  1. We sent our package 3 back on the 17th of this month smile.png No word yet, but I'll post if we get a response before you.

Did you send your package as registered mail ("Einschreiben")? I did and and the status is stuck since a couple of days saying "in der Zustellung" (out for delivery)... I am not sure if the consulate actually has my package yet. Did your status ever change to actually being delivered?

Danke :)

  3. All we send in with our I-129f were 3 photos of us together and that was it. At the time I hadn't informed myself a whole lot and didn't even know that there was such a thing as primary and secondary evidence... But we never got an RFE and they didn't want to see any more evidence till this day, so I wouldn't worry to much about it, especially since you live so close.

Personally I don't quite understand how an airline ticket proofs more than a picture. Yes, it shows you where in the country, but nothing says you actually spend time with your fiancé, where a picture on the other hand actually shows that you were indeed together. But we all know that USCIS sometimes has weird reasoning. :D

  4. I am Canadian and Engaged to an American and we are starting the K1 Visa process on our own. I was under the idea I have to do a 156 form but now they are saying its a DS 160 form ...PLEASE which one is acurate so i can proceed. And what is the purpose of this form? Will i be able to come back to the USA to visit my fiance while we wait this process?

The 156 no longer exists, it was replaced by the DS-160, but you won't need this until after you have been approved and your petition is at your local consulate. ;)

Yes, you are allowed to visit while filing for the visa. There have been a view cases where people where not granted entry, but normally you can visit without any problems. It is always got if you have proof of ties back to your home country, such as a job, a house, reasons to go back. This might help when entering the US. That way they won't worry about you just staying. The first time I visited my fiancé they didn't ask anything like that, but the last time the officer wanted to now if I currently worked, but it was no big deal, I told him that I was going to college, he didn't even want to see proof. But it is always good to have some documents with you, just in case. ;)

  5. They did vaccinations first then chest x-Ray then check up which included blood pressure then finally took blood sample. All done in around an hour. smile.png

wow, that really doesn't sound bad at all! :)

Did they weigh you? that's definitely the one thing I want to get around :D

  6. Hello,

My case for the fiancé visa has been approved and has been received by the Frankfurt consulate. However I have not received any email on the next steps. We are currently going off of this checklist http://photos.state.gov/libraries/frankfurt/9318/consular_pdf/Instructions%20for%20Fiancee%20Visa%20Applicants.pdf that we found on the consulate website. The only form they ask for in this checklist is the I134. I have seen on some other posts people mentioning these forms.

    Are these still necessary?

I have not received any emails during this whole process. Even when I got my NOA1 and NOA2. I'm wondering if there is an error with my email in their system?

    Your feedback would be appreciated.

Don't worry, I never received any emails either. As far as I know you have to sign up somewhere online in order to receive email or text notifications.

The checklist you are looking at is still up to date, it's the same one I recently used when I send in all my forms.

All you need is the I-134 and then also the DS-160, which you will fill out online. I am sure you will get a letter in the mail soon!

You should fill in your timeline here on visa journey ;) When exactly did the consulate receive your case?

  7. Just finished my medical and passed with flying colours. Was a good experience. Doctor who did examination and blood was really a nice guy as was all the staff. Don't know what all the worry is about. Now it's on too the waiting game smile.png

If ya have any questions don't hesitate to ask....

    Congratulations! :)

What are all the things they did at the medical?

I know they do the chest x-ray, blood test and take your blood pressure, anything else?

  8. hey there :)

I just send of my package 3 a couple of days ago and it was delivered today. Yeah!

I was wondering what your experiences are on how long it takes the Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany to send out package 4 and then about how much notice does package 4 give until the interview?

I know that this is different from case to case, but I am just looking to get some what of an idea. Online it says 2-4 weeks, but I feel like this not quite accurate from other posts I have been reading here.

It seems like now, being so close to the end, the waiting is the worst! Days are starting to feel like weeks! :D

    thanks! :)

  9. Hello everyone,

I was hoping someone would be able to help me out with two questions.

A little background: My fiance (in germany) was sent a website to go to with some links on how to fill out the K1 application. They sent him to http://germany.usembassy.gov and he was told to go under immigrant visas, and then to step 3. In this step there were 3 options. The last was labelled "K1 Visa Applicant" and he went to this and filled it out from there. However there is also a section that says "Applied to USCIS Frankfurt: If your petition was approved and your visa class has no numerical restrictions. The CEAC online immigrant visa application form DS-260 should be submitted for each person applying for a visa, regardless of age."

    1. Is this something we have to fill out? I am not sure what to do, and I have no idea if Germany has numerical restrictions for K1 visas, but I think not. He was not asked to fill out an of the forms we thought he would be (no DS 230, 156, 156K). We are supposed to send a packet with a copy of his passport, police records, i 134, birth certificate, and photos in, and wait to hear back.

    2. Because I have to send him the i 134, I think our deadline for interview will be past the 4 months approved i 129f form. He will send the embassy in Frankfurt a letter asking for an extension. Is this correct? and is this a common thing?

Thanks so much to anyone who can shed some light on these!

Please enter your date of birth (YYYYMMDD) as the ID number.
Please do not follow the DS-260 instructions to send your documents to the National Visa Center, but
    Then continue with Step 4

Ok I am actually right at the same stage as you guys (also from Germany), so let me try to help you :)

I just received package 3 this friday, so all the info should be up to date.

They want you to go to the following site:

Here your fiancé should start at step 3, which instructs him to go to this site: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ and fill out form DS-160 (NOT 260).

Once he is done filling this out he can move on to the next steps. This summed up means gather all forms listed here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/frankfurt/9318/consular_pdf/Instructions%20for%20Fiancee%20Visa%20Applicants.pdf and send them to the Consulate in Frankfurt.

The only thing left to do now is pay the K1 visa fee ($240/€180). In order to that your fiancé will need to go to this site: http://ustraveldocs.com/de/index.html?firstTime=yes where he will need to create an account and then pay the fee. Further instruction can be found here: http://ustraveldocs.com/de/de-niv-visaapply.asp at step 3. ;)

Once DS-160 is filled out, all documents are gathered and send off and the visa fee is paid he needs to wait for another letter (package 4) from the Consulate in which he will be given his interview date and instructed to go for his medical exam.

Regarding the expiration of your NOA2, we had the same thing happen to us, since USCIS lost our approved case at one point. All the consulate wants to revalidate your K-1 visa petition is a signed and dated letter from the US petitioner letting them know that you are both still legally free to marry and that you still intend to get married to each other with the 90 day period after your fiancé entered the US. I will also post the letter my fiancé send to the consulate as a guideline. ;)

I really hope I could help you! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

    Revalidating K1 petition.doc

  10. The K-1 starts with filing the I-129f. The petitioner USC fills out this paperwork. The 129f is mailed to a US address by the petitioner USC. There is nothing to be done in Germany at this stage.

Get a good start by reading the guide here.: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

This comment is completely wrong! They already received a letter (package 3) from the Consulate in Germany requesting them to send in forms, so of course there is something to be sone in Germany at this point...! They already filled I-129f and got approved, the case has been forwarded to the NVC and now recently arrived at the Consulate in Frankfurt.

  11. Wow that's depressing... Thanks for the info.

Oh well. I guess we'll just continue to call and wait, wait and call.

I am really sorry that I can't be a bigger help, but those are just the experiences I made.

At this point I would call the Ombudsmen's Office and see if they are willing to help. But once again it will probably take them forever, but hey it's always worth a shot! ;)

  12. Did you ever get a reply from the NVC research email? I sent them one a week ago and haven't had a reply. (Other than the automated one acknowledging that I sent it)

Did you have to persuade them to resend it, or is there a process/timeline before they'll do that?

Well, yes I did get a reply, but I took a little over a month until I heard back form the NVC research and then all it said in the email was that they were working on finding my case, but they haven't come up with any information yet, they will get back to me once they find out anything... And then I received the exact same email once again after about another month. So the work they did was about useless! Now they just send me an email saying that they received my file and their "work" was done. HAHA great work! In other words they didn't do anything for me. By the time they told me that they received my file I already knew for about a week. I hope you have more luck with them!!

They, neither USCIS nor the NVC, will do anything for you before 90 days are over. (90 days from the date on your NOA2) But even after the 90 days nobody at USCIS really seemed to care about anything. My fiancé and I called them at least 20 or 30 times until our case was finally received at the NVC. At first they always told us that they had put in a service request for us and somebody would look into it, but of course nothing happened. So you really have to try to persuade them. If you feel like you won't get anywhere with the person on the phone your best of just to thank them, hang up and call back, hoping the next one will be a little more helpful. I made the experience that it all depends on the officer you talk to. One will be rude and hang up on you, others actually listen and try to help you. I advice you to call in the mornings, if possible, normally the wait time isn't quite as long since most people are at work. Also request a tier 2 officer right away, the reps who answer the phone are usually more than useless. If possible even take this all the way up to a tier 2 supervisor.

GOOD LUCK! and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with :)

  13. Hello VJers :)

this question is especially for all the follow Germans and K1's here! ;)

I just received package 3 in the mail today! YEAH!

I already filled out DS-160, payed the visa fee and gathered all other necessary documents. But the one thing that is really confusing to me is about the medical examination!

In the letter I received today form the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt it states "Do NOT schedule a medical examination until instructed to do so by the Immigrant Visa Unit in Frankfurt, NVC or KCC."

If I go to the checklist http://photos.state.gov/libraries/frankfurt/9318/consular_pdf/Instructions%20for%20Fiancee%20Visa%20Applicants.pdf, which they provided the link in this same letter, it states: "Arrange for your medical examination. Visa applicants are responsible for scheduling their own appointment for a medical examination at one of the approved physicians, before the scheduled interview date. You should note that the medical examination is only valid for 6 months! This means that the validity of your immigrant visa will conform to the expiration date of the examination. We therefore request that you do not schedule the medical examination until instructed to do so by our office."

Then here http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/step6/ it says: "A final visa interview appointment can only be scheduled by us after the medical exam results have been received."

    Now I am very confused! ranting33va.gif headbonk.gif

They can't give me an interview date until I have done my medical and they received the results, yet I am not supposed to do it until they tell me to. Does this mean I will get an other letter telling me to go ahead and do the medical? As far as I was informed through VJ and official government sites I thought after package 3 I would only receive one more letter (package 4), telling me when my interview date will be.

Our process is now taking close to a year because of USCIS screw ups and I really don't want to do anything that might cause an other delay...

Maybe somebody just recently had their medical exam and interview and can help me?

I really appreciate every single response :)

    Thank you!! heart.gif

  14. The K1 visa is not a immigrant visa, you have to do the search with your case number for non immigrant visa, than it should give you a result! My case was sent to the Embassy just a couple of days ago as well and if I type in my case number it comes up with a result. Try it again! wink.png

Sorry for the misinformation, I guess on that website they DO consider it an immigrant visa, but overall it is not.

Why is everything so complicated? They should make up their mind! :D

  15. Hey did you find your case, I have the same problem. My case was approved on OCT, but NVC don’t have it. I talked to USCIS and I send an e-mail to NVC research but no respond yet.

    I really appreciate your help.

    hey :)

yes my case was found and send back to the NVC, it took a total of three times but it now finally arrived on Jan. 7th at the NVC! I can't even tell you how happy I am...!! :))

have to tell you we tried EVERYTHING there is to somehow get our journey back on track. Unfortunately nothing really seemed to help. The Ombudsmen's Office, who's job it is to help people, were the ones who didn't help us at all..

I would advice you to contact them anyways, maybe you have better luck with them!

Fill out the online form, call them and send them an email. Also send an email to the NVC research and try to speak to a tier 2 supervisor at USCIS and have them put in a service request for you. Also ask for the physical location of your case.

Request them to send a duplicate copy to the NVC.

Do you know if it went missing within USCIS or in the mail?

    I hope that helped :)

  16. For those who may be going through the same thing. Do you have any advice on what could be done to try and get things going again?

I've been waiting 7 weeks and counting for my NOA2 to be forwarded, and nobody can seem to give us an answer on where our case is. The thought of this taking a year is terrible. I can't imagine how much stress and frustration you must have gone through.

Oh I am so sorry you are having trouble with USCIS as well! Have you ever gotten a hardcopy of your NOA2 in the mail?

  17. You get your case number form the NVC. If you haven't gotten it yet, just give them a quick call ;)

To answer some of you questions:

The package that your fiance will receive will just include a list of documents that she needs to send in before she can get scheduled for a interview. I am not sure what exactly she will need since she is from a different country, but in Germany package 3 looks like this: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/frankfurt/9318/consular_pdf/Instructions%20for%20Fiancee%20Visa%20Applicants.pdf

I am sure that it is very similar for her country! Just go to the website for her Embassy or Consulate and I am sure you can find the exact info.

Once again, I am not sure how the medical exam is handled in her country, but in Germany you are instructed to schedule your medical in this letter (package 3).

All forms that you will need to fill out are stated in package 3. (DS-160, which you fill out online, and the affidavit of support I-134)

If you do not have a job and therefor fall below the minimum required income (not sure what exactly that is) you will need a co-sponsor, who is willing to be "responsible" for you and especially your fiance in a financial way. The governtment really want to make sure she won't be a public charge... A co-sponsor could be for example your parents, an other family member or a friend.

You can write an email to the Embassy which will process her from now on a request expedited processing, but I am not sure if this will make a lot of difference at this point. Once the Embassy has your file things should go pretty quick anyways. Maybe ask for a priority date for her Interview.

I hope that answered most of you questions. Good luck!
