  1. The two main reasons the visa's are denied is.

    1. Lack of proof of bonifid relationship

    2. Lack of proof of support

If you are self employed or cannot produce tax returns for previous 3 years of income according to the proverty limits by uscis.og then by all means get your banks statements in order for your fiance or wife. My wife saw so many girls turned away because the sponsor did not provide them with their proof of income or evidence of a genuine relationship.

im due for interview soon and were fixing the papers. for those who had their interview already do the consuls really asked for the bank account statements or the tax returns and affidavit of support fine already?
  2. Bring the baby! The immigration officer we interviewed for AOS said she loved seeing the whole family unit in cases and was glad we had brought our baby (5 months) at the time. When we both swore an oath for the baby's passport the other day the baby raised her right hand as well, I think she is getting the hang of this INS process, ha.

    Good luck to you both!

    hi all.

Me and the wifey will have our aos interview this friday. I am scared and anxious at the same time i followed the list that is on 1-797c notice for AOs for green card. I am thinking of bringing our new born (6 mo)son to the interview. Is this a good thing? I mean will it help me better in giving out the impression that this is a bonafide relationship? Any info would be appreciated.

  3. This really is a beautiful place to shop. My wife and I were there last June and enjoyed it. If you have ever visited, they do a customary security check at the entrance, simple pat down and bag check but security must be a nightmare to manage in these places. We took this picture when we visited.

  4. Plan for success, if the sponsors annual income is below the 2006 poverty guidelines then get a co-sponsor. Income needs to be verified either with IRS transcripts, 1099 from clients, or W2, letter from bank of deposits. I am a self employed business owner and included 1099's from clients, IRS transcripts as well as a letter by the bank of my deposits to date this year.

Should they just submit whatever little proof of income he has (which may not qualify at all for this year) or just find the cosponsor and submit cosponsor's financial stuff instead?

  5. Yes, my wife is currently adjusting through the DORA program here in Dallas. She was accepted into it July 17th. The interviewer said her case should be completed by 90 days if no problems with FBI namechecks.

PM me if you need directions or have any questions, it is a pretty simple process, you just need to have all of your paperwork ready to go and interview the same day of your infopass.

    Hey guys,

I am getting married to my fiancee at Fort Worth , TX on August 18th 2007 ,who is living there last 10 yrs.

Am i eligible for DORA process while i apply for AOS ?

Is this better than Chicago lock box processing ?

    Advance thanks

    agnar

  6. Yes, locate one close to you, call their office and check fees. My wife received all her vacinations and a completed I-693a form sealed in an envelope which we included with our paperwork at the AOS interview. Be sure to bring your xray as some doctors require to see this before signing off on your paperwork.

    search here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV

    good luck!

Okay..Dan just got his visa. His medical was in June. We don't have a copy of this. He does however have a copy of his immunizations. Question-How do we get form I-693a filled out to send in with his AOS? Do we have to find a civil surgeon to do this here in Cullman? What do we actually need for this?
  7. A big thank you to all of you who have taken the time the contribute to the FAQ and Guides on the AOS process. My wife and I used these and followed directions. We had our AOS Interview today and the adjudicator complimented us on well prepared paperwork and presention. She thanked us for the coversheet and how well organized it was. At first she wanted to know which attorney we had used to prepare our documents. ;-)

    That comment made my day!

    Thanks again you old timers!

  8. Yeah Bryan, it is really backed up. I was able to snag a date for tomorrow back in May.

    Stephen

I have been trying to schedule a DORA appointment (Dallas office) on the website for the past 2-3 weeks but have gotten the following message:

At this time, there are no appointments available for the office in your area.

    Please try back again later.

Have any other couples received the same issue?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

  9. My wife and I have our AOS interview tomorrow morning July 17th here in Dallas for the DORA program and we scheduled this date back in May. We figured if we couldn't get in by June 29th we would mail it in. The fee increase is driving a lot of folks to AOS before they had to.

it has been 2-3 weeks since we tried to get an infopass appointment for Dallas (D.O.R.A.) but to no avail....pls update us here if there is anyone who successfully scheduled themselves lately...

  10. File just after your 2 year wedding anniversary , that way when they do issue the Green-Card, it should be the permanent one rather than the 2 year conditional one, then no need to remove the conditions later on.

Followup questions in regards to waiting until after our 2yr wedding anniversary before filing aos. My wife and I could wait and file AOS April 2008, her K3 is valid until Dec 2008 and we have the 90 day dora program here in Dallas with infopass filing. The only hesitation I have is two fold.

    1. I keep hearing from several people about the i-485 AOS fee going to $900 plus in the future, any news on this?

    2. I hear that your original immigrant petition I-130 approval expires 1 yr from the approval date? is this accurate?

    Thanks

  11. Hang in there everyone, it is worth it!!!!!!

I would like to anounce the birth of our baby daughter Shari Michelle on Sunday March 4th. Marivic and baby are resting and doing very well. We even have several filipino nurses who are spoiling my wife and baby ;-)

With AOS and Baby we have not been that active on the forum but I do read and try to catch up on this board, good to see so many approvals and to those who are still waiting, hang in there, it is worth it!!!!

  12. That makes me feel better, thanks YuAndDan

    This is a good question.

My wife entered on her k3 visa Dec 27th. The customs officer said we would receive a greencard in 4 to 6 weeks and he stamped her I94 card with a March 27, 2007 expiration date. It is confusing, my wife's k3 has a 2 year expiration date, haven't heard anything from USCIS on the green card, and this March 27th date on this I94 card in her passport bothers me.

Sounds like the customs officer's mind was still on the previous immigrant. K-3 won't get a green card ever unless they either file to adjust status, or return home and get the CR-1/IR-1 visa at the consulate in the home country. K-3 is a nonimmigrant and needs to file to adjust status to that of an immigrant.

I have seen several posts where the POE officer makes that verbal slip.

  13. I am thinking you are right, it would be nice to find that documented somewhere. I don't like to make assumptions with the USCIS ;-) I take nothing for granted in dealing with USCIS.

hmmm...i came in on a k3 visa on 11-16-2006 and is stamped for 11-16-08...why is yours so short?...and if you find a guide that tells you an exact timeline please let us know. if we have to file within 90 days we only have a few days left!!!...thx

Don't worry - you don't have to file within 90 days.

  14. Personally I think you are right that the customs officer screwed up and stamped it 90 day like a k1 even through my wife's k3 visa has a 2 year expiration date of Dec 2008. In any case I guess I will schedule an infopass and show up to file aos with a newborn and wife.

I don't have a problem with doing infopass and scheduling this as we are ready with paperwork and fees however we are also 3 weeks from the birth of our first child and I do not wish to complicate an already very busy schedule for us over the next few weeks.

Getting a straight answer to this question is crazy, everyone says "read the guides" I can't find one place in the guide that says you need to file AOS before your I94 expires, oh unless you come in on a fiance visa then of course you are under the 90 day deadline to marry and so on. The thought of calling the USCIS Misinformation line is not very appealing to me. Surely there is another K3 immigrant in this forum who can share???

Anyone else come in on a K3 with a 90 day I94 expiration? If so when did you file AOS? Can you file a couple weeks before your I94 expires? Does the K3 expiration date take priority over that I94 POE expiration stamp?

    Thanks in advance

  16. Once your husband clears POE and gets the 194 card stapled into his passport just have him carry the passport as his ID, he is free to travel to all US States just like a domestic flight in the phils except less food, terrible service and you get to pay more for the ticket too! <smile>Welcome to America

I'm just curious when my husband gets here on a Immigrant visa, can we fly the next day to a different state like in Florida. I need to know because he wanted to visit his relatives over there before he gets a job or to settle down here in california. And i have my doubts cause he still dont have an I.D. to present nor a SS no. Hope somebody could help me with this :help: Thank you guys!!!
  17. Funny sidenote to that form. I submitted one to NVC as I moved to a new address a week before our interview in Nov 06. I just now got a confirmation letter from NVC about the new address....they sent the confirmation letter to my OLD address and us post office forwarded to me...ha morons.

You will file a new bio sheet for AOS and can submit the new mailing address with her I94 form that will be stapled into her passport with visa on PEO as well. I wouldn't sweat it but ultimately it is your decision.

I think I found a new place to live for me and my sweetie when he gets here. Ok so now what do I have to do that he is not actually going to be living at the address i listed on the 1-129F paperwork now? Is there some change of address form... I am not moving till after his interview, after um, Feb 8th. Then what do I submit? any answers?? thanx! the beaurocratic disaster has just begun.. LOL!
  18. Dave, congrats on the approvals!!!! what a good feeling.

On another note after suffering near heart attacks reading several statements over the last 10 months of going through this process about rules and procedural changes I adopted the "Trust but Verify" logic. 99% of the time after hearing something new in the forums I would call USCIS, NVC, or USE directly and find that is was not the case. So Trust but VERIFY anything you "hear" from others. There are plenty of members in this forum who have been down this road, some even twice ;-).

I am happy to report that my two step-kids' CR-2 interviews yesterday were successful! Maybe this little snippet of good news will help to get everyone off that NOA2 extension letter thread that has occupied so much bandwidth in the last 24 hours!!

For the keeper of the timelines, I never logged the kids as their case was unusual and the timeline was rushed as a result... definitely not typical!

Yesterday was not busy at the IV Unit, but I saw lots of smiling faces as folks came out of the interview rooms.. Let's hope it is a pointer to a successful January and February for us VJ-ers!!

    Good luck everyone!!

  19. Hi Rob,

They took my wife's passport and forwarded to the USE. I think that is the usual process. She will get it back in the plastic bag delbros delivers after USE processes the approved visa. Visa is a stamp that covers one entire page of the Phil Passport.

One simple question please. Does St. Lukes "take" your passport when you complete your medical? Do they forward it to the embassy? Lilia said at the medical, they take some passports while others just get a stamp in their passport? I expect that maybe different classes of visas get different actions?

    Thanks,

    Rob

  20. Hi all, don't forget to factor in the $1,600 peso travel tax you pay at the airport if your filipino loved ones are traveling on a ticket you purchase outside the Philippines. The 750p security airport fee, and 19 security checks and xray machines on the way to your international gate. It was enough to exaust my wife last month. She had a new respect for my previous 4 trips to visit her last year ha.

  21. DHL Global is very reliable and Phil customs does not open or examine the contents. Other carriers are subject to phil customs opening at least that is the info I got from a friend that runs a postal store and ships worldwide for his customers.

I used DHL to send my wife documentation for her interview and it was couriered right to her door step and I was able to track it the entire time.

hi guys n gals, would anyone be able to provide me with experience with mailing stuff (ie: documents) over to do Phils, cause I use US postal service, usually when I send documents I have no trouble but about 45% of the time he doesnt get it, and I need to send copies of stuff over there for interview ,anyone use another service? Also , for the interview does he need original items; ie cards he sent me, and vice versa? Do I need to send original paystubs? Thanks!
  22. Ron, don't sweat that. My wife's approved packet had a corner ripped off. The important thing is that the sealed bag it is in stays closed. POE officer will open it to stamp a couple of pages. Our POE officer ripped the thing open fast to get to the pages he wanted to stamp, it was really a 2 minute process and your on your way.

I know this process makes a normal person paranoid but you are ok as long as it is still in the plastic bag sealed.

    Stephen

so here i am again with another concern :help:!!!HELP!!! :help:

so they say dont ever try to open the visa packet... i did not!!! however there's a torn on my packet which i've read a torn packet will EXPERIENCE A SIGNIFICANT DELAY... so by looking at the picture, should it be adviceable for me to go to embassy and have it resealed again??? im really in the stage of paranoia right now (as always)... hope you can help me ease my mind on what to do... thanks!!! God bless
