I filed December 21st 2019 so I’m almost at the year. I did my Biometrics in Jan, i was told a few weeks ago by USCIS I was pending a scheduled interview, but haven’t received anything...

Many cases around my filing date and after have already become citizens, so I’m concerned my case is just sitting in a pile of papers on somebody’s desk with no end in sight!

Hey, if it’s any comfort I am also a Dec filer and still Waiting. Hoping for an interview before the year is over

Sorry I have been scarce lately as so many things have been going on with me. I found out I'm pregnant and my "morning sickness" has been terrible so sitting behind a laptop was not on my to-do list :)

FYI - I also unlocked the spreadsheet so happy editing!!!

I attended my interview yesterday and was approved! I arrived at 8:55am as my appointment was at 9:10am. There was a small line with social distancing outside the main entrance of the building. The officer looked through the door and motioned at each person to step up when the doorway was cleared. I was finally checked in at 9:11am and then had to sit in the main waiting area which had limited seating based on them blocking off 4 chairs with caution tape in each row. There were only 8 of us waiting.

After sitting for 2-3 mins, an officer came and called numbers. A lady who arrived after I did ended up getting called before me. It was a short wait as I was called after 5 mins.

I was led down a hallway by a very friendly official where we then got to his office and I was sworn in before sitting down, then the civics portion began.

    He asked:

    1. What are 2 parts of Congress?

    2. What is the supreme law of the land?

    3. What was Benjamin Franklin famous for?

    4. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

    5. Why does the flag have 50 stars?

    6. What did Martin Luther King Jr. do?

Question to read off tablet - WHEN IS FLAG DAY?

Answer to write on the tablet - Flag Day is on June 14.

We then talked about my application, went through the yes and no portion, then he asked about my life in Trinidad, places I've lived, worked, etc. He really made the entire process feel so at ease and he eats Trini food so he started talking about that and I was very surprised that he knew about a lot of our dishes :D

At the end of the interview he checked off items on a paper, told me that I passed and he was recommending my approval and then said that they are no longer scheduling persons for future oath ceremonies (which made me nervous) but then he followed up by explaining that oath ceremonies are being done on the same day as the interview once the candidate passes! He thanked me for swapping recipes lol and then he led me to the main ceremony room to await another officer who would be bringing out the certs.

In that room was the same 8 persons from earlier and then a young woman came in with our certs and explained to review it carefully for any errors that could be fixed then and there because once we step outside of the building and see an error, then we would have to pay the same fee to get the cert replaced. She said once everything was accurate we could leave or stay and have pictures taken in the room. Only 3 of us stayed back to take pics because that was a memorable day to NOT take at least 1 photo! 📸

I left at 10:40am so not bad for the time spent there.

Congratulations your interview/oath went so smooth. Quick question do they give you multiple choice for the answers like the practice questions or do you need to know the answers from you memory, please?
    Thank you in advance

  3. Hi everyone,

Just found this thread, congratulations everyone who has been approved so far.

My filling date is 12/18/2019 - Brooklyn, NY, filled online. Haven't had an updates since biometrics in Feb.

I wonder if anyone has my filing date and filled from NYC?

I called USCIS today to see if they can give me an update on when I can expect an interview but of course they couldn't. They just said that an interview has been requested but no date given yet.

I am definitely ready to be done with dealing with visa's it's been along time since those NOA-1 days

  4. I applied for a job without my actual green card coming in the mail or my SSN..

My visa in my passport says it works as a green card for upto a year, so I showed them that.

I had to physically go to my local Social Security office to apply for the card, they said it would arrive in two weeks and they gave me a letter stating I had applied for it but it didn't arrive in two week, it took over a month and me having to return to ask for it.

If you don't have your SSN you can still start work depending on the company and they just won't pay you straightaway. I started working without the SSN, I showed my employer the letter I got from the SSN office but luckily I was able to get the actual number before my first payment was paid..

    Good Luck

  5. What if one is on their period :S!!

My fiance has just visited me for 3 weeks so thoughts on the visa left my brain while I enjoyed his stay. Now he's gone I'm back in visa mode, next big step is getting my vaccination records, getting a flu jab then booking the medical. Are there any shots that have an expiry date so to speak? I hope I don't have to get too many injections I'm a bit of a wuss.

Tetanus & MMR they were big on those, if you don't have childhood records of getting the initial doses they will make you get them.

    So bring all medical proof.

  6. I had my medical on the 18th December at Knightsbridge doctors and all went smooth I needed a few injections as I didn't have my childhood record for MMR & Tetanus so I needed to complete the doses.

They also made me have the flu jab which I didn't know I needed, I was a bit pissed as I could have got it done for free at work but I got sick once on it so I don't normally bother.

So if you can get the flu jab for free get it before hand and save yourself £22 but take proof of course of you having it.

Apart from that it was quick and easy, You come in hand in your documents over at reception including passport, The lady gave me a form to fill out & return, you then see the nurse, get injections if needed, chest x-ray in a different room wearing this robe and (no bra for ladies), Then you're sent to the next room to see the doctor.

He weighs you, checks your height, you discuss past medical history, he then checks ears, eyes, listens to chest, takes blood test and also examines your genital area looking for any signs of sexual transmitted diseases (intrusive) then you go on your merry way home.

They us the 4 passport pictures to attach each one to a different form and I only had to sign one picture which was also signed by the doctor. They could use the same picture really as the forms are photocopies but I guess that would be extra work.

  7. good to know for the medical but, why does it say bring your appt letter ( i take it meaning interview confirmation letter) but, i thought the embassy won't grant you that until you have had medical and they have received it?

I was wondering this also, as I booked mine via email today and it said that. Do they mean the letter that is referred to as "packet three" perhaps, with the instructions?

I had my medical on 18th at Knights bridge and all I needed was the interview confirmation email. They made a copy of that and then gave it back to me.
