I went and updated my Social Security info today.....waited about 35 minutes to be called, then it took about 5 minutes to get it done.

Hi !

Since so many have done the interview let me ask a nagging question about the civics test.

Many questions ask for one, two, three answers specifically.

Some questions have one answer but will show different variations/ways to answer (ie. statue of liberty: new york / liberty island) where one is enough.

But my doubt is around questions where multiple answers are given, are we expected to say all of them or one will do?

examples:

2. What does the Constitution do?

• sets up the government
• defines the government
• protects basic rights of Americans

12. What is the “rule of law”?

• Everyone must follow the law.
• Leaders must obey the law.
• Government must obey the law.
• No one is above the law.

37. What does the judicial branch do?

• reviews laws
• explains laws
• resolves disputes (disagreements)
• decides if a law goes against the Constitution

Lastly, i'm naturalizing because of my USC spouse. I thought she doesn't have to come but searching the forums I've seen cases where spouses attended the interview. What's the exact deal with that?

Oath ceremony was held at our local immigration office at 10am with 26 people from 15 different countries crossing over to being American citizens.

Everyone was polite, the ceremony was quick and interesting. We had a few representatives from Congress sitting in.

We got our certificates, which were presented in nice certificate holders (wasn't expecting that). They told us to check for errors as it will cost $350 if you discover any error after the day of presentation. So guys make sure to spend a few minutes and go over every word on your certificate before leaving. She also told us we could sign it when we get home and not to laminate (important).

Thanks VJ supporters for all the hard work in giving advice and keeping each other sane.

For those of us who are done, please continue to be on this website to help those that are coming through the pipe line.

It only took 123 days from start to finish for the N400......I mailed it March 25th and became a citizen July 26th........4 months 1 day!

I became a permanent resident back in 2005, so thought it was about time to end my immigration journey.

Will someone make my timeline red!

I'm officially a U.S citizen! had my oath ceremony this morning.....39 other people and I at the ceremony. It lasted about 45 minutes and the judge stayed around at the end for people to take pictures with him.....all in all it was a really nice morning!

Finished dealing with USCIS after 13 years.

My oath ceremony is in 2.5 hours time.....almost done!

I have my oath ceremony on Tuesday 26th, can't believe we're almost done dealing with the immigration service (although I've only had one tiny problem about 10 years ago with a cut on my finger....I couldn't get my prints done until it was clear)

Anyway, I was wondering if it's ok to take a stroller into the ceremony? I have a 20 month old son, and he'll be wanting to nap while it's on. The place the ceremony is at is a small courtroom (I think they do 30 or so new citizens twice a month) at my local place.

I am not home right now , gonna be on monday so did not check my mail box ...but i don't think they did send it ,cause the status is not changed ..i dont know the reason why its like this ...but i really hope to see the mail in my mail box ))) ,cause when i got my fingerprint notice my status did not change too ,,,, lets see what is gonna happen

Some people have had their oath ceremony and their online status still says in line for interview. No need to worry just yet

Got my Oath Ceremony letter in the mail today. My ceremony is July 26th. Just a few more weeks until I'm a citizen!!!

In the email it says "Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval."

So we should get either the July 12th ceremony or the 26th!

I hate the weekends.....it's always so quiet!

Hi guys just get out from my interview and walking towards my car !!! Angelus71 congratulation to you that you had pass the interview !!! So my interview took about 10 minutes , i was there 5 minutes before my interview and my officer called my name exactly at my interview time !!! She was really friendly ,the whole process was almost the same as Angelus 71 she only asked my passport,green-card driver license and the interview letter , she did start with civic test 1.what is the amendment 2.who is the current us president 3 ,the capital city of your state 4.how many us senators are there 5. The supreme law of the land 6. Two us holidays !!! I really do forget about reading and writing but it was really easy !!! And at the and she ask me to sign my two photos and couple more papers ,and after all she gave me an interview letter which is said a) congratulations you have been recommended for approval ,,but she did not say how long its gonna take to get a oath ceremony letter but she looked up at the schedule of oath ceremony and said that most probably mine oat is gonna be at july 12 or 26 !! But my online status did not change ,it still at interview was scheduled i know dont know why it did not change to in line for oath ceremony !!?

It should say.... I’ll receive a letter in 2 – 3 weeks for my oath ceremony. Instead of I’ll receive a latter in 2 – 3 weeks for my oath ceremony.

Back from my interview. I passed! It was really, really easy.

I arrived 25 minutes early, went through security check, then upto the waiting room on the 6^th floor.

My appointment was for 10:20am and I was called in at almost 10:30am.

The female officer was polite and friendly as she led me to her office.

I was placed under oath to tell the truth, and then she said we’ll start with the civics test.

My 6 questions were:

1. What movement fought to end racial discrimination? (Civil Rights)

2. Who was the first president of the U.S? (George Washington)

3. Who is the governor or our state? (Jay Inslee)

4. Name two U.S holidays? (New year’s day & Christmas)

5. Where is the Statue of Liberty? (New York Harbor)

6. What is one promise you make when you become a U.S citizen? (Be loyal to the United States)

Then was the reading question – “Who lives in the White House?”

I was asked to write “The President lives in the White House”

Then she said congratulations, you’ve passed the history & English test!

Then she went over my application asking questions, I answered them all and then signed my 2 pictures, and check the information that she says will be on my certificate.

She said I had passed the interview and I’ll receive a latter in 2 – 3 weeks for my oath ceremony.

My interview lasted about 8 minutes from start to finish!

She never asked for any documents except my passport, drivers license and green card. I had birth certificates, marriage certificates and other documents. I said I have my wife's birth certificate, she said it's ok, she had a copy in my file.
