  1. kearinne I wish everyone that has had an error would post in this link. even ones that have been corrected. I'd like to forward this on to a couple government officials including one to the president of the united states showing the complete inconsistancy in this process and the insanity in the amount of time its taking to get replacements. Its totally inconceivable that people are getting their entire 485 processed in 6 months but it takes more then 3 months or more to re-issue a card.

I also am writing a letter to a few officials on the fact that the USCIS does not pay .50 to get delivery confirmation on all the letters they send out like RFE's and NOA's. Just like not recieving your card in the mail is your fault or the RFE you never knew about now caused a case denial. I don't know if we can get anything done about it but if we don't all start writing letters and making phone calls we never have a chance.

  2. Congratulations......and sorry

My husband got his Green Card today also...with a womans photo on it...Not his...... Now what?

Join the club of I-90's applicee's. You need to fill out an I-90, send in your green card with a copy of the paper that it came in, with a copy of your original 485 application showing that it was an admisitrative error, a copy of your passport doesn't hurt either. Fill out the I-90 checking the box that says you filing for a replacement for an administrative error and make sure when you address the enevelope that you send it to the office that issued your greencard and use the special address linked on the USCIS website for I-90 with reasons B and D. If you have trouble finding the addresses I will look them back up but I did post all of them here somewhere but I have been trouble finding posts from 2005. Best of luck its been a roller coaster ride for all of us filing I-90's. Seems to be more confusing then filing the 485 not only to the applicants but to the service centers.

oh and all you guys with the errors please add your info to this thread

For some reason it won't let me add this in a new reply, it just keeps taggingit onto the old one, so here we go....

yup you read that right my wifes new card came in today. Everything is perfect :dance::dance::dance::thumbs: . Just stay with it guys. Keep calling and if you find someone that helps you on the phone get their direct number. That way when you call back they will be somewhat familiar with your case. Best of luck to you guys. I know that this last 3 months has been really disheartning for my wife. I felt so incredibly bad everyday we checked the mail and the new card hand't arrived she would get that far away look in her eye. not really complaing but you could see she was sad. It made her feel really out of place. Welp monday we are going to get her learners permit (she has never driven before :help: ) She is so very excited. Really made her day. I can see she feels much more secure in her place now like a huge weight has been lifted. Keep me up to date everyone on how your case works out. We are praying for you!

  4. ! Also, what's the WAC prefix?

its the CSC prefix on the NOA for these cases. Not sure if its for all correction cases but for the I-90 it is.

Good to hear most of you are getting movement ours still says this even though they said my wifes card should arrive this week

    Receipt Number: wac##########

Application Type: I90, APPLICATION TO REPLACE ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD

    Current Status:

On January 30, 2006, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

this is what it said last time I called in December except the date was December 27, 2005. I'll post as soon as we get it in the mail.

  5. We did the same thing with my mother-n-law. Heres what I can tell you.

    1. Send a letter explaining why you want her to visit. When the expected date is and how long you want her visit to be. DOn't make promises of her return or anything of that nature. Keep it not overy long and to the point. Only state the facts. like your a perm resident , how your mother meets the requirements for a tourist visa , length of her stay etc..

    2. She still needs to meet the requirements of a tourist visa (employment, owns own house, leaving family behind etc..)

    3. she will need a letter from her employer if employed showing that she will get the time off and not lose her job.

They gave my mother-n-law a tourist visa to visit us without hesitation for this issue. But she is employed she owns her own house and her employer gave her a letter stating she had the time off without loosing her employement and her 2 minor children stayed behind.

I couldn't imagine my poor wife going through her first childbirth without her mother. Now here comes the hard part we haven't found a way for my mother-n-law to come on a more permanent basis to help with our child. I have contacted a lawyer, the USCIS and my congressman and we still have yet to find a basis for a visa that she could come live with us to provide child care for our daughter. Its horrible I can't find myself to trust a stranger to care for our daughter and would give anything for my mother-n-law to be able to.

We are going to file a work petition this year and see if that will work from my the company I am employed with cause right now my daughter goes to our office everyday and it makes everything very difficult. Unfortunatly its a lengthy process. Once you get citizenship you can apply for your mother to live here permanently but since you have to wait another 2 years for your citizenship and 3-5 years after that for approval of a family petition your child will be at least 5-7 years old before it can happen :( .

Last but not least plan ahead if your a few months pregnant now get your paper work together immediately and get your appointment scheduled with the embassy. Try to get in at least 3 months before you plan for her to arrive in case something comes up that you guys need to resolve. I also don't know about visa appointment schedules for mexico but I imagine its at least a 1 or 2 months to get an appoitment.

  6. well I can't find our original topic on this but a recap is my wifes card came in the mail with the wrong sex in the end of october. Sent it out the 2nd of Nov and got an NOA 3 weeks later. Got an RFE on December 23 requesting all new biometrics and photos. I called the CSC on Dec 27th explaing that its a 3 hour drive for us to our local office and I didn't think it was fair for us to spend all that money in gas and photos and a full day's drive with our 5 month old daughter and we got extremely lucky to get a sympathetic officer. She personally talked to the agent working the case and her suprivisor and asked me to call back in a week to discuss what would happen. I called back exactly a week later and she said they were taking care of everything. They were going to recap the old card I sent in and reprint it and change the sex (duh!). Well 3 weeks went by and no green card and no change of status on our NOA in the internet. Called the same office back and she said she'd look into saying that it was crazy what they were asking us to do. Now a month went by(Jan 27) and still no card and no change called again to the same officer. She said she'd do her own request for the files and find out why no one was moving on this. While I was at the doctor today Feb 1st someone called my office from the USCIS and said my wife will have her new card in a week!:dance::dance:

Just crossing my fingers that its right but there are a few good souls at the USCIS. The officer I dealt with was a total sweetheart with a lot patience and went above and beyond to see that the CSC handled the mistake in a correct manner as to not punish us for their mistake. I will definetly be sending an appreciation card to her suprivisor even though I feel this process was ludicrus to begin with.

I wish everyone else the best of luck in their pursuits in this matter. The USCIS seriously needs to get some uniforminity as several others here with the same problem from the same CSC got many different responses like some NOA's others no, some asking for nothing, some asking for new photos, some asking for all new biometrics , photos and signature card. Pretty amazing all to correct the same problem and all from people coming off the same type of visa.

  7. Taken from kearinne from the old thread:

I'm starting this thread because there seems to be quite a few of us now with this problem and pooling our collective experiences and knowledge may help each other and anyone new to this situation. Myself - My Greencard says I'm male. My husband would quite disagree.

So here, I'll start with the info...

First: You can not e-file your I-90 application if your greencard has an error. Quote from USCIS webpage - pdf file about e-filing I-90s:

E-Filing is not for everyone, as there are certain situations where you must

paper file a Form I-90, such as:

    • If your card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS

    administrative error;

http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/Guide5.pdf has the full list of situations. I only included the one pertaining to our situation - errors

Instead, send completed I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card) and attach cover letter stating:

    1. Your full name

    2. The receipt # (MSC etc) that came with your card (should be the same as NOA1 on I-485)

    3. Your A#

    4. What exactly the error on your greencard is

    5. A list of all coppies of documents included to show the correct info about yourself (ie: Birth Certificate, Passport, Marriage Certificate)

Now, if you read the instructions that come with the I-90, it says you have to bring the original card and documents to your ASC (Application Support Center) when they give you an interview - WRONG. When I called the 1-800 #, I was told to send the original Permanent Resident Card with the I-90 Application, so I did. There are also "Special Instructions" people in our situation must follow, not the instructions that come with the I-90 form. This was confirmed with the news release on the USCIS webpage (pdf file below).

You must sent the card to the last Service Center that dealt with your I-485 application. This is the address I was told to send it to as mine was transfered to CSC.

    California Service Center

    Attn: I-90 "d"

    P.O. Box 10090

    Laguna Niguel, CA 92607-1009

There is NO fee for this. For more information on intructions and addresses, please read this PDF file:

    http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/ne...I-90_050908.pdf

Now, what I do not know is if you eventually get an NOA for this form as I have not received one yet. I sent my I-90 on January 19th and haven't heard anything back yet. I also do not know what to do after sending the I-90 besides wait... So please, if you have more information concerning this or any new questions, add to this thread. We can do nothing but help one another out by sharing our experiences and knowledge.
