If someone can update my info, Interview scheduled for Dec 6, received email about it on Oct 31, got letter Nov 2. Hopefully all will be good at the interview for my wife

 

Tomorrow my husband takes his citizenship test. Nervous and excited at the same time!

I never updated my file, so if someone can/knows how to do it, Fingerprints were on 11/28/2016 and then in line for interview showed up on December 16, 2016 since then absolutely nothing :-(  

We've been living in the US for 6.5 years now, so he qualifies under the 5 year rule. He doesn't need me.

My question is (and I think it was answered below, although some more opinions would be appreciated), should we include evidence that we are still married (like we would have to do applying under the 3 year rule) even though he qualifies for the 5 year rule?

The previous poster said no. I plan on getting that stuff together for the interview anyway I guess, but I won't include it in my original packet if not necessary. If that's the case then I'm basically ready to send off now!

sorry, I'm not familiar with the 5 year rules, only with the 3 year ones, why wait 2 more years? We didn't want to and I don't see the process complicated nor involving too much paperwork. The photo requirements just recently changed, we had to submit them since we filed a few days before the change. I usually find the instructions on the USCIS website easy to follow, I ask when I'm not sure and I think is better to send more than asked than just what they ask for unless that means more time to get the papers.

I'm confused with #2.

You did ROC in 2012 then he could have applied for naturalization in 2013. You said "As if applying through marriage" so assuming he's applying some other way but why?? marriage is the fastest way, you can apply for naturalization 3 years after getting your green card, any other way is at least 2 years more.

We sent it via regular mail, they would arrive basically at the same time unless something unusual happens to regular, now it's a waiting time again

What is this date refers to?

The GC date should reflect the day you became a LPR in the United States.

Please help!

I am begging for some positive and comforting statements for our upcoming interview June 28th. My fiance is very, very nervous and I'm trying to be keep the faith. We are a same-sex relationship from US and India. She is heading alone to the New Delhi embassy, which we read is one of the hardest embassies to get approved at.

She is nervous to go alone, plus the one same-sex female interview we read, the couple got questioned why the individual was gay. (We still question the background leading up to this question.)

Please just give us some positivity and great approval stories so we can increase our comfort for preparation of the biggest event of our relationship. Or a funny cat picture is amazing also.

We were never questioned about our sexuality in the interview. Situation is different tough. She was already here with a HB1 (job Visa), as soon as DOMA was repealed we got married and initiated the process. Our interview involved only 'normal' questions. We just recently did the removal of conditions and an interview was not requested. The last step would be citizenship in about 10 months. Just answer truthfully and hopefully you had tons of proof when you sent the paperwork.

We received the card yesterday and this time I did get an email about it. Now 5 more months and start all this all over again, hopefully for the last time :-)

We received approval on Ap 26, mailing date Ap 29. Card not received yet. Sooooo happy :-)

We don't have state taxes here so we only submitted IRS Federal transcripts. I would send state too if you are required to fill those. No need for a lawyer if you follow instructions. We didn't use one for AOS.

For those applying to remove conditions (ROC), what supporting documents are you submitting in support of the application? I take it that these supporting documents are dated within 2 years of the green card approval date?

What we sent:

Mortage refinance documents.

Utility bills last 2 months

Bank and credit card statemetns last 2 months.

Tax returns transcript from previous 2 years

Car & Home insurance

Documents proving travel abroad together

3 affidavits (different from previous ones and talking about the last 2 years)

Now just waiting.... :-)

I was just wondering if any same-sex couples had filed for their AOS in Texas? We're currently in the Bay Area but pondering a move to Austin. Wondering how that'll play out with the USCIS. I'd expect to be treated fairly anywhere, but any data on this would be nice

Just as background: My husband came from Italy; we did a K1 last year (getting the first same-sex one out of Naples) and got married in December. AOS was in San Francisco in March and Green Card was granted. But if we move before 2016 we'll have to file the I-751 (removal of conditions) in Texas.

We live in Texas. We've been together for 15 years. My partner was on a H1B. After DOMA we got married in Iowa. Biometrics and interview were done in Texas. No problem at all. In 1 1/2 years we need to do removal of conditions and in 2 1/2 she can apply for citizenship. Don't foresee problems at all.

AFTER you receive your green card you are free to travel outside the US if it's for not more than a year, before that it all depends on your status. My wife had an H1B visa so she could have travel outside the US before receiving the green card
