  1. I can't believe it. You guys have waited so long. And why is it weird that you went to visit your fiance in Pakistan. I am sorry to hear that they are making a fuss out of nothing. I hope it all works out for you.

  2. Just an update, we filed the motion to reconsider through a lawyer. Our lawyer tried to make a strong case with our service requests every few months, emails to Senator, etc. and good moral character to show that we would never abandon our case intentionally and the interview letter was not delivered to us. However, they denied our motion stating that we can't prove that we did not receive the letter, so we are back to zero. I am now trying to put together another i-485 packet and hoping to send it in soon. After going through this experience, I regret filing the motion and wasting $$. Anyhow, I hope this time it doesn't take them 2 years to respond to our application.

  3. Thankyou. I just want people to know that the customer service people really have no clue about your case. I called later again today to see if I can talk to the tier 2 person. Unfortunately, I called late in the day and was unable to. However, the person on the phone was nice enough to say that they can only see the status update like you can online. They really have no extra information, only the higher up officer does. She recommended that I call in morning tomorrow and talk to tier 2.

  4. I really appreciate all your responses.

Husband spoke to the USCIS over the phone and funny enough the person on the phone had no clue that our I485 has been denied. They told my husband that it is still under consideration. My husband had to tell them that I received a letter stating that it is denied. They made a service request, but I just do not have any high hopes about it. I did sent out emails to the senator's office to get them involved and put in an inquiry for us. Also, have an Infopass appt for next week.

Really hoping this nightmare ends soon!

  5. I am going through the same thing. I485 denied. Apparently they sent me an interview notice more than 6 months ago which i never received. I did received the response to the multiple service requests I submitted during this time since my case is way outside of normal processing time. please let me know which route you took and what worked for you. Really appreciate your help!

  6. You can re-file.

Alternatively, you could appeal the decision, but this requires you to prove USCIS made a mistake. Which they obviously did, but how do you prove that?

The denial letter states that we can't appeal however we can file a motion to reconsider. I am thinking of meeting up with a good immigration lawyer to see if it's better to file to motion and wait or should we start over. What is strange is that i submitted at least 3 service requests after there "interview notice" with the last one over the phone with a uscis representative who also did not inform me of any interview appointments that were scheduled or missed. How can it say that I abandoned my case if I am continuously submitting service requests for updates.

  7. Need help

Just received the decision that the I-485 has been denied due to failure to appear for interview appointment however, we never received the interview letter. its been almost 2 years since we filed the I-485 and I have submitted multiple service requests to find out the status of our case. The reply for the status always made it to my house through mail stating that it is still pending considerations and there is no time frame. the last letter was date in first week of June, 2016. I recently contacted the ombudsman after that letter. Today i check the mail and saw the decision stating that we failed to appear for an interview notice that was sent for october 7th, 2015. I don't understand why they never told us that we missed our appointment in the multiple service requests i submitted.

I just don't know what to do at this point!!

  8. Hi

My husband came here on k1 visa and we filed for AOS in October, 2014. We did biometrics and received a letter for interview wavier. Since then no updates on the case. I submitted a service request online in November 2015 and received no response. I call the customer service and filed the service request again with them and received a letter stating that due to security checks there is a delay and they can not provide a processing time for it. It is frustrating not to know what's going on and just be in a limbo. Husband is starting to get homesick and I don't want to risk him not re-entering since the letter that came with AP states that AP doesn't guarantee an entry back in to US.

Anyone out there with similar situation?

    any help is appreciated.

  9. hi

My husband came on k1 visa and applied for SSN after marriage. We were denied stating that since he is married his k1 status is no longer valid and he needs to reapply after ead. We finally got our EAD and applied for SSN again. This time they were unable to verify documents online and said it could take up to 4 weeks to verify. its been over 4 weeks now and everytime we call our local office they tell us that it is still pending decision from DHS side and there is nothing they can do..anyone has been in similar situation that can help us.

  10. Congratulations!!! Wonderful news! :D

Best wishes to both of you for the future.

Thank you!! He arrives tomorrow!! It all very surreal right now!! :D

Good Luck to you with the interview date..seems like they are trying to move things along regardless of the conditions. I hope you get it soon!

  11. I called (051)2080000

Got it off of this page: http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/contact.html

But, note that the guy who picks up is really not very helpful, and doesn't have much patience. He's been rude to be one time, and just hung up on me after he was done giving me his spiel the second.

I called that number and they ask me to hold and connect me to the automated voice system that basically says that they dont accept phone call inquiries. :ranting:

This situation better end soon. I am so sick of waiting.

  12. Well I have no idea.. Even if you do get your interview. They way the embassy has been closed every other day. It is gonna delay your visa process even after approval. Like in our case we have been waiting since more then a week to receive our visa. But due to conditions they are not sending out post. Lets just hope they end this protest and let the normal life of pakistan resume.

  13. Nope.. I have not heard from them yet.

I called them a couple of times, but the guy always just says that they'll contact me when they reschedule my interview.

By the way, the website now has this notice up as well:

    "August 20, 2014

Due to the protests in Islamabad, the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy will be unable to provide services on Thursday, August 21. We will contact customers to reschedule their appointments. Thank you for your understanding."

Which number do you call to get hold of the embassy itself?

Did you hear anything yet ?

    Is embassy open tommorow?

Theres nothing on their website for Friday as of right now. So they are probably open. We are waiting for our visa to get to the courier service in lahore but due to the conditions they havent been sending it out.

  14. This is pissing me off so bad, sorry to say imran khan but your a selfish person. I have gone to these Azadi marches, they are minutes from my house, and i can tell you sharif will not resign. Instead they have put a hold on the economy and government. They have everyone's life in islamabad in danger, and doesnt care either. The embassy will not open until this bullshit is over, and khan has no sympathy or realization that there are other people in this world other than him and his ###### "pm chair". I wish this all can end so we can just continue regular life in islamabad and also visa process.

i agree.. This is nothing more then his selfishness for the chair. If he wants re-elections then there are other ways to go about it instead of this drama which is effecting pakistan negatively.
