My AOS package was delivered to the lockbox on January 30th (27 days ago), but I’ve heard absolutely nothing (check hasn’t even been cashed). Any other late January fliers experiencing a similar delay?

Hi. My sister case as same as you. Tried to call today follow press number  1, 2, 2, 1, 6 but wrong. Here this number you needs to try 1800 375 5283 press 1-1 - 2- 2. Then someone will talk to you. My sister sent January 28. Called today and case number was February 24.

    Hi Tighfield

As for the instructions packet,  you will be asked to prepare followings. But depending on which embassy you are receiving the packet, it may differ some docs.

    1. DS-160 & Profile

    2. Assemble Documents and fee (Police certificate, photos, Affidavit of Support, Medical exam report, etc)

    3. Make an Appointment after all docs are prepared)

I believe you’d better check the interview checklist for your embassy homepage.

Thanks Kamkiri. She is living in Tokyo. So she will have interview in Tokyo. I don't know any steps different with Viet Nam or not. But she already have Police certificate of Japan, Viet Nam And waiting police certificate of Singapore . l just dont know does she have to wait till she get packet 3 then pay fee and book interview ?

Usually you will not receive the P3 letter in the mail. Do an online service request. They will respond typically in 2 -3 days with the instruction (P3). You will need to submit D-160 and pay the visa fee, then schedule the medical afterward. Technically, you will need the P3 to complete the medical exam, although some have gotten by with just the interview confirmation. I wouldn't risk it and would just request that they email it to you via: https://vn.usembassy...a-inquiry-form/  When using the form be sure to add in the comments section the last 4 digits of your SSN or they will email you back asking for it which causes further delays.

Here is some information including the Embassy P3 for you to get a head start

Finally I received the instructions packet from the US embassy today!!

I’m able to request a Police certificate to Singapore finally as I do not know how long it takes....

Does anyone know about SSN part on DS-160?

When I was studying the US, I had a SSN. However, since I lost the card and I don’t remember the number anymore, I don’t know what to input. Should I input “ does not apply” as there is no “ Do not know”?

    Appreciate your help to advise.

  6. I see what you all are saying about a CR-1 visa and all that. But, they have already filed for a K1 visa. So they kind of have to deal with the situation they have gotten themselves in. This is about my sister-in-law. I love her to death and wish her the best, so I'm just trying to get some ideas. My wife and I had it easy. I appreciate all the insight and advice. Anything to ease her fiance's frustration.

It sounds like the OP is saying that the person traveling to work abroad is the USC, leaving the foreign fiancé/spouse alone in the US after marriage?

That is possible, although since she will need to AOS through him, there will be paperwork and documents he will be responsible for.

What is the overall plan though?  Will he be taking short trips for work, or prolonged time apart?  Because he will need to be present at her AOS interview, and living apart in separate countries could lead to a denial based upon a fraudulent marriage.

You are correct. After they marry in the US on a K1 visa, he would need to leave the US for about a year or two. I believe he would still be able to travel back and forth as needed. He is just kind of freaking out that all of this will come crashing down because of his job.

  8. My sister-in-law's finace travels around the globe for his job. If she is granted a K1 visa, comes to the US, gets married and then he leaves for France due to his job. Will she be okay submitting green card paperwork? His lawyer is saying it's not good. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation or knows someone who has. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

  9. I appreciate all the feedback. My wife didn't want to take any chances and decided on getting a visa with her US passport. We went to Detroit to get her passport the same day. People there were very friendly. The snowy weather kind of sucked but we got to visit the GM Center which was pretty cool. Now to get her on that plane so she can see her family. I hope Vietnam Customs doesn't give her any issues. 😟

  10. My wife and I are planning to fly back to Vietnam sometime after her oath ceremony on February 8th, 2019. She wants to fly first as I cannot take off as much time as her. Then I will meet her for her last 2 weeks. Our last week, we want to go to Japan and visit her sister as well. We need to get her US passport ASAP and we do not live close with a Passport Agency. So mailing the application, even if expedited, could take up to 2 weeks AND she needs a visa for Vietnam. I've seen 3rd party websites that charge twice as much for passports within a week or so, but I don't trust them. Any advice on how to get her US passport fast? Should we book the flight beforehand and attach an itinerary to show urgency? Or will there be people after the oath ceremony that process it faster?

Also too, we are booking multi-city flights for Vietnam and Japan. But we want to fly back together. Has anyone found a simpler way of doing this? Expedia has let me down over the years. Maybe it's all simple and my wife is just making things overly complicated! Haha! :)

Much people advised, submit N400 online will be completed sooner. And yes, mid-2018, there were so much who submitted their N400 online in early 2018 and their N400 got interview within 3-4 months. So, I also did the online same way. Disappointed me that, N400 shows, my complete will be 12 months.

I have a friend who also submitted her N400 online on August 2018 and also got her complete estimate of 12 months. But, she has just received the interview letter since last 2 weeks. She lives in NJ and also has the same Dallas office with AL.

I applied online September 10,2018. I got mine interview Dec 17. And I'm waiting to take oath ceremony on Feb 8. Some friends of mine applied before me are still waiting. So I guess depend on what state you live. Also my estimated time for completion was 12 months. So it's all a waiting game

What wording indicates to you that your case transferred to Lee Summit ?

As far as I know, Lee Summit is the office that mails out Green Cards.

Wife has gotten her 2 year GC and 10 year GC with sending mailing address of Lee Summit.  Nothing else happened in Lee Summit.

I don't think they do any other processing there.

    But I could be wrong.

My case,I passed n400 interview. a day later I checked status i751, it said  transfer , got a letter said transfer to Lee's summit MO. Then yesterday I got a letter said my i751 has been approved. But my case status still show " case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction" , and dhs show " case was at the local office". It is weird

Hi. I don't think they will call you for interview. I passed citizenship interview (12/17) without combo i751 interview. Then (12/18) my i751 status changed  " case transfer and new office has jurisdiction". It is weird. I don't know why

I had my interview last monday( 12/12/18),  I passed. Two hours later my online status on the USCIS website was updated to  "My oath ceremony will be scheduled" the next day on the DHS website my status changed to "we approved your application"

Finally I'm almost over in this long journey.

    Good luck to everyone.

Hi. I passed interview (12/17/18) my status on the USCIS and DHS same like you. I just wondering when will I get a letter for ceremony .

  15. I passed citizenship interview yesterday. I thought I will have combo interview for my 10 year green card and citizenship too. But the officer told me that he is just interview me for citizenship. And he told me don't worry about green card because when you have ceremony you have to give them back your green card.so I think if you guys is still waiting for 10 year gc,just go head apply for citizenship.
