our lawyer gave us this info for next step- look correct>? I have not had a chance to read the massive first 2 posts on the Feb NVC thread but will ..
"I wanted to give you an idea, just in case you were not aware, of the next steps of your process after the I-130 Petition is approved and the approval is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC):
USCIS Sent My (Approved I-130) Immigrant Visa Petition to the NVC. Now What Happens?
1 – The NVC will invoice the Petitioner for the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and the Immigrant Visa Application fees (Form DS 260). NOTE: We cannot pay these fees until the NVC receives the I-130 approval and fee bills are issued. 2 – Once all the fees have been paid, we need to compete the Immigrant Visa Application and send the NVC the Affidavit of Support and all the required Supporting Documentation (Please see below list of Supporting Documentation). NOTE: We cannot complete the DS 260 or send the Affidavit of Support and Supporting Documentation until the NVC has confirmed receipt of fee payment. 3 – Once the Immigrant Visa Application is completed and submitted, and all the required Supporting Documentation is received, the NVC will send a letter confirming their file is complete and they will hold the Immigrant Visa Application until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate General abroad. 4 – Once the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate provides an interview date and time, they will send us a letter with all of the interview information including information about the Medical Examination. NOTE: The Medical Examination can only be done approximately 2 or 3 weeks prior to the interview date. You will hand provide the Medical Examination to the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate the day of your interview. Supporting Documentation · Birth Certificate(s) - You (and any family member(s) immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted. The certificate must contain the: Date of birth, Place of birth, Names of both parents, Indication by the appropriate authority that it is an extract from the official records – REQUIRED OF PETITIONER AND BENEFICIARY · Court and Prison Records (if applicable) – ONLY BENEFICIARY · Deportation Documentation (if applicable) – ONLY BENEFICIARY · Marriage Certificate - If you are married, you must obtain an original marriage certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority. · Marriage Termination Decrees (if applicable) – You must obtain an original divorce decree, death certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority –ONLY BENEFICIARY · Military Records (if applicable) – ONLY BENEFICIARY · Color photocopy of valid passport Biographic Data Page – ONLY BENEFICIARY (We already have this in our file.) · Photographs – Two (2) identical color photographs (Passport Style) – ONLY BENEFICIARY · Police Certificates - Each applicant aged 16 years or older must submit police certificates that: (1) Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area; (2) is issued by the appropriate police authority; and (3) includes all arrests, the reason for the arrests(s), and the disposition of each recorded case – ONLY BENEFICIARY How do I obtain a police certificate? Immigrant visa applicants who have resided in the United Kingdom for six months or more since the age of sixteen are required to obtain a Police Certificate from the Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Records Office (ACRO). In order to complete the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) we will need from PETITIONER: 1- Income Tax forms for 2013 with all supporting schedules 2- Form W-2 for 2013 3- Statement from your employer on business stationery (A letter from your employer must show the date you began employment, the type of work done, and your income.) 4- Copy of Driver’s License" -

I myself after visiting my husband in the US got Married (and it was not planned) it does happen, but that was after visiting each other quit a bit, and second time i visited him we decided to get Married in the last weeks of my almost 3 month visit because we were already Engaged and that`s also when we found out he would have to convert to Islam if we wanted to get Married in Morocco,I myself i`m not a Muslim so it would be a big lie,so we decided to do it in the US ,but i`m home now doing it the right way filing the I130 so i can live with my Husband again .

First, I think you missed my wife's point - the reason there are so few Moroccan women on VJ is because social and family constraints make it very hard for a woman to marry outside of her culture/religion, while men are comparatively free too do so.
Second, don't over-generalize Moroccans. There is just as much variation in religious observation among Moroccans as any other populations. There are plenty of Moroccans who identify as Muslims and yet are not particularly observant, or observant at all. I personally know plenty of Moroccans who have no qualms at all about drinking alcohol, eating pork, etc. And why would an atheist be more compatible with a Jew or Christian than a Muslim? Surely the problem - if it did indeed prove to be a problem - would be the observance or non-observance of a religion, regardless of which religion.

Ive been on VJ for about 6 month now i have only found 3 Moroccan females so far, hmm ...,it is very true about Moroccan men trying to be the paterfamilias of the family ,Moroccan women are more dependent on of their families so they try to obey more, and getting married to a non Muslim is a big no no,(not my family they don`t give a rats butt about religion),but i had my cousins for my father side calling a me a couple of times to tell me oh i need to do a Muslim wedding they will pay for it bla bla bla these people never spoke to me in my life ! and now they want to play family? but oh the shame i will bring them marrying a non Muslim male ,i said no thank you and by the way i`m atheist ,they left me alone after that
I think religion has a very big thing to do with it, Its okay if the woman is not Muslim but if the Husband is then family start nagging and he has to convert or something like that.

Jamie & Izzy reacted to Lynkali in I-131 Advance Parole, need advice
OP was only married late December, that's no cause for criticism on AOS -- it really does take a while to get certified copies of marriage certificate, and gather up other documents. Our AOS filing was 25 days after marriage and that was pushing it hard, I can easily see it taking over a month.
Anyway, to the original poster, obviously if she can deal with it from inside the USA then that's a better solution, but once you file AOS, she should get her AP/EAD in about 66 days (a little over two months). Can the legal issues wait until then or is it truly immediate?
I have seen people getting expedited on EAD because of a pending job offer -- I imagine you could get lucky with an Info-Pass appointment after you've filed AOS, and request expediting of the AP ... but I don't know for sure and I haven't seen any other forum posters reporting that.
Good luck!

Well, one reason for that is because they're a different kind of visa and have to marry here within 90 days and then adjust their status, which IR/CR people don't have to do. (Although CR's do have to file for a removal of conditions.) That's not the total reason, but remember, last year they were the first hit with a really crappy backlog too. However, F2A's have been getting their I130's pushed through in a few weeks, and that just shows that they're entirely capable of moving fast when they want to. Same goes for the Philippine applications from the disaster zone. (Totally understandable, btw. I'm glad that they moved quickly to help people who needed it.) So when they feel like it, they can move fast to adjudicate these applications. That is just pointing to no desire or pressure to fix this backlog, because they're not devoting the resources to clear it that they need to. I do hope that this will change very quickly.

Pigeons can fly at a sustained speed of about 50 MPH over long distances, and do short stints of about 60 MPH. If the pigeons were bringing it, it would have been there already.

Jamie & Izzy reacted to Karmalicious in Compiling the info Re: DACA applications impacting the K1 and the I130 petitions
Don't forget the reply that Tico got back from the omdudsmans office saying her message had been deleted without being read.
You just keep doing what you do Kaylara. How lucky your family and friends are to have you in their lives!
Some people "watch" and some people "do" and there are still others that watch because they have seen it before and believe that things "can never change." I am quite sure that things don't change if nobody ever tries to change it. I also believe that most things can be changed when the right idea hits the right person at the right time. I hope it is you.

Jamie & Izzy reacted to Kaylara in Compiling the info Re: DACA applications impacting the K1 and the I130 petitions
Doubtful. I have an extremely long memory. I certainly will have better things to do with my time than trying to discourage people trying to help fix a broken system.
I do love the people who claim that I will forget and should stop attempting to fix things, who have also admonished people who came back after their visa and were attempting to make a difference still and told them to go and forget. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I honestly don't know what motivation you have for continuing to try to ensure that nothing is done to try to improve the system, but that's neither here nor there. As I said before, if you don't want to help, then don't help. We're going to compile this information and get this done. If it doesn't work, the at least we can honestly say that we did everything in our power to try to fix things for the better. That we didn't just sit back and accept what we were given.
We don't need apathy, or encouragement of apathy. We need action. If we do nothing, then we are certain that nothing will change for the better.
