  1. hi dwheels, can you update me on your spreadsheet.....interview date changed to Dec 29, I'm all :)

thank you teacup for the embassy form letter.

for all of you that will ask me how I got an earlier interview date - I sent an email to the embassy using teacup's format, told them that I have a pre-planned trip to visit my husband over the holidays and asked if it was possible to move up our interview date. to my utter delight, they accommodated us so moral of the story is, it can't hurt to ask. I emailed the embassy yesterday (when the ceac status changed to ready) and this afternoon they responded.

8 more hours till I get on a plane and I'm still packing -- I had to take out some gifts and put in winter clothes for my hubby

not sure when I will get a chance to log in again...I want to wish all of my vj buddies happy holidays

  2. Thanks dwheels! A huge thank you for all your help and advice, I have been following your thread for months now.

Hi sf786 - We started out as an F2A, I became an American citizen in September so now we are in the IR1 category. I can't figure out how to update my timeline so I put a note in the comments. Our PD is August 13, 2013.

I'll be in Trinidad for 2 weeks for the holidays so you all know that I'm pushing my husband to get the medical done ASAP so that I can ask for an earlier interview date, worse the embassy can say is no, right? Can't hurt to try. It would be fantastic if he can come back with me.

I'm sending prayers and positive vibes that everyone gets good news soon.

  3. hi hi,

Got the email from NVC today that our petition has been upgraded to IR-1. I sent a copy of my naturalization certificate by UPS, NVC said they had the package and to wait 30 days for them to process. At the end of 30 days, they told me that they don't have any packages from me -- say what! I contacted my congressman and his office submitted the paperwork on my behalf. The NVC reps also told me that I didn't need to mail in the certificate, they would have accepted an email with a scanned copy. Now we wait for the interview to be scheduled.

  4. At the time, I was rushed as I took my lunch break thinking the ceremony wouldn't take long...I kept having to remind myself to live in the moment and enjoy the naturalization ceremony as I would want to remember all the details.

Anything else you want to know ask, I'm happy to help. This website has been a tremendous help to me. I wish I had found it earlier on in the process.

I have an appointment to apply for my passport tomorrow. Since I had done the research I knew the cost, procedure, etc...so as people were asking and the immigration officer didn't know, I spoke up lol At the end of the ceremony - when we were milling around taking pictures - he came up to me and told me that I should apply for a job with USCIS. You better believe I've been scoping out government jobs, I've already applied for a few :)

Anyone who got the passport card, did you think that it was worth it?

  5. Thanks! Here is my review, guess I was too excited and forgot to post here for my fellow March filers.

I had my oath ceremony today (9/24/2014) at the Baltimore field office. We were directed to the same waiting room as where we had to wait for the interview. Oath ceremony was scheduled for 2pm, about 2:05pm an immigration officer walked in and directed us to the room. He went thru instructions (turn in your greencard, complete back of form, etc.) Then we all went up to turn in the paperwork. Even though the oath ceremony invitation/letter has a number written on it they didn't go by the numbers, he called us up one row at a time. I was sitting in the front row, yet I was the last one to get my certificate. We saw a video, welcome from the president. Then another officer came in to officiate the oath. We sang the national anthem and recited the pledge of allegiance. Both officers passed out certificates at the end of the ceremony. The room was a good size, it was pretty full. Guests were allowed, someone had a toddler that screamed all the way thru the ceremony, I felt sorry thinking it was a single parent, at the end when we were taking pictures I realized there were 3 adults with this toddler and only 1 of them was naturalized. Needless to say it was difficult to hear the immigration officers over the cries of the toddler. This made our ceremony longer as people kept asking questions that the immigration officer had already reviewed. After the ceremony when we were leaving, this family decided to stop to take pictures outside of the Baltimore office, the toddler is then running up and down the parking lot, a security officer had to come and tell them to get the child out of the street!

Try to get there a bit early as the line to go thru security was long as everyone arrived at the same time.

  6. I had my interview today at the Baltimore field office - I passed :) The oath ceremonies for today were full so I have to wait until next week. Oath will be next Wednesday, September 24

I can't remember much of the interview.

    Questions asked were:

Who becomes president if the president can't?

What is 1 right under the first amendment?

Name a part of the amendment that states who can vote

Why did the first colonials come to America? This one stumped me, he gave me clues until I got it -- religious freedom

    I can't remember the other 2 questions.

Thank you to all who posted their interview experiences, I knew what to expect.

  7. hi hi,

on 6/13 I received the 'yellow' letter -- basically a letter from uscis printed on yellow colored paper saying to bring my green card, passport(s) and driver's license to the interview. then on 8/16, I received the letter with the interview date. confusing isn't it? from what I've read from other posters seems that they get the yellow letter after the interview is scheduled, my case seems to be going in a different direction lol

christi85, I understand what you're going thru. I'm planning to do the same thing, keep my maiden last name as a middle name and take my husband's last name as my own. I would rather keep my maiden name but this is important for my husband for me to take his name -- its a small gesture to make him happy. after all he is giving up his life to move to the USA for me :)

  8. hi everyone, so I have some good news...this process is taking so long that my husband and I decided that he will try for a visitor's visa, I really want his first experience visiting to be when its warm and not in the middle of winter....well he didn't get the visitor visa, the good news is that the CO told him that he couldn't issue the visa because he can see that my husband will be migrating in the next 2-3 months....I know this is not official and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but it made me super excited that maybe just maybe the visa bulletin will move forward when the new fiscal year starts...I'm focusing on the positive
