  1. NVC sent all the originals of my documents to consulate. My police certificate is dated May 25,2014, do I need to request a new one although P4 didnt say I needed to. Also, do I need to bring copies of AOS? And, what does it mean by 'documents proving petitioners domicile'?

I am just so nervous and worried because my P4 said NVC sent everything to consulate and I don't need to bring any documents. However, to stay on the safe side I am bringing photocopies.

Does your husband lives with you in Canada? If yes, then you will need to demonstrate his ties in US - job arrangements, rent agreement, bank account, voter registration card, driver's license. Montreal are pretty strict on the domicile

    check this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/ .

Police certificates are good for 1 year, I would bring AOS documents just to be on a safe side.

  2. Another milestone...hubbys physical is set for February 9th...yayyyy...we are getting done slowly but surely :dancing:

Can you believe this...my husbands Police Certificate expires on the 6th of March ...just one day after his interview. He is going to go today and get a new one just in case they need it.

We have another question...he had to go get a new passport because his last one would have expired in 3 months and it must be good for 8 more months after interview. Will the doctor at his physical ask for his passport...if so it will have a different number than the one used to file Petition and Application for Visa. Do we need to call NVC and make a change or just show both at Medical and Immigration....one more freaking thing to obsess about ughhhh.

Take both passports, tell the doctor that he has his passport renewed and mention that old one is expiring. Same during the interview - they might want to see both passports. No need to call NVC, I think.

  3. Hey guys, has anyone had trouble getting the influenza vaccine, we were told by a medical center here in Brasil that it isn't available until March, but it's a requirement right??

    Thanks,

    JTJ

It is a requirement for the period October-March. Have you had your medical exam scheduled already? You might try to call them and ask if they can give you a flu shot during the exam. If it is absolutely unavailable in your country then the Embassy is probably aware of it. They might just request you to get a flu shot as soon as you move to US.

  4. okay thats good! thank you for the reply! another question, did you send your original doc's and copies of the doc's to the nvc? if so did the embassy have them and give them back to you?

We did electronic processing, so i brought all my originals and they returned my birth certificate and marriage certificate. they kept police certificates though.

recent interview date! how long did it take you to get your passport after interview? MONTREAL Embassy only please! thank you!

I was told during the interview that it can take up to 10 days. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/302129-waiting-for-our-passports-from-montreal/page-55

  5. hey guys, my interview is on February 26th. My husband has not filed taxes for 2014 yet. So in AOS package we sent tax return slips of 2013. Now at New Delhi Consulate, they would ask for W2 form, so w2 for 2013 is enough? Also do we need to carry W2 of previous years too? There are no updates in our AOS package after it was approved by NVC. Thanks in advance.

Have your husband wait a little with 2014 tax filing.

I would bring tax transcripts for the 2011-2012-2013 and W2 for 2014.

  6. check Consular Report of Birth Abroad http://toronto.usconsulate.gov/service/consular-report-of-birth-abroad.html

I think you can start immigration process for your wife and as soon as baby is born apply for his/her birth certificate through the Consulate. Just double check the details of registering birth abroad. there some conditions like U.S. citizen parent's physical presence requirement (presence in US).

She can postpone her interview for the visa until the baby is born.

  7. I need help!!! My wife was filing for loomis and i think she made a huge mistake!!! She mis read and hit schedule an appointment made by nvc and followed all instructions until we realized we hit the wrong button. Did we accidentally cancel our interview date?

Can she log in and check what her confirmation says on Trip Purpose.

there is a phone number posted on the registration website, try to call them to verify.

  8. Would you know of a case where one was prevented from taking the interview while on a tourist visa or not having residency at the time of interview? I was unable to find one. If you could point to any threads verifying where it did matter, that would help a lot for others in the same situation.

After the interview, one of the staff mentioned to my wife that residency etc comes into play during the I-130 and NVC process and is unrelated to interview. They cannot restrict one from taking an interview which is scheduled at the consulate but they may hold on to the passport for many days etc which should be taken into consideration while handing over the passport while being on a short tourist visa because the visa itself may expire causing troubles with the host country.

I personally received a letter from the consulate asking me scan and email my residency status in Canada and to bring the original + copy on interview day.

My friend was denied a tourist visa in Sydney where she applied being a tourist in Australia. She was told that she was supposed to apply in her country of residence.

In my home country the embassy does not schedule interviews for any kind of visa for non-residents except one neighboring country where they do not have a US embassy.

I realize that some embassies are more flexible, but I would not say "they do not care".

  9. My wife had her interview today in France while on a tourist visa and it was approved. She will get her passport back in about a week or 10 days.

The important point to note here is that it does not matter what visa you are on in the country where you take the interview. The US embassy does not care about it. The residency requirement only comes into play while actually applying for the I-130 and NVC process.

    Congratulations to you both!!

I only want to ask to be very careful when making such a statement.

It does matter and it depends greatly on the particular embassy. But i am happy that embassy in France has been flexible in this matter.

  10. Ok someone help please: I keep seeing people say that they register their appointment with the embassy. What does that mean? I thought that once the appointment is set, we had nothing else to do. If I have to do anything else, someone please tell me and what does it really mean to "register my appointment". Also, please help with this: "Applicants must pay the full $265us at the cashier inside Consulate on the day of the interview/cita." What $265 are these?!! I paid the IV fee and AOS fee, what else do I have to pay???

Some embassies require applicants to register for the service to have their passports delivered. Some other embassies require to schedule a separate appointments for biometrics (fingerprints). Check with your embassy's website.

Is it $265 or $165 fee? i know there is a $165 USCIS immigration fee you are supposed to pay after your visa is approved and prior your departure for the USA. But most people do it on-line.

May be someone who recently had interview in your country can clarify.

  11. Getting ready for my interview. Do I need to bring documents to prove our marriage? We are married for nine years now with two kids.

another question kind of silly, but are big zipper binders are allowed to bring? I have one pretty bulky, but it keeps all my documents neat and safe.

  12. I have registered on Loomis and added my daughter as a family member and confirmation shows me as an principal applicant and my kid as a child.

Now i think if should I register her under separate account since we have two separate cases and two separate interview letters? Does anyone know?

  13. My case was linked to my daughter's case to have same day interview. NVC was waiting for her CC. But after they issued her a second checklist (sigh), NVC scheduled an interview for me.

Happy, Happy, Happy!!! Dec. 09 we sent a request to expedite my daughter's case and we just received an e-mail from Montreal Consulate that her interview was scheduled sameday/time with me. Thank you NVC and Montreal Consulate for making it happen!!!

We did electronic processing and I think it helped a lot as just yesterday her case was still at NVC and today it shows READY at Montreal.
