That’s disappointing but I suspect you’ll hear something in the next few weeks. You’re at the end of the process and they want your application to be rounded out.

    when did you file?

    Thanks!

I actually just checked my application status and now it says: Oath Ceremony will be Scheduled. At least I have some relief knowing that my application was approved, I hope they schedule it soon.

My filing date is January 4th, 2020.

My interview was yesterday, February 24th, 2021.

  2. Hello everyone!

So, I had my interview this morning in Newark. Everything went smooth and without any issue. I answered everything correctly and I signed the forms as directed, the whole interview took like 10-15 min. Everything was great until the officer gave me the N-652 form saying that I passed the test but with a check on "A decision cannot be made yet about your application". The officer said that the system was down 🤯¿?, so she couldn't recommended me for approval just yet, that I will have to wait to get another notification for the oath ceremony.

I'm very disappointed and sad 😞, I was hoping to become a citizen today, I have being waiting so long for this. I hope my application does not go to the limbo now. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Congrats! Would you mind filling out your timeline so others can see when you filed?

correct - name change (as far as I know) needs to be done via court oath ceremony.

    Thanks! 😊

My filing date is January 4th, 2020. I was living in NY when I filed, so my application was transferred to Newark when I moved to NJ last year.

I received my interview appointment letter about a month ago, and it's scheduled to be in less than two weeks.

I did both the same day. I dropped my middle name and I have my oath one hour and a half after my interview. It was the last group of the day.

Thanks! I will try to do the same, my full name is just too long hehe 😁

My journey with USCIS ended today. I had my interview and my oath with name changed ( middle name dropped) this afternoon. The oath ceremony was at about  3:30 and there were more than 20 people. Good luck to everyone and thanks for your help.

Hi! First of all, congratulations on finishing this journey! 🥳

I will have my interview in a couple of weeks at the Newark office. I read that if you change your name you will have to wait for a judicial oath ceremony, because Newark office only does administrative ceremonies the same day. I want to change my name to a shorter version of my legal name, but I definitely would like to have both, the interview and oath ceremony the same day. Is this correct?

    Thanks for your help! 🙂

  5. Hello, congratulations to all of you who got their visa... :D

I have a question, how is the procedure at the port of entry? Do they ask anything like an interview?

    Thanks

They didn't ask me anything. To sum it up, I gave the officer the envelope and he called another person who asked me to follow him. Then, in that other place, I had to wait a bit, then they called me, I signed a paper and that's it. :)

  6. Is it? When you applied SSN ? I went SSD to apply SSN a day after I came here. But the lady said "I can't apply now. And I want to wait 2 weeks." She didn't accept my application too.

    Hi friends...i too reached Boston.

Do we need to apply for social security number? We have already marked yes in DS 260.

Hello! Glad you are here! I didn't have to go anywhere to apply for my SSN. I received it in the mail around 5 days after I arrived :)

  7. hey guys my interview was april 14th and i was put in AP because my police report was in french.so i was asksed to translate it to english.i did tht and it has been a week and the montreal embassy has not updated on the document.I so worried as i read the so many weeks of waiting for AP in some cases.does any one knows how long AP can take for cases like mine? your thoughts are appreciated

    Hi dason11!

Have you checked your CEAC visa status?

Check if the "Status Updated Date" has changed since your interview. If so, it means the case is moving, everyone goes through AP, sometimes it takes more time than others.

Keep checking the status as it will change to "ready" and then "issued" once the visa is printed. Or try calling the embassy if you are concerned.

  8. Thanks Lord...status changed to Issued. Submitted 221g docs, joint sponsor on 30 March n its been issued today. Shukar Allah. Thank u all for ur kind support. Specially to Sam1986,PatchSC,Phillip...

Congratulations sf786! I'm very happy for you :) Hope you can flight soon and start enjoying life with your husband

Also, I wanted to update my status..

On Wednesday I picked up my documents from the postal office.

Yesterday I took a flight to the U.S and now I'm home with my hubby and I couldn't be happier. (L):dancing: Everything at the POE was very smooth and quick, I was out of there in less than 10 min.

I want to thank you all for your support and to this website for being my first source of information during this process.

Best wishes to all who are still waiting, don't give up and never lose your hopes! (F)

  9. Thank you so much san83, danson11 & nertilduraku :D

My interview was at 12pm, and I was heading out at 1:15pm. Everything was very smooth and quick I think!

First I had a pre-interview, they requested my police certificate, 2 photos, medical and proof of relationship ( I brought with me a LOT of evidence: cards, chats, photos, photo album, bank statements, insurance card, etc, etc )

The questions of the pre-interview were:

    - Have you been in the U.S? How long?

    - When and how did you meet?

    - When did you become boyfriend and girlfriend?

    - How many times have you visited him? and how many times your husband has visited you?

    - When was your wedding? Who was at the wedding?

    - Does your spouse speak Spanish?

    - Do you speak English?

    - What's your occupation? What does your spouse do for living?

    - Where does your spouse live in the US? Who does your spouse live with?

    - Was your spouse or you married before?

And I think that was all, then I had to wait for the final interview with the CO (this interview was in English), a very nice man, he only checked my documentation, and said: Thank you so much for bringing so much evidence, I like the photo album, who made it?, I explained it was a gift from my husband, then he went: oh! very nice pictures!, enjoy the U.S, your visa is approved! it will take around 4 business days once you send us the call center's confirmation page to pick up your documents.

And that's it! I was nervous the day before, but there's no need to be nervous, just bring everything you need. A lot of people there were sent back because they were missing documentation.

  10. Hey guys,

Did you submit to NVC all the civil documents translated to English? I didn't because my documents are in the official language of my country (NVC accepted them too). However, I called my local embassy and they asked me to bring the translations of each document. Even though, in the website says this:

"All documents not written in English or in the official language of the country in which the interview takes place must be accompanied by a translation in English."

I wanted to share this with you in case you want to start preparing for the interview as well. Also, remember you will need a new police certificate if you obtained it more than a year ago. I'm sure neither of us want any other delay on this process. :)

  11. Nothing yet for me...cant call but just checked email...nothing is thr for us.

sis why dnt u write email to Nvc??? i wrote, the next day i got email. dnt worry u will have it sooon. keep hope.

I agree. You should submit an inquiry online. I did that yesterday morning and got IL in the afternoon. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not, but there's nothing to lose.

sf786 I really hope you get your IL and I'm happy you got the chance to spend time with your husband. Best of luck!
