  1. Never mind ... I see the update in another thread. Wow, that's crazy. One little sheet of paper holding everything up. He should have had the VISA a long time ago.

It's been a week since we mailed the document and according to DOMEX the consulate received the documents on Monday the 26th. I haven't hit the panic button yet because I see movement on the CEAC website, however, I will feel super relieved once it is issued :) I emailed the embassy on Monday and haven't received a response. I resent the email on Thursday too. It usually has taken them a week to get back to me in the past. We are so CLOSE and yet it feels sooooooooooooo far!

  2. We've been calling the DOMEX office and asking if anything has arrived. We are calling the office in La Romana. We tried tracking from the DOMEX website but it wasn't very helpful. The Domex gal was able to tell me when are documents arrived to the consulate and just told us they are waiting to get documents back fromt he consulate. Based on her records nothing had been sent by the consulate. I hope this helps.

  3. Yesterday I decided to call the $7 dollar help line phone number after speaking with the gal from DOMEX. She notified me that the consulate received our paperwork on Monday afternoon and that they were waiting for the consulate to mail back whatever needed to mail (ie passport, or further request for information). I called the help line and the gentleman was no help in my case. He just gave me the company line explaining it could take up to six weeks. I asked him if there was a way to confirm the consulate received my documents and he said no that it could take up to six weeks because they have to receive the documents and analyze. In my case birth certificates don't need much analyzing and I expressed this to him and again he just gave me the company line of needing to wait for 6 weeks. I asked him about the possibilities of it being lost in the mail and under that circumstance what should I do. He explained that I need to wait up to six weeks and then if I don't receive an email or phone call from the consulate that I need to call them back for directions on how to proceed. He said if they consulate needs more information they will send you an email and have you either email them the information or mail the information. This wasn't very helpful to me, but perhaps it is for you. I believe it has been way more than six weeks in your case. Perhaps, you could call the $7 phone number or have your fiance call to see what they say.

I also read in a previous post from last year that someone said they were in AP for about 2 weeks and were concerned because their status kept changing from Issued to Approved, to AP, to denial. She said she went to the embassy for help. Based on her post if you show up before eight o clock they will give you a number to a window that is outside the consulate. She said there was about 20 people in line the day she went. She said the woman at the consulate was helpful and looked up her information on the computer system. Her post read that the woman notified her that her system was the most accurate and that everything was fine with her visa. She told her to disregard CEAC website as sometimes it is not accurate.

If I continue to see my case being updated on CEAC website but no change in my status then my fiance and I decided we would make the trip to Santo Domingo to ask in person. Does anyone know if this has changed in regards to showing up before 8 to ask questions at a window outside the consulate????

  4. Sorry to hear. Well we are in administrative processing. The consulate officer wanted us to provide them with my step children's birth certificate. He gave us a white paper with a list. It was the administrative processing "list". Ours only had the two birth certificates and his passport checked off on it. This is what we took to DOMEX. The list on the white piece of paper was similar to the check off list of all required documents and then went into depth in some other areas. It was a basic check off list. If our status doesn't change by the time I go back next week I am going to call the $7 phone number to see if they have more info. I will let you know if they are able to give me details regarding the documents I need (ie birth certificates). If they can perhaps it would be worth you trying to call to see if they can give you any specifics. I've called that number four different times and they have been helpful in 3 of 4 times I called. I also noticed that my case has been updated/worked on the CEAC website. The date has changed twice over this past week. Have you noticed if your date has been changing or is at a complete stand still???

  5. We called the $7 consulate phone number and they said we didn't need to take them because we weren't planning on taking the children. They were WRONG!!! We decided to call because we literally had one day before the interview. I felt relieved when I called the $7 consulate phone number but the day of the interview I was very disappointed. The consulate officer was very kind and our interview lasted about 6 -7 minutes. He asked for them and we told him we called the $7 phone number and he carried on with the interview. He gave us our green ticket and told us we were technically approved but he needed to see the birth certificates of the two children to ensure they exist. He told us there is no doubt your relationship is real but I do want the birth certificates. He gave us the form to mail the certificates through domex.

The next day we picked up the birth certificates. The day after that we went to la romana to get them legalized and went to the domex office in la romana. The domex employee told is to call within 1-2. Weeks to see of the visa was ready for pick up. Now we wait and see when our status changes from administrative processing to approved. The consulate officer said what we need doesn't usually take a lot of time. He said don't worry everything is good.

  6. What happens if you don't take children's extensiva birth certificate to the initial interview??? We have our interview on Tuesday and I am not sure if we can get our hands on their birth certificates in just one day.

We were not planning on bringing the children until we are settled. Also, what happens if we aren't able to get the children over with us before the 11 months are up? What are our options for after the k1 visa 11 months are up? Does anyone know? Thank you!

Also, I notice there is a order for all the documents they ask you for the day of the interview (at least I thought I read). Does anyone know the order in which they request the documents???

  7. Thanks for all your help!!! We have everything ready... I hope. How do I post a new topic??? I

Thanks for your help! It was really helpful! How do I start a new topic??? I can't seem to figure it out :( I think we have everything ready ... .. I hope. Do we need to pick up medical results or are they automatically sent to consulate???

  8. Our interview date was ready almost exactly a month from receiving our case number. I called the visa specialist number and paid seven dollars three days before our one month mark of receiving our case number. They told me our interview date and told me the date packet 4 was mailed out. Then we waited for packet four. Our interview date is for May 20 and packet four arrived on May 17. I was trying to get the consulate to email me packet four information because I was going to be in DR the week of May 21-26. They ended up emailing packet 4 on May 22. You can't really do anything without a DR passport. That is something my fiance and I would have done differently. We thought it was something you could get the same day if you paid VIP fee, however it isn't unless you have a previous passport (you might already have a passport so it may be quicker :)) If you have a previous passport you can get a new one the same day, however if it is your first passport it will take three days. We went on a Monday afternoon and picked it up early Wednesday morning. We needed the passport to fill out the D160 (online), to pay BANCO popular fees, and to get medical exam. It took us a whole five days with waiting in lines and taking a bus to do the following: pick up birth certificates needed for passport, apply for passport, get police certificate, pick passport up, get medical exam, and fill out D160 online. I hope this helps. Start planning on when you are going to get these things done because time FLIES!!! Best of Luck to you and your love!

  9. I met my fiance during vacation July 10, 2013. I filed my petition December 6, 2013. Our interview is May 20, 1014. I have the same worries as you and made sure to document our relationship and send in as much documentation as possible with our initial applicatioin. I sent in airline tickets, copy of passport, text messages, skype phone call records, cell phone bills, emails, pictures of us together when I visited, and pictures of us video chatting by ourselves and with family. By the time we have our interview we will have been together only 10 1/2 months. I have been lucky that I have been able to visit him five times during school vacations within these 10 months and have the same worries as you. As far as I know it is less complicated and less of a chance for any denials if our fiances have never had someone petition on their behalf before. Just file now and send as much evidence as possible. I had the same concerns you due to to the high fraud concerns in the Dominican Republic. I will keep you in my prapers. Btw How do I create my own topic and post??? LOL I forgot how

  10. No worries, they will have your number before you know it. It was almost exactly a month after receiving my NVC notice when NVC game me a case number. I called a day after receiving my NVC letter and they told me the same thing they told you. I then waited about three weeks later and they had just created my case number a day or two before I had called :) Hope this helps.

Everyone or anyone please help me. I have forgotten how to post my own topic. I did it once in the past and can't seem to figure it out again. How can I post my own topic in this portal?????
