The letter he gave you says you passed, and that you'll be getting official notice in the mail within 2 weeks of your set place and time for your oath.  Maybe you get lucky and have it at that carnival, maybe not.  He probably isn't fully in control of that, but maybe he could simplly request it.  My wife just went through interview on 8/21 and the following week got a letter for her Oath, which is scheduled for 9/16 in downtown detroit courthouse.   So, everything you do with USCIS involves a letter and usually is mailed, so that's your next step and I presume you'll have it by next week or at latest week after (due to Labor Day holiday), and you're oath is usually about a month or so after your successful interview.

As for passport, I do not know for sure.  we'll be researching that now and applying right after the oath on 9/16.  I believe you have to get photos on your own, go to an office to apply (Post office?  not sure), and file the correct paperwork.  I'm sure its on the government website.

    Hello,

I had my interview yesterday (08/28) in Detroit and it was VERY short (10 minutes) and I guess everything went really well. The interviewer said that he was going to check if there were seats available for a special oath ceremony that will be held in Troy, MI, during a carnival, on September 12. He gave me letter stating that my oath ceremony will be in 2 weeks. He literally hand delivered it to me.

My case has changed to approved overnight, but it doesn't say when my oath ceremony will be. In fact, it says that the estimated time to complete the application is December.

    So, a few questions:

How did this happen? I don't think USCIS will send me an oath ceremony letter. And if they do, I probably won't get in time. I'm just hoping the questionnaire and the letter I was giving yesterday is enough. And for those that have gone through this before, what do I need to bring in order to apply for a U.S. passport on site? Photos? Cash?

    Thank you! :)

  2. Hello All

I am about to file in the Detroit Field office for N-400, I have already completed the ROC early this year. Have all documents ready and plan to apply on line, there is only one thing that makes me concern, there is an error on my child birth certificate, where my birthday date is incorrect, the day in specific, the year and the month are correct. I have read comments about name changes, traffic tickets not declared on the filing, and declared during the interview but I haven't seen anything about dates; Don't know if to have that fix first before filing or not. Anyone with a similar situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  3. Hello All,

I am an October 2016 filer and here is my update:

Follow the advise on creating an account on the USCIS website, once there, I added both cases numbers, the one initially received after filing I-751 and the one received at bio metrics.

    * CRI-89 case number: continue with the same update, they received the case and waived the fees.

    * I-751 case number:

Received two updates on the website:

Feb/26 and March/05, advising that the case was moved to my local office.

March/15: Got 2 emails with the notice "we have taken action on your case". When to my account and there are two updates:

    - "we have update your date of birth": I am not sure why this needed to be up dated, so just wanting on notice in the mail.

    - "we have update your name": when filing for I-751 I requested to have my name update.

March/16: an other email with same notice "with have taken action on your case:.

     -   "we approved your case", and its dated March/15. so looks like everything was done within a day.

    image.png.d428f6fe21c6c05de81bf306f20584d5.png

Just as everybody else, I was very skeptical about this updates, specially because the one saying that the case was transfer to the local office, seems to be duplicated or looked ore like a bulk email,  rather then a notice directed to my case. Considering the last updates on this forum looks like once the cases were passed to the local offices, thing started to move along.

My husband and I are very happy today as we feel like everybody else here, its been forever!. Now just keep on waiting on the notice in the mail and also keep an eye on the date of birth to make sure its correct.

My advise is, if you have not open an account, go ahead and do it, and you get more updates there, than on the mail.

    Good luck everybody!

hI everyone - just checking.  Does not look like everyone on this thread is Oct I-751 Filers.  Those who are - any news for any of you?  Last time I called they were still working on June 2016 filings.  Planning on calling again this week.  Just want to make sure I'm not all alone here the only one thats not heard anything.  Thanks so much! :-)

Filed in October 2016 and had interview in Detroit just as you in December.  But haven't heard anything since.  I will start stressing out at the end of the summer when we approach 1 full year.  Slowly getting anxious though.

  6. Hi all,

My 10 year old nephew just got his Mexican passport and B2 visitor visa approved, and my wife and I are hoping he can come and stay with us in Michigan for the summer.

I'm concerned about health insurance and liability however. Any advice on health insurance while he's here? I'm basically worried when he's playing around, if he breaks an arm or something like that while riding a bike or playing, that I will get stuck with a VERY big bill to treat him in the USA. Does his health insurance from Mexico cover him here? If not, am I liable for his health coverage when he's visiting. I don't think my wife or I are considered "sponsors" of him as his Visa is a B2, so I don't think we are legally connected to him for coverage.

    Any recommendations/advice is appreciated. Thanks

    Tom

  7. Its more expensive to assume, book, and then have to change/cancel a flight that's not refundable than it is to just book last minute. When my wife and I went to Juarez for her interview, I made the assumption it would take 1-2 days to get the stamped passport with temp green card approval back from the embassy. I was wrong. it took 4 days to get it, and thus my flight I booked was wasted. I spent the money return flight already and didn't go, and then had to pay again for another flight. (there was a $200 change fee, which was more than the cost of the ticket). In the future, i plan to only book the flight when documents are in hand, as the websites recommend, and not gamble like i did.

  8. Last year, a LOT of people, including me, and maybe all people, got a letter stating that all actions by NVC are increasing from the normal 30 business days to 60 days. When you consider the shear # of applicants, this is not surprising.

After 16 months in the CR1 process, my wife got her green card last month. One of the things her interviewer kind of joked about that when she eventually becomes a citizen, she should ask her congressman and lawmakers to vote and direct more money toward the immigration department, to allow for faster, more efficient, and more robust immigration processing. Even though we got through the big hump of the immigration process, we plan to be active still on this forum, and she does plan to follow the immigration reform so that others in the future may be luckier than us currently in this slower period for NVC.

  9. I agree with Republic Wireless. I bought my wife a Moto G phone from them for $150, and pay $29 TOTAL per month, and its seamless. It goes to wifi when it can for calls and data, and 3G and normal voice when it can't find wifi. And it just works. Now, we haven't traveled too much outside of Michigan other than a visit to El Paso, but in those locations, it worked great. And unlimited everything, plus a phone I like more than my iphone 5s, I'm pretty jealous of the plan I got her.

  10. Thanks for the advice everyone. We did get it renewed and it was amazingly easy. It was impossible getting a hold of someone to schedule an appointment at the Mexican Consulate in Detroit while my wife is visiting here, so we gave up and went directly to the office. It was a very slow day there, as usually there's a ton of people. But today, only 2 others in front of us in line. When we explained the situation, they processed her quickly and we had a new passport within 1 hour.

    All good now. Thanks again.

  11. My wife's scheduled CR-1 Interview is in Juarez, Mexico on Dec. 19. We just noticed her passport expires May 8, 2015, which calculates to be 5.75 months after the interview. The requirements for documentation state that it should be at least 6 months for expiration on the passport.

Has anyone had this problem, and was it an issue for the interview/process?

    Thanks

  12. What is the most efficient and cost effective way to convert Mexican Pesos to US Dollars when moving from Mexico to the US. We are nearing the completion of the immigration process for IR/CR-1 Visa, and my wife wants to move her money in her bank to a US account. (either her own, which i don't think she can get until she gets a social security #), Or my account in the USA.

Do you have to do a foreign exchange site? Use ATMs to take the money out when she's here?

any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  13. Do you remember the name of the clinic they sent you to once CMI was full? Was CMI the big brown buildiing? I know its been several years since this happened, so i totally understand if you can't remember.

Also, how did you go about making your appointment at ASC for fingerprints? I'm sure I can find it on the site, but i'm going through a lot of info now that we just go our interview letter, and i'm just so excited to get the process/info organized.

    Thanks

    tom

Well, my fiancee´s medical when okay. She told me that they gave her a new number at the second medical clinic. Her number was 119. This was before 6:00 am. It took 6 hours at the medical clinic. ohmy.gif She was told to return at 4:00 pm for her results. We also have an appointment at the ASC at 3:50 pm. I hope we can finish the finger printing fast. Then we can get her medical results. After that we will be done for the day. smile.gif

    She is napping now. :sleepy:

  14. I just received an email, not regular mail. And yes it took my case 7 days for them to send me the interview letter with the interview date for Ciudad Juarez

    Thanks JoAnderson for the update.

Just one more question, are you counting your case complete date the day you get a letter that starts off by saying "Dear Sir/Madam, All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and the attorney (if applicable) will be notified".?

I got this letter on 10/23/14 through email. But I did call prior to getting that letter and the operator told me my case was complete on 10/16.

Either way, today would be 8 days since 10/23, and 15 days since 10/16, so I would expect something soon on the interview schedule. But I'm just curious as to what to put for the case complete date on Visa Journey so that its as accurate as possible for others.

Thanks again, and good luck in a couple of weeks.

    Tom

  15. This is probably shown in Visa Journey's guides somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.

Is the communication from the Mexican Juarez US Consulate for the interview to be scheduled come through email or through regular mail, or both? And I assume whatever it is it would go to both petitioner and the beneficiary.

I called NVC and we got notice that on 10/16 our case was complete. On 10/23, we got two letters (one in email, one in regular mail). Email simplyu said all docs were received and we will be notified when interview is scheduled. Regular mail letter stated something about an address change, but from what I read, it was in regards to the case would now be handled by the Juarez Consulate.

I've updated the November log on Visa Journey with my current date, but am now anxious on getting that interview date. From what I read, it looks like it takes about 7-10 days (not business days but regular days) to get a date scheduled, Hoping that's true because that means I'd be getting a date scheduled either this week or early next at the latest, just don't know how that will be communicated to me yet.

Thanks for any help people can provide.

    Tom & Gladys

  16. I just got this letter today from the NVC. I called NVC about 2 days ago and the operator said the case was complete on 10/16. Does this letter, issued on 10/23, indicate the "NVC Left" date on the VisaJourney timeline? Just want my timeline to be as accurate as possible to help both me track the dates, and for others to are interested.

    Thanks
