  1. Sorry thought you where in the USA. The name on your Social Security would be your husbands name because you will get (fill out form) your SS when you

come to the USA. By then you will have your name change. :) Is there anything in the Philippines like say ID you can change your name to your husbands? You can send them a certified copy of that, I would think it's just as good or better. You can tell them or your husband that you are in the process of changing your name on your passport and will send that as soon as you can or show it at the Embassy.

One of the requirements for the IV packet it the photocopy of the passport. So I really do have to wait for it.

Thank you for answering my question about the Social Security. :)

  2. Ok but Social Security is even more important to have with your husbands name. It costs more but you can expedite your passport why

don't you go down there and see if they will rush it for you I think they can have it done in three days.

In the Philippines, that is already the soonest I can get it.

I have a question though, how will I know which name will be used for the Social Security? Sorry, I'm thinking ahead of myself.

  3. Just got off the phone with NVC, rep Jenny was really nice and helpful, although I was a bit disappointed at first she made me feel at ease with the flow of our conversation.

    • I found out that they got my husband's email address wrong, she updated it and asked for my email address as well. She said that they will resend an email regarding the Affidavit of Support fee and told me to wait 5 days.
    • Got our IIN too and I signed in to the website immediately and completed the DS-261 form.

Hopefully our NVC process will go on smoothly from here. :)

  4. Just got off the phone with NVC, IIN is available but Han (very nice operator, not sure if I heard his name correctly though) told me AOS is not ready for payment yet and it will tell me that the case is for termination but is not true at all. I told him that I wouldn't take the number yet because I will not be able to control myself and check CEAC, that made him laugh. He told me to give it another 2-3 days and call again mid of next week.

  5. Hi

Having just got our NOA2 this week (and very relieved to have got it too) we now are at the NVC stage.

I have read the very thorough NVC process that Saylin has kindly provided, but still have a couple of questions that I am sure someone here can answer (well I at least hope so!)

    • Do we have to call the NVC or will they contact us?
    • What is a reasonable timeframe that we can expect this stage to take?
    • Do the NVC schedule the medical and appointment at the consulate (in our case this will be in Australia)?
    • Do both the petitioner and the beneficiary get contacted by the NVC?
    • Is the process easy to follow, or should we get a lawyer involved?
    • Is Electronic Processing available to citizens of Australia (I'm the beneficiary and am from Australia)

We had no issue with the I-130 stage, and think we should be able to follow the NVC stage - am just having a bit of trouble seeing the forest for the trees at the moment!

Hi! Congratulations on your approval. I read Ms. Saylin's wiki whenever I have a free time just so I won't miss anything but still I could not still fully understand all of it. But thanks to everyone it's a lot more clearer now. I'll try to answer some of your question.

    • Yes you do have to call NVC, but give it at least a week from your NOA2 date.
    • Average time at NVC right now is 59 days.
    • I don't know the answer to this one, Help anyone? :)
    • If you provide both of your emails when you get the case number, then both of you will.
    • You can do the process all by yourself without need from a lawyer. Lovemytico is better than her lawyer. ;)
    • I'm not sure but I think only Canada and China are entitled to do electronic processing.

Wish you the best! And welcome to the NVC process! :)
