You say your mother in law just got her multiple entry visitor visa so when you filed for her what exactly did you say on her application that they gave her a 10 year visa? I'm asking as I'm wondering if you must state on the app why she needs a 10 yr verses a shorter time. I to will file for my mother in law and I'm praying they give her a 10 yr visitor visa also.. Any info u give is appreciated...
It was nothing my wife put on the application it all happened at the interview they asked my mother in lawwhat was the reason for her visit and she told them it was to visit family. next they asked how many kids she
had and how my wife came to the U.S and she told them her daughter my wife married an american. They
were all simple questions. It is really left up to the Consulate officer giving the interview. We were a little
surprised when she passed because people tried to discourage us from even filing but we tried it any way
sorry for the late reply hope this helps.

My wife is from the Philippines and we want to bring her mom to the u.s. on a visitor visa to help with the kids for a while
because she works and im at home with the kids but i have cerebral palsy and need help with them at times. my mother
helps me but is having some medical issues at this time. We were going to apply for both her parents because her dad
has a pension but he is having difficulty getting a passport because of an error on his birth certificate. My question is
could we still apply just for her mom. Her mom has no income and they don't on any land. they have kids there but they
are grown. Do we have a chance or no?

my wife is from the philippines and we filed the CR1 3 yrs ago and i hired a lawyer because i had no idea about
the imigration process. If I had known then what i know now i would not have hired a lawyer because u still do all
the work gathering the info all they do is fill out the paper work with the info u gave them.

I tried to set an info pass appt for Philadelphia, Pa. I was told no service adopts we're being taken check back later!
I realized that it has only been 4 months, but it don't want to be forgotten. I also called USCIS and was told that my case is in Missouri and to expect an additional 7 months. I am so frustrated right now.
The CR1 process from start to finish takes about a year total.
My wife is from the Philippines I filed her petition Jan.19th 2013 with the USCIS
and received NOA1 with priority date of Jan.22nd 2013. We were approved by
the USCIS on Nov.4th 2013. That is a period of about 9.5 months from NOA1
to NOA2 and during that time I had 2 info passes but scheduled my 1st one
after 8 months of waiting and nothing happened. I waited 3 weeks and scheduled
my 2nd info pass and actually talked to the immigration officer who 4 days later
approved my wife's petition. After approval by the USCIS on Nov.4th our file was
transferred Nov.8th to the NVC. On Nov.13th 2013 I asked for expedite at the NVC
stage and was approved so our file was sent directly to the embassy. Dec.18th she
had her medical exam and passed. Jan.6th 2014 she had her interview and Jan.8th
2014 she received her visa. Info passes do work just wait a little bit longer.

The temporary green card once endorsed in the USA is only valid for 1 year after POE.
Please go here: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-immigrant-fee
You have to pay a $165 fee and sign up on the ELIS website to get the 2 year green card.
I already went to the ELIS site and paid the 165.00 I thought that's the way it was but I wasn't sure.
when paying the payment I had some trouble when it said processing payment all the sudden it said
payment failed. I logged out and back in again to try to pay again but it wouldn't let me and on case
status it said payment submitted. I checked my bank account and they withdrew the money yesterday.
Can you tell me how long it takes for payment status to go from submitted to paid?
-
hi
are you looking at the i551 stamp on the passport?
or where does It say 1 year? on the card or in the passport
passport
How long have you been married?
1 year and she just got her visa Jan. 8th.
-
I thought it was supposed to be a 2 year conditional?
-
ELIS is sorta busted.
Check back in 2 or 3 days, monitor yer bank account for the withdrawal.
thanks Darnell

My wife received her visa yesterday and I tried to pay the 165.00 fee but don't know
if it was successful. When I got to the payment portion it asked for my info. I put it in
and it said processing payment but all the sudden it said payment failed and for me
to go back to the front of ELIS. So I logged out and back in to try the payment again
and when I did my case status said Your application/petition has been accepted and
is pending review. Payment status says submitted so why did it say payment failed
if case status says submitted?

I'm a U.S. citizen currently living with my wife and working in Japan. My wife is Japanese and we are planning on starting the application process for a CR-1 visa in January 2014.
In April 2013 we visited my hometown, San Diego, and were legally married in the U.S. She was there with me on the 90 day visa waiver program. After that we returned to our home in Japan and registered the U.S. marriage certificate there as well.
Anyway, now we actually want to move to San Diego and I'm looking to hire a lawyer to help us through the visa applicaiton process. I know that it's something that we could do on our own, but because of the nature of the bureaucracy involved, I'd rather just pay someone who has a lot of experience doing it than risk making some mistake that could potentially get us hung up.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum had had any positive experiences with a trustworthy immigration lawyer or firm that helped them. Any advice or suggestions would really help! Thank you!

your welcome
thank you a lot!! we paid already the 88dollars.. best of luck for you and your wife too!! thank you again!
-
You will pay all fees at the embassy 1 is 230 dollars and the other is 88 dollars total together 328.00
and they will be paid the day of your interview. My wife's interview date is Jan 6 same as yours.
Best Of Luck
thank you so much!! what about the fee? the 230dollars? your wife will pay it on the day of her interview? when is her interview?
-
I can help with this because i requested an expedite for my wife at the NVC and it was approved.
You can go ahead and fill out the DS-260 when it becomes available at the CEAC website. You
will submit the DS-260 online but also make a copy of your DS-260 and carry it with you to your
interview along with a filled out copy of the DS-230 just in case you need it.
please help me, who among you here got approve there expedite in nvc? i was so confused if i will fill up the ds260 because my papers got approved in nvc and it says that i will send all the papers in embassy manila.. do i have to fill up the form ds260? or i will bring a ds230 to my interview? my interview is on january 6 already.. please help me!!

Send an expedite request to this email address nvcexpedite@state.gov
You will need to state reason for expedite in your email. Our reason was
because my wife lives in the area affected by the earthquake and typhoon.
in the email you will need to provide you and your wife's name and date of
birth. Also in the subject line you need to put your NVC case number.

chats and call logs are important edit out the stuff that you don't want in there and they do consider facebook chats to.
Everything everyone else has mentioned here is a part of it and you should include at least 20 pics. The USCIS will want
documentation in your petition showing how you first met. They also want affidavits from friends and family showing that
you have a real relationship.
