  • Our Story
My grandmother started filing for my mother and my uncle in 2008. My mother put her three children on the filing, my uncle on the other hand had no children at the time. To cut it all short throughout the course of it all we got the necessary documents and paid the necessary fees. My uncle had his son in 2009, he was added to the filing and everything continued going well. In June 2013 both my uncle and my mom received emails saying interviews were scheduled for July 2nd. We did the necessary things medical, passports etc. In February 2013 my Uncle had a next child and was told that he too could be added to the filing on the day of the interview. On July 2nd (Interview day) we brought all the documents we were asked to bring and so on. My uncle however didn't bring his newborn but brought the documents he would need. He was told by the lady that they would re-schedule an appointment for him. This was done, he was scheduled for July 22nd. At the interview we waited for what would've been about 45 minutes before our number came up and we went to the window and did the pledge thing and so on. They asked my mother if she had travelled before, she said yes. They also asked her what was her mother's name and she responded. They took our passports and gave us a white slip of paper with an email address and told us to get our grandmother's marriage and divorce certificates scanned and emailed to them. We left the embassy at about 9:30 and as we left we called her and she sent them off immediately. A week later they responded saying they received them. The 22nd of July came and my uncle went for his interview everything went well, they took their passports. On Friday July 26th his visa was issued and he left Jamaica in September. My mother has emailed the embassy several times about our case. The ceac site only updates when we email them, its four of us and the first case on the site says "AP" while the other 3 which I assume are my siblings and myself say "Ready". Its been basically 5 months and nothing. I'm devastated.
