  1. I am still waiting on an update/decision from USCIS. They received my response to the RFE on April 3rd, but I haven't heard anything since.

I guess all this stiff with the recalled cards may be part of the reason why it's taking so long to hear back.

The problem is, my GC/GC extension will expire in just over a week (6/6) and therefore my driver's license will also expire on the same day...

Does anyone have experience with this? Were you able to get a new DL without having your new GC yet?

Also, I would like to go ahead and book tickets to fly home later this summer, but I am not sure if it's a good idea to do that until I have my new GC.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

So what do they want? If you are already sent all they are asking for, unless they want it more in detail? For us they wanted to see a mortgage or utility bills, we explained this in a letter why we don't have it and one family member explained it too in an affidavit. You should definitely send the joint mortgage and updated bills and explain in a letter that you guys recently bought a house after all the paperwork. I'm sure that will help.

I will definitely send them the new mortgage and utility bills, as well as updated statements from out joint bank accounts, but other than that I am really not sure what else I could send them. Thank you!

  3. I finally got a letter from USCIS, but unfortunately not the much anticipated approval, but a RFE...

I really don't know what else I can send them in terms of evidence for a bonafide marriage!

They included a list of things, but we already sent them almost everything on that list (joint checking and savings account, life insurance, joint health insurance accounts, tax returns, and affidavits, ...). We don't have any children together, so that's not an option and we still haven't gotten wills (which I know we should have), but if we do it now, it would probably look really suspicious. We did purchase a new house after I had already submitted my paperwork, so I can send them the joint mortgage and updated utility bills, but other than that, I really don't know what else I could submit. Any suggestions?

  4. Congratulations everyone!

Is there a way to go back and check when I had my biometrics done?

I am unable to find my appointment letter since we moved a couple of months ago and I am honestly not sure when I had the appointment (I guessed in my timeline). When I check my status on the USCIS website, it was last updated saying that they received my paperwork, but nothing about the biometrics appointment I had...

  5. Hey guys,

I haven't been on visa journey in ages, but as it's getting close to a year since I filled for the removal of conditions, I thought I'd join the conversation.

First of all, congratulations to those of you that have already been approved!! And good luck to the rest of us on hearing something soon.

I read through a couple of the pages here, but I didn't see this question answered anywhere. What do we do if we don't hear anything back before our one year extension expires? My drivers license will expire at the same time and I don't think I will be able to renew it without some kind of document showing that I am still a permanent resident...

    Thanks guys and good luck!

  6. I read through a couple of posts, but I am still not completely certain what my next steps are.

My Green Card was issued on 06/06/2015 and therefore will be expiring 06/06/2017 (I came to the US via a K1 visa).

The impression I got from reading the information provided on the USCIS website, as well as some posts here, is that I have to file for removal of conditions within 90 days prior to the expiration, so sometime after March 6th.

Do I file for naturalization at the same time, or will I have to wait for the removal of conditions first?

Something that confuses me is that it states that one has to be a resident for at least 5, or in my case 3 years. But I by the time my green card expires it will obviously only have been 2 years.

    Thank you!

    Transcript only: yes ($50)

Time: 2 hours --> had to fight the receptionist and nurse to just get the vaccination transcript and not the whole medical, sounded like I was their first case... (after an hour fighting they finally let me speak to the doctor personally and the problem was resolved in 30 sec)

  8. I got an RFE in the mail a couple of days ago, because they need an updated vaccination record. I already made an appointment for next Monday with my local civil surgeon, but there is one thing that I am a little confused about. On my RFE letter it says:

"Applicant must furnish a current vaccination report using form I-693, along with Page 1 of form I-693."

So if I understand that right I do NOT need the whole form I-693 but only page 1 and page 5, which is the vaccination record? Or do I need to have the doctor fill out the entire form I-693 (all pages 1-5)? This might be really obvious to some, but I rather be safe then sorry and make sure I don't misunderstand it.

    Thanks!!

  9. It does not have to be marked 'complete' to have all the required vaccinations for AOS marked off properly on it.

I have another question that you might be able to answer.

On my RFE letter it says:

"Applicant must furnish a current vaccination report using form I-693, along with Page 1 of form I-693."

So if I understand that right I do NOT need the whole form I-693 but only page 1 and page 5, which is the vaccination record?

  10. hey everybody,

today I received a RFE from USCIS saying that they need the form I-693 (vaccination report) from me.

I came over her with a K1 visa and filled AOS within one year of my medical exam in Germany, so I do not quite understand why they now need a new vaccination record. I send the sealed enveloped that was given to me by the civil surgeon in Germany with my AOS application, so they should have all of the information they need...

Does the medical exam/vaccination report expire even if filled within a year? I filled AOS within a year, but USCIS hasn't actually started working on my case until very recently, so it has been collecting dust in their office for a year...would that be a reason to need a new vaccination record?

I already made an appointment to get it done, because I no fighting it won't help any. I am just curious, because I don't think that I actually have to do it. I feel like they either lost my original record, or it is their fault for letting my file sit their untouched for so long.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks :)

  11. Unfortunately I still haven't heard any news on my case other than my fingerprint fee has been received over a year ago. My service request all get the same generic answer...

My husband and I have made an info pass appointment for tomorrow morning, so I am really hoping for some answers!

Congratulations to all the approvals and good luck to the people that are still waiting!!

  12. hey guys I hope someone can help me out.

My AP/EAD combo card is expiring before long and I have not yet received my GC so I want to renew/extent my combo card.

I have filled out all the forms I need, but I am unsure whether to check yes or no to the question if I have ever before received a re-entry permit on the i-131 form. I would thing yes, since I had the AP that is about the expire, but when I checked online it said that a re-entry permit is not the same as an advanced patrol, so should I say no?

    I appreciate your help!

  13. my husband and I also filled in march and haven't really heard anything since then... I have already filled two service requests, especially since I know somebody who filled 6 months after me, is from the same country and everything and has now already have her green card in hand...

The first service request wasn't answered at all, for the second one I just got one of their standard emails.

We are now thinking about making an info pass appointment in Atlanta (my case is in Missouri), but I am not sure how much that will help, if any...

  14. Hello,

I hope this is the correct place to post.

I filed for AOS, AP and EAD ( I-485, I-131 and I-765) and got a notice of action for my AOS and AP but not for the EAD (work authorisation). Is something wrong here? I filed for all 3 together, got notified by email about those 2 as well as received the 2 in the mail. But again, nothing about receiving my EAD/ I-765 application.

Should I be freaked out? Contact someone?

    Thanks in advance.

This site and all the help has really been amazing!

I just filled for all 3 a couple of weeks ago and I received notice for all 3 of them. I got 3 emails, 3 text messages and 3 letters. So you might want to call them up and make sure they didn't misplace your EAD!

  15. I am not exactly sure why they have to different addresses, either. Sorry :(

But I agree with the part that the express is a waist of money. I send my AOS with regular, certified mail and it was there in only 3 days! Often the express mail doesn't get there overnight either, even if they claim it will... But 2 days more or less isn't really going to make a big difference in the end either way. It's all at the grace of USCIS and when they decide to have a look at out paperwork.

I used to be from Nürnberg as well ;)
