  1. Hey everybody!

    February filer here as well.

    Filed on 02/26, with NOA1s on 03/05.

I received an appointment for Biometrics today (3/17/14) at 1.00PM (thank you mailman!), decided to try a walk-in on the very same date (the time to open the letter and grab my ID), and I was SUCCESSFUL!

I arrived at my USCIS Local Field Office (Oakland Park, FL) at 2PM, the security guards did not even look at my appointment letter, and did not ask any questions.

I filled out a form, received a number, and waited approximately 10 minutes to be called. The lady processing my application was extremely pleasant, she took my fingerprints and photo, and that was it!

I walked in and out of the USCIS building in about 25 minutes.

I hope this will speed things up!

Unfortunately, nothing was updated on the USCIS website (I registered ALL three forms: I-485, I-765, I-131), has this happened to any of you as well? Everything was last updated on 03/06/2014.

Yes the "no update on website" happened to me. I think nothing happens to most people straight after getting their biometrics so I wouldn't worry :-)

  2. something to add to that:

if you got married under a K1 Visa and changed your name within that marriage, then you will only be able to get your SSN under the new name,

once you received the EAD, because as of now you are in the system with your maiden name.

So the Social Security Office can only give you the SSN under your maiden name, I decieded that I will wait till I get my EAD,

to not make things more complicated.

    good luck everyone

Valid Point! Thanks for that smile.png

  3. Hello Everyone!

    Good day!

It seems like USCIS Case Status page is now up and running, then checked my status and a mail has been sent for my interview appointment letter on the 26th of March. It was sent on February 23.

Nevertheless, I still need my EAD card so I can woooork and get an SSN! sleepy.gifClockWatch2.gif

    Hey,

Just to let you know you can still get your SSN without the EAD card (to speed things up :-) )

All you need is your K1 visa in your passport and print off the I-94. I did mine yesterday. The lady just told me that the SSN card would state that you need work authorization to work. Took about ten minutes to apply and can take up to two weeks in the post :-)

  4. Listen to the advice, you cant work legally without the work permit, you will have to pay the $1070 like it or not,i know someone who was deported for working illegally in a relatives restaurant. Why not do what i did before i left England, for a year i took on a second weekend job to save up because i knew it would be a while before i could work,my fiance also worked extra hours and did a summer job at weekends too, could you not borrow money from relatives ? best of luck

    Thanks the advice :-)

Definitely wasn't going to work illegally. I thought I could apply and use my EAD when I got my K1 visa...only to find out after posting this topic that the EAD expires when the K1 expires! Think we will just pay the $1070 straight after the wedding.

    Thanks again!!

  5. Hi All,

My Fiancee and I have applied for a K1 visa and we look on track to be married in May-2014.

We are trying to save as much money as possible before/after we're married, and was just wondering if there is a deadline to apply for "adjustment of status" after the marriage? We couldn't really afford $1000 straight after! It would just be helpful to wait 2 or 3 months before I do it (i.e. I find a job).

    Thanks!

  6. hello guys

according to our experience NVC did not send us any e-mail. USCIS sent packet to NVC on 22 November, and NVC received it on 29 November but we called them and they gave us the case number. we did not receive any e-mail from them. and yesterday on 3 December NVC sent packet to the embassy.

when you call the NVC and if they ask you to tell them petitioner's and beneficiary's date of birth it means they have case number.

if they dont ask you to provide that info it means they have no case number yet

    good luck

    Thanks :-)

  7. Hi John&Britt,

TSC shipped our case on 11/21 and they received it on 12/02. I've been hearing from others also it's about 10 calendar days from shipping give or take a few. I was calling a few days before and they didn't have it, but then last night, bingo! They gave me the case number over the phone after I provided some info. They will mail you the info but you can get it a lot faster on the phone and then be able to track its progress.

    Thanks very much!!

  8. Thanks for the info imsantosh!

When I look on Igors List it seems that there is quite a few people still waiting for approval who got their NOA1 on the 14th August...I really would like to know why some approvers are so much faster than others.

I shouldn't complain though as I know there is still a number of pre-August petitions still to be approved, but I'm just a very impatient person :-)
