  1. Yes, when we went they CO asked for an updated police certificate and updated financials from my husband. Good thing we had all of that.

    The petitioner is not required, but it helped me to have my husband's support.

    YES, go early. There will be a LOT of people there. If you go at 9:30am then you'll be there all day

    good luck

    What did you bring to show "updated financials"?

    Pay stubs?

  2. Wow, after reading this thread, it sure seems that way! I went to Dr. Lee in Scarborough. He did a pretty thorough job and spent almost a half hr with me. My appointment was at 8:30 am and since I was coming from out of town, I had to leave at 5:45 am to get there. I wasn't seen until 10:30! Anyways, he made sure all my vaccines were up to date. I had blood work and an xray. Dr.Lee then told me I needed to fax him my flu shot which he said should be available next week. I posted a topic about this. Anyone else been told to get the flu shot when its not available yet?

    Nope. No flu shot. When I called to schedule the medical the lady told me I need to get a chicken pox vaccine (Varicella) which I did.

    Took my vaccine records in along with proof of my Varicella vaccine. It was all looked over and he saw that my last TDAP shot was in 2000 so he told me to get it done and fax it in.. He was very VERY fast. I don't even know where and how he got his hands on the paper but before I even knew it he had the vaccine I needed and his fax number highlighted.

  3. My husband just had his medical there on Tuesday. He said the doctor literally "examined" him for 45 seconds and then said "So...you have some money for me?". Pretty much there was no examination at all..hah. I'm not sure if that's how it normally is or not, but my husband said the doctor walked in, said "You look like a pretty healthy guy", and then started checking off boxes on the sheet. He also go x-rays and blood work done.

    Quoting again because this is exactly what happened with me today. You and your husband described it to the T.

    Called my name.. Walked in and did the "Hi how are yous".. Asked if I'm heading to Florida for some reason.. Said no. Said I looked like a healthy guy, asked my age and said I was young and healthy. Checked NO on every box and wrote N/A for something. While he's talking I'm pulling out my cash and counting it.. Put it on the table and slid it to him. Gave me the two sheets for my TB and Syphillis check. Said our goodbyes and had a very awkward hand shake. Also told me I am missing an updated TDAP shot which I should get and fax to him immediately.. Will do today.

    X ray was fast.. Took no longer than 30 seconds. Blood work was fast too. I spent the most time sitting and waiting (15 minutes).

    FYI:

    My appointment was for 2:30, and I showed up at 12:30. No one was inside and I just told the receptionist I was 2 hours early.. She gave me all the paperwork to fill out. Didn't even ask for my interview letter. She said that me filling in the case number was good enough.

    There were two signs stating " We are forced to report any rude or offensive behaviour to immigration and insurance companies"

    Whats with that? I forgot to ask him.. Also forgot to ask him if that was his sweet Viper outside in the lot.

    Heh.. This doctor must be in it to win it ($$$).

    Hopefully I get out ASAP like your husband. I'm sure if the NVC/Consulate find out about this he might have some problems ( the doctor, not your husband) lol.

  5. What do they collect exactly?

    Blood, Urine, and X ray? Or just Blood and X ray?

    Is there a physical involved at all?

    Are the main things they look for TB, syphillis, and drugs?

    Have an appointment at 2:30 and REALLY want to get out of there ASAP as the traffic is going to be nuts (what should be a 2 and a half hour drive home will probably end up being 5+).

  6. I would stay and acquire the US citizenship. That way, as you said, you are free to move between the two countries.. It maybe a little more complicated than that but that is the route I'd take.

  7. Guys thank you so much for your replies!!

    However I have one more question. Just a couple hours after making this thread I had received and email today saying my interview has been rescheduled.. I opened the email and my interview date has been pushed back 6 days from October 16th to October 22nd... Has this happened to anyone else? The email states;

    "Due to some previously unforeseen circumstances, we need to reschedule your interview for Tuesday October 22, 2013 at the same time."

    What exactly does "unforseen circumstances" mean? I don't like the way the word "circumstances" has been used :( seems to be bad.

    sweety-sweet.

    I'm going to get a chickenpox vaccine as its not in my record. I told the lady at the medical office that I had chickenpox when I was a child. Didn't really understand what she was saying as far as getting the vaccine or not. She had a foreign accent.

    She did however tell me that there are a few vaccines I don't need due to my age as NLR said. The list that you receive in your packets are a general list, not a specific list (age).

  8. Hey guys, so my medical and interview are coming up. I am extremely nervous and excited. Every time I think about the interview its like I receive a shot of adrenaline and I get very jittery and nervous. From excitement I start pacing around the house back and forth.This happen to anyone else?

    So, my questions and I need some final clarifications on;

    1. For the Medical, my proof of vaccinations is a piece of paper from my high school listing the shots I received and the dates. Is this acceptable or does it have to be an OFFICIAL document? If they must be OFFICIAL where can I get them?

    2. This is in P4;

    *** IMPORTANT *** Interview Reminders
    ================================================================================
    · Applicants may need to bring an additional police certificate to the interview. If the following three items
    are all true, the applicant needs to bring an updated police certificate to the interview:
    · He or she is more than 16 years old;
    · He or she obtained a police certificate more than one year ago; and
    · He or she still lives in the country that issued the police certificate.

    My police certificate was done in Janurary of 2012, less than 1 year ago.. I do not need to get another police certificate correct?

    3. They have all my original paperwork, during the interview is it best to ask for my orginals back and hand them over copies instead? What's easier and what would get me out of there faster? I don't really need anything original from them other than my 2 Birth Certificates.

    4. As far as proof goes, I only have pictures. Will this suffice or should I dig deep and try to find call and text records as well? My wife and I do a lot of Skype and Tango. We never call each other due to long distance fees. First couple months cost us an arm and a leg :( so we stuck with face chatting.

    5. I don't have a wedding ring yet due to my choice: My wife's financial situation isn't the greatest and I did not want to spend unnecessary money. Am I going to be judged for this in their minds? The wifey is suggesting on buying a decent ring on the cheap side($25 area). Last thing I want to do is give them ANY doubts about anything. I've been far too patient and I'm dying to be with her.
  9. If the NVC has your originals because you didn't use electronic processing, then they will forward all the originals to Montreal. Do not worry.

    To be honest most people don't normally register for Loomis until Montreal has your package from the NVC (which only occurs after they book an interview and your CEAC status says "Ready") But you've done it now so don't worry about it. Remember to bring the printout of your Loomis registration to the interview.

    You can go get a medical when you have an interview date. Panel physicians in Canada will not book you a medical without an interview letter (known on the VJ board as the P4 letter.) You will have to get a chest x-ray at the medical, there is no way around that.

    Excellent. Thank you for the response.

    To be clear, the way to go about this is to show up with my copies. Correct?

  10. I received 28 weeks of entitlement with over 1150 hours worked.

    Quit my job due to health and safety hazards. Took forever to get approval.

    I was never asked for proof of applications or anything like that.

    Just make sure you do your reports.. The sooner you do them the sooner you receive your pay.

  11. I haven't even been pulled over in my life. No problem with police and no criminal record in my life.

    I however did have to do what she says. I went to my local Commissionaires office and paid the 80 bucks. About a week later I got the later stating that I am "clear".

    The NVC would NOT continue processing my application without that paper.

    Police stations won't help you and a local RCMP detachment won't help you either. You must go to Commisionaires.

  12. Hello there, and thank you for VisaJourney.

    I received this email today:

    Dear Sir or Madam:

    The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
    of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
    and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

    The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
    until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

    The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
    the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at
    the following URL: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

    Sincerely,

    Director

    National Visa Center

    Everything seems to be straight forward from here, I signed up for Loomis Courier services.. I've done some research on this forum before registering but I am confused at some parts.

    The checklist/instructions state that I must bring originals AND copies of my documents including [birth Certificate, Marriage Certicate, and Court/Criminal records etc].

    The problem is that the NVC has ALL my original documents and I am left with my copies..

    How am I supposed to come in with originals when they have all of them?
    -I only possess photocopies.

    I went through hell obtaining a "certified birth certificate" as they wouldn't accept my original one. The new certified Birth certificate was made out of the same material as the new 20/50/100 dollar bills. As soon as I received that it was sent next day air. I only have a copy of that.

    Am I just supposed to bring copies of everything and not worry about the rest because they have all my originals?

    How long approximately until I receive my interview date from todays email?

    Can I go and get my medical done now?
    In the checklist it says the XRAY is NOT needed unless I have TB. I don't have TB.

    I am sorry if I sound needy. This whole process has taken way longer than expected. I am starting to get very nervous as the interview date will be here soon and I want to nail everything on the head.

    I miss my wife and I'm extremely anxious to start our new lives together. I just feel as if so much time has been wasted during this whole process sad.png

    Thank you all in advance.
