Congratulations.  Thanks for sharing the update and yes, VisaJourney has been a great help to many of us.

Do you know why you had an interview?  Was there something amiss in your I-751 application or not enough supporting information?  Of were you just randomly selected?    Also why would it take another 6 weeks to hear something?  This makes no sense to me but maybe that is a worst case scenario.  Anyway, I hope it all goes well from now on and you get the good news very soon.

I'm assuming we were just randomly selected because we have a really standard case and they didn't ask for any more evidence. I also thought it was weird that it would take that long to hear anything and that the website wasn't showing any updates. But that's uscis for ya!

  2. We had our interview on Monday at the Chicago office. Fairly straightforward, she looked through our file (which was huge! Crazy to see all our info dating back to our K1 visa in 2014), asked a few questions. It was all very relaxed. She said she would look through our file later in the day and then make a decision and if we hadn't heard anything in 90 days, to reach out to them. Our case status still says "received by local office." So, who knows. She also said that citizenship interviews are happening even quicker, about eight months after file date. Had to laugh at that one! But I'll keep my fingers crossed too 😂

  3. Hey guys, we have our I-751 interview tomorrow in Chicago and the website says no phones. I have heard of nearby drop off points for phones, but does anyone know if they are actually allowed inside if they're off? Would hate to wait in line and then have to turn around and go put our phones somewhere but would like to keep our phones on us if possible. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes they pick random cases to interview, so it might not be anything you did wrong.

No need to worry.. my friend attended the ROC interview.  There was no age , religion difference. But they were called and the interviewer because the country her husband is from is among the high fraud countries.  Everything went smooth and they were approved on the spot.

I assumed we were picked at random but wasn't sure if anyone had heard of them combining an I-751/N-400 interview which I highly doubt they would do despite it sounding like less work on their end! We all know they don't do things the easy way though :)

  5. Hi there,

My Welsh husband and I filed for ROC in June of 2017 and hadn't heard anything about our case until a letter came last week asking us both to attend a I-751 interview in the middle of September. So far in the I-751 June 2017 filers forum, I haven't really seen anyone else be called for an interview. Has anyone else experienced this, specifically in Chicago? We also applied for N-400 in May of 2018, so someone had said this was possibly a joint interview for I-751/N-400, but the form only mentions the ROC so I'm not sure if this is actually a possibility. Any information about ROC interviews would be helpful as I've looked through the forum but haven't found too much. I thought my paperwork was super thorough and proved we were a legit couple but now I'm wondering if they noted a red flag or something (there is no reason that I can think of for us to be red flagged however) and that is why we are being called. Thanks!

I strongly recommend calling USCIS to ask them what address they have on file for you now. I changed my address back in March and received the same email, however, they never updated the address for my, pending at that time, I-751 petition. That caused me a lot of trouble and stress because they sent my approval letter and the new GC to my old address.

I actually believe my husband tried calling and they weren't able to confirm our address or any information about our case? Is there a certain number/extension/person to ask for?

Are you a June 2017 filer? This gives me hope. I'm in Chicago, and I filed June 2017 at CSC as well, and then for N-400 June 2018. Just got my passport stamped with the I-551 at Chicago USCIS (for 6 months only!), and haven't gotten my 18 month extension yet.

So looks like there's some movement at the Chicago office after all.

Yes, we filed I-751 in June 2017 and N-400 in May or June 2018 as well. We have not gotten passport stamped or extension letter yet so need to do that!! Did you have to book an appointment for the stamp?

Did you check which form is it for in the top right corner? It’s probably a combined interview. I also applied for citizenship and got an interview letter and it says that it’s for N-400. Also I had to change the address recently and filed that online and they sent me an email stating:

Recently, you contacted us to update your address. We have updated your address in our systems and on your application or petition.

Recently, you contacted us about the status of your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, filed on June 22, 2017.  On June 27, 2018, you also filed a Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  Our records indicate that your Form I-751 and Form N-400 are currently pending and will be adjudicated at the same time.

Under "Reason for Appointment" it says "I-751 Interview" so I assumed it had nothing to do with N-400.. Also I tried updating our address online about a year ago (before filing N-400, but after filing I-751) and got a confirmation of updated address, yet the recent letter was sent to our old address and luckily it was forwarded because when I check online the status just says case received. Does anyone know how to assure that my address was changed? Seems weird that they would confirm via email but then still send the mail to my old address.. Would hate for other things to be sent there without it being forwarded.

  9. Has anyone here been called for an I-751 interview, specifically in Chicago? We just got a letter requesting my husband go for an interview and I come with in three weeks. I was really shocked to see it because I was under the assumption that it would get approved randomly and interviews were only for people with red flags .. but I was very thorough with paperwork and showing legitimacy of our relationship so now I'm a little worried! Any experience with this? We've already filed for citizenship so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it? Any advice is appreciated!

  10. We haven’t heard a single thing from USCIS since receiving our 797 Notice of Action 6/8/17. Haven’t heard about biometric appointment or gotten any other mail from them so we can’t even track the progress online. We changed our address online a few months after receiving the letter and of course now I’m worried that they possibly sent something to an old address when in reality the processing time is probably just at a stand still.

Also, is anyone here eligible to file for citizenship/applied yet? I thought I remember reading that you can apply 2 years and 9 months after green card approval.

  11. Hey everyone! My husband received his NOA1 on June 8th of this year. We still haven’t heard about a biometric appointment. I’ve seen a few people say they requested an appointment or something and they were told they were added to a queue. Can someone send me the link for this?

We’ve also tried calling but have but have never connected to a real person. Since we don’t have the biometric receipt number we can’t track it and they can’t access it through the automated options. It’s been years since I’ve called them and have forgotten how to get through to an actual human, any tips? Thanks!!

  12. Seriously.. USCIS needs to get their together! Haha it makes no sense that we wouldn't get RFE for expired medical but you guys would. I'm glad I won't be dealing with them again for a while and hope you will be in the same boat soon as well!

Thanks for your support, I know some of our friends and family think we're crazy for wanting to move already after we worked so hard to get Rich here. But we just had all of Rich's family and friends over for our reception in May and I think it made him really miss home. We are going to spend another year here and tick things off our US bucket list as well as see my family as much as possible, then I think we'll be off! I am so excited to live in a place where you can drive or fly for a few hours and be in another country. I think we will have a lot of fun there - get some traveling out of the way and then settle down and have kids! It's very exciting. Can't believe we're already coming up on our one year wedding anniversary- the time has flown!

Hope you all have fun on your trip!!

Congratulations!! We weren't that lucky. RFE's for 2 expired medicals. Medicals done in Ireland: may 14, 2014. Expired notice: June 15, 2015. Why some people can have 2013 medicals and no RFE is beyond me. I have grown to really loathe the USCIS. Happily, both were done this week and we're just waiting to pick up Johan's, then it's in the mail. We leave for Europe Thursday, so they'll be traveling with AP instead of green cards. You'd think a year would be time enough, but nope. Jerks.

About relocation: might as well! You're young and able to travel around. Better now than when you're tied down with kids and with a job you don't feel you can leave. We've talked about doing the same, but our timing will have to wait at least 5 years. It's a nice perk to be married to an EU citizen. We can go pretty much anywhere. Keep us posted on your decisions. Happy Friday!!

  13. Hey everyone, any good (or bad) news? I know a few of you have gotten GC by now and boy are we jealous. We received interview waiver letter a while ago. Kind of assumed it would happen but it was still disheartening to get it! For now we are keeping busy by planning our big party for this upcoming May - and planning a move to Denver! Hoping that we can save enough to move by fall. What's new with everyone?

  14. Just received ours too. So upset!! We were planning on waiting to have kids till we move overseas, and weren't planning on moving overseas until he can get citizenship. What a long journey we have ahead of us..

Hey everyone got interview waiver letter yesterday in the mail, looks like another 6 months of waiting for me. The waiting never seems to stop. Hopefully between that time I can get some good news hopefully. I wish I had gotten an interview instead of the interview waiver

Just received potential interview waiver in the mail today. I guess the wait in NYC continues.

We just our potential interview waiver too. Ugh, now we still have to try to see if he can get a drivers license here as it seems to be the one thing every job sees as an issue even though he's applying for shifts I can drive him to or he can literally walk too.

  15. Yeah we've been looking into Colorado a lot. I'm from Michigan and knowing their weather, I wouldn't recommend it! Haha.

We're in the same boat with bills getting higher, Rich has had a few interviews but they've all been low pay, and I know beggars can't be choosers but we're going to hold out just a liiittle longer for something better. I know he's dying to work and contribute, so we'll both be pretty happy once he finds something.

I feel ya on working so hard and then wanting to move right away!! The weather can take a serious toll on your happiness and wellbeing. The only reason I'm wanting his green card ASAP is because the countdown will start and then in 3 years he can apply for citizenship. Since we plan on possibly bouncing back and fourth between the US/UK it would just make it so much easier if he's a citizen. But time will tell! Sometimes I feel like I'm too focused on dreaming of what will happen three years ago, I gotta bring myself back to reality!

i highly reccomend colroado.. lots of outdoor stuff to do and winter isnt "so bad".. its definately not a Vegas winter but an ok trade off for outdoor activities. My hubby wants to move to Michigan though. I would rather not.. Colorado is cold enough for me although more then likely if we move somewhere I will use my USA winter to travel back to summer Australia

Our (his) credit card bills are getting bigger at the moment as we plan our May wedding reception... Hopefully a job is just around the corner so I can begin contributing to the household. I think once ur husband (and I) gain our independence back like working etc things wont look so bad.

I think also once greencard comes we will seriously consider moving to Australia (after all our hard work here) and alot of the decision is litterally the weather. I feel life pretty much shuts down once it starts snowing but then again its only my first official winter so I will see how things go with time

  16. Wow, isn't it crazy to think back on this time last year? We still haven't heard about interview or a waiver.. Rich has his EAD, but hasn't been able to find work yet. Hoping that something comes along soon!! We are still planning our "reception" which is happening in May.. His family and friends are coming over from Wales and they'll get to meet all of my family and friends, which will be a laugh!! We are also dreaming of moving somewhere a bit warmer.. haha Chicago winter has got us down!! But for now, we're just happy to be together.

And on that note: we're all coming up on our 1 year anniversary for filing the 129F. how's things with everyone?

Johan and his son are still in interview waiver limbo. They might have their green cards by August! Johan's been working for 2 months, and so far, so good. He's had some moments where his differing culture makes for some comedy at work, but otherwise, it's a decent fit. We have tentative plans to head to Europe for a few weeks this summer so his son can visit with his mother. And we're off to see more of the continent! We had to come up with a plan that we'd alternate vacations: one vacation abroad, then one vacation in North America. hahaha From him: I've lived in Europe, I don't want to spend time there. From me: Same goes with me and north America!!
