Who says this father doesn't care about his child? It's better for them to be apart and not wondering how they're going to pay for their next meal, than together and doing that. The father can still talk to his child and skype when available. Living in the USA is not cheap. There is no way I could live here on my income alone, I have no idea how people at my work do it unless they're working two jobs!
You made a rather bold assumption that because this father is in school, trying to better his life and make sure he can get a job to support his family, that he doesn't care about his child which is seriously erroneous.
I'm afraid you misunderstood what I was saying - I was saying exactly what you are saying: it is better that the child is with his father (and mother), who probably really cares about him. It is sad that the immigration system can sometimes force families apart, money is nothing compared to the value of a family being together. Sheesh!

To be honest, it would be better for them to be together and struggling to support a child than to be apart and be struggling. A child in a poor family with a caring father is better off than a child in a rich family with a father who doesn't care about him, and makes no effort to teach him what actually matters in this world.

Wow - I would really like to see similar emails explaining their decision to stop transferring cases to the local offices. I wonder how they can explain the choice to just let the petitions gather dust at the NBC for months on end? I agree that we need a class action law suit to draw some attention to the poor practices going on.

Voted! Nice work by the way. Keep up the re-posting if they take it down again!

Oops I forgot to post the petition link last night!

Hi guys, I also just found this petition about i130 processing. I know it is not specific to the current circumstances, but the more attention to the overall issue, the better. Maybe we should all sign it?

I just stumbled across this article whilst looking for news on the government shut down:

Maybe we can send the letter or some email to the author of this article? Seems to be at least some interest there.

That letter is great Alaskafan! It is so important that we make this issue known (not just for ourselves, but for future filers as well).

Hi guys,
I don't usually post much on forums but last month I submitted my I-130 application and I have been reading in horror about the 12 month wait times that we have been told to expect. So I did some research and came up with some articles regarding the new processing facilities in Overland Park, MO. It looks like most of our I-130 applications have been going straight to the NBC (either Overland Park or Lee's Summit). It also looks like basically none of the applications that have gone to the NBC in the past months have been approved. The only ones being approved are the ones that are going to the service centres (particularly Texas).
Here is a link to a couple of articles that will likely be of interest to you if your application seems to have been sitting in a corner for several months:
Here is an excerpt:
"The additional federal jobs coming to the metro are partly the result of the flood of applications prompted by President Barack Obama’s decision in June to allow young undocumented immigrants to stay in the U.S. without being deported. The CIS began accepting applications for the program in mid-August.
At the time, the Associated Press reported the new policy would lead to more than 1 million applications during its first year with about 890,000 people being immediately eligible."It looks a lot like our applications are being left behind while they work on assisting people who have immigrated illegally. If this is the case, I really do not understand how they can allow an illegal immigrant's application to take precedence over the application of a paying US citizen who is petitioning for the right to bring his/her spouse into the country!
The new applications are called 'deferred action' applications (I-821D) in case anyone is interested.
The fact that these changes have come right from the top (i.e. Mr Obama) means that it is unlikely to change any time soon. So, anyone else have any thoughts on this? Short of writing to the USCIS, I am pretty much stumped.

NVC Filers - June 2014
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
Hi guys, just thought I would write in to say that it appears they are working overtime. I called NVC this morning and the lady said my case was complete as of 31 May (Saturday) (my last package was scanned in on 7 May). When I called on Friday evening (after 5pm) they said they had not reviewed my last package yet, so they really must have been working outside normal business hours.
Also, I really think that the AOS payment thing changes from Paid to N/A on the CEAC portal when your case is completed. I checked the portal on Saturday night and noticed that it had strangely changed to N/A, whereas previously I am sure it was showing as Paid. Either the change to N/A means case complete, or it might mean that your AOS has been accepted, I can't confirm either way because I didn't check between AOS acceptance and case complete.
Just in case anyone wants info to compare time line:
My AOs package was scanned in on 6 May (I believe, although they told me it was scanned in on 2 May which was the same day it was received which is very unlikely).
My IV documents were scanned in on 7 May.
Got false checklist email on 29 May. When I called after 5 pm on the 28th they told me they had not reviewed anything yet.
If anyone from Queensland is reading this, I did not send any police certificate to NvC, I just sent them a copy of the page from the consulate saying that the police certificate will be sent directly to the consulate. Apparently it worked.
