  1. I disagree with the statement that the K3 is not quicker. It was ABSOLUTELY quicker in my wife's case. She received her K3 Visa in hand 8/24/14, Her i-130 is still at NVC and would likely be at least another 2 months in NVC and then 3-5 months waiting for an appointment at the embassy.

So it saved us at least 5 months if not more.

Don't let anyone tell you not to pursue it, it costs nothing extra to file. Yes it may be rare, but some people like us are lucky enough to have been granted the k3.

  2. For those who are contemplating or have filed the k3 visa it DOES exist. My wife just interviewed at the consulate today and I am thrilled to say it has been approved! I have been stuck at NVC with the I-130 since June and I was preparing myself for the bad news that the consulate would tell her at the interview that the K-3 was no longer valid, however, they went ahead and approved it today.

Do not give up hope and don't believe when people say it doe not exist. It doesn't hurt to pursue it and in some cases like mine it actually works.

Good luck to all of you.

  4. Hello all,

I am looking for some help please for those who have or are going to interview at the embassy in Cairo. My wife received a letter indicating that she has an interview on August 17 for her K3 application. Prior to that letter neither my wife or I have received any communication from the embassy indicating what she needs to prepare and bring with her. The only thing they have sent (finally after countless emails by me) is that she needs to complete her medical examination. Everything I have sent them I have sent through my own research.

I know that they have the approved K3 packet sent by the national visa center. I also sent the I-134 form, my personal information, last 3 years of tax transcripts.

I am hoping they have everything they need since they haven't indicated that they need anything else (however, through my dealing with the embassy I have found them very uncaring, rude and dismissive)

I should also mention I have an approved I-130 currently being processed at the NVC (still in initial stages, 2-3 months to go i believe) and was quite surprised that the embassy even scheduled this interview.

Can anyone please share with me a checklist of things my wife should bring with her to this interview? Perhaps someone can send me a screenshot of their packet 3 and packet 4 letters?

I thank you all so much in advance for your help, and hope all of you are united with your loved ones soon if not already.

  6. Soloenta,

if you haven't dealt with the U.S embassy yet get ready for some nasty incompetent people. My I-129F was approved about 2 months ago and was sent to the embassy. Now since my I-130 is approved I have to go through NVC. Anyways wait til you deal with tip you get to the embassy. I have filed a complaint against with my congressman regarding one lady in particular. If you ever deal with "Saurelle" either hang up or record your conversation or save your chat.

Situation 1: When verifying my wife's information on their website (since we had no communication with the embassy whatsoever regarding next step in the process) she asked for her email address. When I provided the address she said that is wrong we cannot go any further, she wouldn't share any information (although all the important information like passport number, DOB, home address etc I answered correctly) I flipped out on her and told her I will be contacting her supervisor she relented and we continued. Out of curiosity I asked what email address does the application show? Her answer? Remember this is over the phone........ ATTENTIONINVALIDEMAILADDRESS is what she spelled out to me! Unbelievable right!!

Moving on: Situation 2 Different day

She incorrectly spelled 3 out of 5 names in my wife's full name and she put as date of birth Wednesday 22, 1984

When asked to correct the errors, she got better by only misspelling her last name.

Situation 3: Chat online again for case status about why we have had no communication about how to schedule a visa interview(* I provided my NVC case number and other pertinent information* prior to her response) she told me "In order to bring your wife over to the U.S. you must first file an application through USCIS".

AWESOME JUST AWESOME huh!! So when i told her yes i have done that already and have an approved I-129f at the embassy, she promptly closed the chat window!

I'm getting a headache just thinking about her..

  7. Salam,

If the I-130 is still with USCIS then your I-129F will make it to the embassy and will be processed.

We have here a case of a member with K3 also. The K3 made it all the way to the embassy, medical done and all and then the K3 was closed because they found out the I-130 was at NVC.

In your case, if the I-130 is still not approved by USCIS, the K3 should go through in chaa Allah!

    Good luck

    Thank you !!

  8. Hi everybody,

An update on my K-3. I just called NVC and they received my case from Texas Service Center.

Sandy (lovely, patient lady) gave me my case, IID and Beneficiary #'s! I asked her what comes next. She said in 3-4 days start logging onto the embassy's website in Cairo to see if they received my case. She indicated that my file was being mailed out today!

Now i have no idea what this all means since my i-130 hasn't even been looked at yet. I'm hoping my K-3 gets to Cairo quickly and an interview gets scheduled before they touch the I-130. However, Sandy said sometimes they will pull the I-130 to pair it up and send it to Cairo as well. And according to her, since my K-3 has already been approved there is nothing that should keep my I-130 from getting approved.

So long story short, at the very least I am thinking that inshallah my I-130 will be approved much sooner than i thought and I shaved off a couple months off the wait.

If that's what happens, then my advice to anyone wondering if the 1-129 K-3 is worth it……….YES ABSOLUTELY!

  11. Thank you, everyone! :)

No, I did not file 129f. As far as the expedite is concerned, I had requested one, but never heard back from them. So, I called USCIS and spoke to a tier 2 and they told me that they never received the evidence I faxed them three times! Therefore, I did not get the expedite. And I would have to wait to file it again. That's what the person told me, but I never actually heard back from VSC about the nay of the expedite... So I gave up on it. But seeing how they took almost a month to respond to my response to RFE, doesn't seem like expedited processing! Perhaps I just got lucky! :) Either way, I am super happy!

Here's hoping your luck rubs off on us as well. I have some good news to share as well. I filed a I-129f after my I-130. Texas Service Center approved it on April 16 and sent it to NVC on April 18th. Hoping it either gets shipped quickly to the embassy in Egypt OR (more likely) it at least gets my I-130 approved faster. i was very surprised they approved the I-129f without even apparently looking at my I-130 that has been sitting collecting dust in Vermont.

  12. Soloenta,

No, i filed for the i-130 first then the i-129F which can be for married couples (in theory to make the separation time between my wife and I shorter while we wait).

It did get approved within 3 months which is much quicker than i anticipated, now i'm hoping that either:

    1. the I-129F (K3 visa) makes it to the embassy quickly or

    2. the I-130 application gets pulled out of line and paired with the already approved I-129f thus saving a few precious months of waiting.

Any advice/input from any/all members would be very much appreciated.

Good luck to everyone, and I hope all of your are reunited with your loved ones soon.
