums on VisaJourney for several months now and have finally built up the courage to join as I am finally starting the process of filing my petition. I am so happy to have read so many of your inspirational stories over the course of the past few months and it just feels so good to know that I'm not alone in this somewhat confusing process. My fiance and I have known each other for over 3 years now and have both been back and forth between the States and South Africa for the past 2 years, with my last stint in South Africa from late December through mid-July. He returned to the States with me in July with the intent to ask my parents permission for my hand in marriage and proposed on August 2nd, almost just before he left. As you all already know, the distance is hard and costly so we are so excited and nervous to start this process. Can't wait to get the ball rolling!
