  1. Yes,  I knew that, but just making sure I knew-  I have tried to get things going on her naturalization several times but nothing yet.  Time to get going now.  Thank you each and everyone of you for your comments.  This web site is amazing and has incredible value.

I will I’ll have to find a class that she can go to for help—. That’s the first thing on my to do list..

    thank you always

    Frank

  2. Here I am again...  it has been YEARS since I have been here, I always remain grateful for all the help and answers I got along “OUR Visa Journey “.

My wife and two daughters have all been getting established here and we are almost living happily ever after.  Let me explain....  in short my wife is REALLY REALLY missing her family, especially her mom.  Her Mom probably would not pass the tourist visa requirements, I been down that road before and know that is a dead end.....

How can we get her MoM here?

my wife still holds her permanent residence (green card) and has not made any attempt at a citizenship test yet.  That could be a while, She struggles with English although she is always getting better..

We need advice on how to get her mom here, and eventually her younger brother too.

appreciate any advice - this is my first question regarding this matter and preparing myself to “jump into” this poo, again....  after getting all dry and warmed up in the sun.

    Thank You in advance.

    Frank and MAYRA

  3. Well it has been just over a year since my wife finally arrived, my stepdaughters case took another 8 months to finish not to mention ANOTHER trip to get things fixed.

Although we are all here I am thinking of the next step(s) Naturalization. My wife is attending English classes twice a week through the public school system and they also offer naturalization instruction as well. We are not there yet it will be another two years before she qualifies.

My concerns are with the names and if we didn't get things squared up. let me explain.

We are a family of four. I will use fictitious names to explain-

    My name is Michael Door

My wife's name is Angela Lopez Rodrigues Caballo ( RODRIGUES BEING HER FATHERS NAME AND CABALLO BEING HER MOTHERS NAME)

She had a daughter and her daughter listed the father as Carlos Benitez so my stepdaughters name is listed as

Sharon Benitez LOPEZ RODRIGUES Benitez coming from her listed father, and LOPEZ RODRIGUES coming from her mothers name

we also have a second daughter of whom I am the biological father and her name is Latoya DOOR RODRIGUES ( Door being fathers name and Rodrigues being mothers name)

well.... you can see that this is all screwed up what we would like to do is get all the names straight and Americanized at this time but before we apply for naturalization for my wife -

My wife and stepdaughter both have their green cards - my youngest daughter is already a Citizen of the USA, like me.

we would like to be known as

    Michael Door

    Angela Rodrigues Door

    Sharon Rodrigues Door

    Latoya Rodrigues Door

I just don't know HOW to do that- we were married in Honduras - 7 years ago, we never changed their passports - all through the immigration process the paperwork was processed as their passports read so the green cards were issued as the names indicated on the passports. I have NOT adopted my step daughter - I looked into that and it seemed even MORE complicated than the immigration process - from what I understand once her mom becomes a US citizen she as a minor child will automatically become a USA Citizen.

can anyone shine any light on this subject please- and if you want to take it off line I can be contacted at frankdotdirrATgmaildotcom

    thank you

  4. Have not read ALL the posts but thought I would throw in my two cents.

We applied two times for a tourist visa while our application was pending and turned down both times.

Spoke to the consular officer on the phone and he said- without significant changes we had no chance, and we had no changes. so we waited.

    BUT--

I know personally people who have been approved for a tourist visa that had much more questionable situations than mine--

If in the same situation - I would still apply and see what it got me, better to ask and they say no than to not ask at all.

  5. If the visa is denied it is either a 221g and more evidence is sent to the embassy or the petition is sent back to the USCIS who will send you a letter, notice of intent to revoke (or deny) and give you the opportunity to send more evidence. What evidence may depend on why the embassy denied you. Then they make a decision and either you have to file again orit's sent back to the embassy for a second interview.

Well I found myself back on the website and I can tell you about ONE scenario, at our interview last August my wife's case was approved but my stepdaughters case was denied and I was given a 221g, after waiting 2 years 8 months and three days, we made a difficult decision but my wife and biological daughter came home with me and our stepdaughter went to live with her grandmother while we worked on the 221g.

The same day of the interview I spoke to an attorney in Honduras, an attorney whom I had worked with several times in the past and is capable - we estimated it shouldn't be that long, well working on the documents needed getting sworn statements and apostille stamps etc etc- months were going by now.

Another difficult decision was made but an inevitable decision that my wife and daughter return to Honduras to be with our oldest daughter - we sad NO MORE Than 6 months, well 6 months came and they left to go back to Honduras, the same week that they left, the attorney finally told me he has exhausted all efforts and can not get me what I need- THE SAME day I got that email from him I went BACK to my Congressman's office - I had been there once before more than a year ago, and I updated him on my situation and we have come up with a NEW PLAN-- so I am still working on that DREADED 221g.

the bright side is I am gaining all sorts of knowledge and experience in this process, and hearing different stories one thing is for certain- EACH CASE IS AS UNIQUE as a fingerprint and all you can do is prepare and do your best. fortunately an attorney in Honduras is not as expensive as one in the USA, but application fees and traveling expenses that would not be necessary if we didn't have any delays are growing-- it is an expensive adventure - and the more delays the more expensive for me anyway.....

first post in a while- I have TIME on my hands again now that I am not spending time with my family- Our three year old was in preschool for 6 months, she was acclimating very well in the USA learning English and doing great- I can only hope and pray that we are just weeks away from a resolution as my congressman said....

My situation is unique so it should not SCARE you.

  6. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED-

Tonite I can rest a little easier- although passing some of these milestones have also been satisfying...

Our Passport is "ready for pickup"

so Tomorrow (Sunday) - we rest- early start Monday checking out, picking up Visa and bus ride back to SPS. One more night in Honduras- we will go back to the same hotel we were at and spend the day at the pool-- late flight Tuesday night and arrive Wed AM.

It is all kind of surreal and a little disappointing because we will be shy of one family member but- that will not be anywhere near as difficult to solve.

I must admit- I am celebrating -- hard to stop smiling...

    what a journey..

  7. Had the interview yesterday- wifes case approved, stepdaughters case still pending...

waiting on delivery via cargo express-- if we had the interview a month ago the system was different you picked it up in person the following day- now you MUST use cargo express--

The Consular officer said that he would do everything he could to get the passport out so we can catch our flight next Tue evening--

I am returning to USA / (work) with my wife and daughter finally... Our oldest daughter will follow soon after - she vacationing with grandma for a month or two until we clear up her papers...

the whole thing has always been so ANTI - climatic-- two steps forward one step back...

best advice I can give is memorize the serenity prayer and use it daily.

  8. My husband was actually in the same case! Full time student so he wasn't required to file taxes. The only difference is that he was filed as a dependent on his father's taxes. Don't know if it changes anything. But they didnt ask for anything at the interview. Because I heard about the poor couple who went through AP for this we did prepare a copy of the IRS website stating that he didn't have to file taxes. Hope this helps!

Yes, I imagine that every case is based on its own merit, depending on the "whole" package things may be different, but I "believe" a written explanation, notarized along with a copy of the appropriate year IRS TAX GUIDE showing the minimum income requirements to generate an income tax return will document the situation-- my income was below the requirement in 2011 and that is what I was advised. we will see on the 6th!!

  9. This is not good: consulate system for processing passports and visas has crashed.

    http://apne.ws/1z55ZEb

I agree- NOT good- but things happen for reasons--

all along I been making lemonade--

I have grown through this process- rolling with the punches--

not easy but I carry the serenity prayer with me in times of need.

You cant make this stuff up- reality is stranger than fiction, I MUST write this all down someday soon. although I don't think I will ever forget the delays and delays and delays.

  10. I read this in US DEPARTMENT OF STATE: CONSULAR AFFAIR facebook page.attachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpg

I am not sure WHAT that means, I see a similar notice on the TEGUC EMB web site

    http://honduras.usembassy.gov/iv.html

I have not been contacted directly -I have my appointment, my plane tickets, our plans etc etc etc....

not to mention the emotional investment- my wife and I have been literally counting the days to the appointment date- so much so that there is NO WAY I am not sticking with my plans and going-

regardless for what they say, 2 years 8 months and 2 days is my limit.. whatever their issue is they better be able to fix it by 8/6 7am

  11. Yea,

Well since its only my wife then for TB they do a chest x-ray, on top of that they do a blood test and the results are sent to the doctor of choice a couple of blocks away from the lab. Then the docs performs the physical and shots while the X-rays and blood test comes up and is deliver. This is all done in one day. For children, the TB test is performed differently and i believe it takes 2-3 days.

Also this is in south america, i don't know which is tour consulate, it might be different

my petition is for wife AND daughter and they are both getting medical- one adult and one child - so that makes sense.. I read up on TB testing online and they do wait up to 72 hours --

    sooooo close.

    thanks

    fd

  12. Just checking in

Hubby and stepdaughter did medical Monday.

He said it was a longgggg day. They got 8 shots total and paid 700.00US

    13days until interview.

Hope he can make it here by last week in August so she can start school on time.

The Medical is $600 in Honduras.... we paid about $20 at the public Hospital when our daughter was born in 2009-- to put it in perspective. They made my wife wait 72 hours for results of TB test? I am beginning to think that is not the norm. Did you complete it all in one day? she is returning tomorrow for the packets.-- its a looong three days

  13. FYI, CEAC does not always show the latest information. For my wife's case, it still shows Administrative Processing, even though I received an e-mail from ustraveldocs over 8 hours ago saying that her passport would be sent today, and then I learned from the courier (Pony Express) website that it was picked up from the embassy almost 4 hours ago. So now it's in transit, and I feel much better.

Here's something I found helpful. You can send an e-mail to: passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com, and just put the passport number in the subject line (nothing else in the subject or body of e-mail). You then get a pretty quick auto-reply that tells you what's happening. Earlier today, I received, "Your passport is still with post." But now, I get, "In Transit From Post." :)

But CEAC still says Administrative Processing...

    Thats Good Info!!

  14. Thought I would check in-- been a few days since I checked in..

my thoughts are on the Medical...

I guess it is normal to take a few days to complete the medical-- my family went to Teguc to get medical (& new "acceptable" birth certificate) in preparing for the 8/6 interview--

5 or 6 hours travel time, hotels, etc etc-- then the Doctor wants to make an appointment for 8/2!!!!(not) -- got in yesterday and I guess tested for TB and have to wait 72 hours to get results!

Are Medicals always this time consuming- hanging out in a hotel in Teguc ....

almost there... cant wait to be FREE of this..

I leave on 8/1 from here to travel to Honduras and meet my wife on 8/3 then we travel BACK to Teguc on the 4th- interview on the 6th!! fly home on the 13th (knock on wood)

  15. Hi Vj family!

I am happy to announce that my husband's visa has been issued. We were in AP 39 long days. I would like to thank Dwheel, saylin for all the hard work you do for everyone in this forum, thank to all helped me through this long journey. God Bless you. (F)

First of all, congrats. a couple of questions if you don't mind....It took 39 days from approval at interview? What is 39 days in AP? your interview was on 6/9th--what happened at the interview?

have you heard of anybody being denied at the interview?

    I saw this one.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=114877

  16. yes, it's necessary. they want certified copies at the interview - at least in singapore. not sure about honduras, you might want to check in with your regional forum.

i don't know what country you're interviewing at but in singapore, you carry your original birth certificate to the interview. you do not need to send it in. the process for the consulate in your country may be different.

Well, I sent my ORIGINAL to USCIS- with my I130-- but I guess your right- would hate to be at the LAST STEP and they lost it or don't have it- so I went ahead and bought another original- lets look at it as a $50 insurance policy-- spent thousands why worry about something like that to screw things up--- soooooo tired of this..

better safe than sorry is what they say.

  17. Hi guys! Now i'm sad and dissapponted.. :( my husband the peritioner went for his medical at St. Lukes on tuesday and yesterday wednesday they told him to come back for his immunization but they ended up telling him he needs to undergo sputum test on july 30,31 & aug 1.. Because they found a scar in his lung. Now we are delayed for two months.. :(

I am confused... your PETITIONER had a medical exam?

    He is US Citizen ?

  18. you need a certified copy of your divorce certificate. contact the county clerks office where the divorce was finalised and they will issue one for you (usually pretty cheap, less than $20?). once you give them the missing documents, it shouldn't be more than 4 weeks (and that was over the xmas and new year's period for the person i am thinking of) for your fiance to get her passport back with the visa.

I purchased a certified copy of my divorce decree and sent it in with our application-- I only have a copy now- they should have the original-- I been contemplating PURCHASING another divorce decree- but do you think that is necessary? I have nightmares about something like this coming up- as much as I plan and prepare--

its got to be devastating-- but out of our control after the fact.

  19. Hi all--

Just wanted to share good news. Today (I am visiting my husband in Mexico City), I went with him to the US Embassy as he had his interview for his tourist visa. We are waiting approval of the I-130 and took a risk of getting his tourist visa so he can visit me in Colorado during this process. He was treated really well at the embassy and they didn't ask him many questions, said that he was going to visit his wife's family and attend his brother-in law's wedding (which is true, the wedding is in October). They approved his visa without any hassle, so now we are really excited that he will be able to go to Colorado and visit while we are waiting for the rest of the process!

Hope this helps anyone wondering if this is a possibility! Go for it!

    Good luck to all,

    K

We tried that and were denied. -- you are lucky to have the time together- enjoy!!

  20. Hey guys - do I need to register at usatraveldocs.com?

I think this is an embassy specific question, I know that for HONDURAS you have to PRE register with them and choose a office for your papers to be delivered to via cargo express and that is done on the travel docs web page ( I had to call them to get it done)--

THis is something that just recently changed for Honduras- prior to last month you did NOT have to choose a cargo express-- I would do it anyways just to make sure you cover all your bases and check your embassy for any special requirements they may have--

    prepare and prepare some more-

    good luck

  21. This is by FAR the most nerve racking time of this process, in Three weeks our interview will be complete. All the preparing in the last YEARS has come to this, thank goodness for this website and be obsessive about being prepared-- even still they are tryng to throw us a curve ball. In the LAST 30 days, some changes have been made by the HONDURAN Consulate, they no longer accept the LONG VERSION of the birth certificate but now ONLY ACCEPT a new format called the BOOK OF BIRTHS, which apparantly is a microfish or printout of the official registry and has to be certified-- well we are running around in the last minute getting this for the interview. Thanks to a fellow VJ member who has his interview shortly after mine he pointed this FACT out to me. I called the NVC and said had they known about this? is there a DATE when this took effect, all he did was pull up the HONDURAN Embassy web site and read the same thing I was reading -- but the interesting thing is if you look on other pages of the website it contradicts itself, his advice was just get it, and even though they accepted the LONG VERSION of the passports until recently they can do or say whatever they want. ANOTHER CHANGE they made was in the delivery of the approved VISA, in the past it was always come back the next day and pick up the VISA, but now you must preregister with DHL (cargo Express) and wait to get it sent to you--- I guess if I am worried about the delivery of the VISA I dont have to worry about the interview if that makes any sense- but-- our flight is 6 days after the interview and NOW all of a sudden they have digured out a way to stress me out even AFTER the interview...

I am blabbering but HERE of all places you should understand WHY we blabber on - and let this drive us CrAzY!

hoping for the best- I start my trip on Friday evening August 1st- and will be reuinited with my three princess' on August 4 at 2 am... that alone is reason to TRY to calm down. The JOURNEY in the name VJ is very appropriate.
