the letter looked fake to me because it was just on plain paper with a dodgy signature!

Received my green card in the mail yesterday! All set! And maybe one day I will apply for citizenship.. but after this taking so long (we had a child since I sent off the paperwork and he's now 17 months old) I'm going to take a break.

Well I still haven't had my notice, and my greencard runs out on the 9th. I have an appointment with them at USCIS Santa Ana tomorrow. Is that how I was supposed to do this? I will bring the extension letter and passport and green card. Please let me know! I don't want to be an illegal resident on the 10th lol.

Sent my I-751 and supporting documents today, September 14, 2016 via USPS Priority Express Mail.

The lady at the post office told me the papers should be at the California Service Center lockbox by 3 PM tomorrow, September 15, 2016.

My green card expires on September 16, 2016.

Am I in the 90 day filing window? I really hope so as I'm not in the mood for a denial based on a technicality!

Technically you're within the 90 days, but you should have done it sooner. You unfortunately are going to be in limbo from the 16th to whenever they send you your NOA1 which essentially extends your green card for the year while they process the I-751 (Correct me if I'm wrong)... So, technically, you're not a legal resident until you get that... so DON'T leave the country lol.

Hi all,

I moved to the US for my American wife in December and love it here. I was wondering though, would it ever be possible for me to be able to get her a visa for the UK? What if we wanted to jump between countries in later life? Would be interested in the answer, or any personal experiences you have had doing this!

If I am wrong someone will correct me, but I have read on here that if you checked that box on on the IV application, and you haven't received your SS card in about three weeks, you can go to a social security office and they should have you in the system, and they can issue it to you there.

You have to apply for your Social Security. Go to the Social Security office and apply for it, bring your passport with the visa and stamped, if you received your GC bring it also.

Hi all, I landed in California on a CR-1 on December 9, 2014. On my visa application I had chosen the option which allows them to process your social security number at the same time. I have been here for 6 weeks now, and still no sign of it. I am only allowed to be uninsured for 60 days due to the Obamacare legislation, else I will have to pay a big fine on my tax return. Do any of you know how best to find out the progress of my social? Really need help asap!
