Would you be going too? Or would this mean another separation? If you would be going to, how would that work with your current living situation? Is he working somewhere else right now? Are you? Sounds like a lot of fun, to live in France for 6 months.. But maybe there are other considerations...

Try organic ketchup... its a little more expensive, but its REALLY yummy... (and has no high fructose corn syrup...) And is available in the US...

We are with Esurance... rates aren't too bad for the two cars, and they are easy to deal with so far (no accidents yet so we dont know how they are on that field, but every time we make a policy change they are very nice and are available 24/7)

I dunno about anyone else - but I can't imagine why I would want to own a samurai sword. I'm not a samurai, moreover I'm not of Japanese or more specifically - of Samurai descent. Average Joe owning one seems a little crass IMO. I can't see why anyone would want one - but then again I don't collect that kind of stuff, and the BudK catalogs we get give me the impression that these things are the domain of Trailer-dwelling Southerners with prehistoric mullets.
Besides - why is everyone getting so crazed about this? The UK effectively banned guns after Dunblane, and the public carrying of knives after a headmaster was stabbed by one of his own students. Its hardly a prededent, even if it is silly.
I like how the Home Office bod says "In the wrong hands, samurai swords are dangerous weapons", In anyone's hands a samurai sword is a dangerous weapon. That's why the Samurai used them... and how they were better at killing than peasant farmers with clubs and pitchforks...Yes - its a silly law - on top of other silly laws. That said they get away with it because it affects very few people; and oddly enough the few people I came into contact with in the UK who were "knife people" and collected swords and knives etc stuff were the sort of bad tempered friday night pub-fight guys who should probably stay away from pointy objects anyway.
I would think that most who collect swords/knives do it solely for decorative purposes and arent about to go charging after ppl with them in order to do some harm. And those that would use their collection in that manner would just use something else instead.. banning the ownership of decorative samurai swords likely wont stop too many injuries/deaths. Besides most decorative swords (be they samurai or other) arent that sharp (we have a bit of a collection ourselves... and no, we dont get into fights on friday nights and we dont have mullets... )

I've been sewing for a few years... Couple of suggestions... go slow to start until you are comfortable going a bit faster.. Check out your local library to find a book on sewing (Reader's Digest has a great one) Also, practicing on scraps of fabric is a good idea until you learn to control the fabric... (thats what we did in my home ec class years ago in school) I'm sure you'll be fine! also, www.craftster.org is a great site for sewers and other crafty ppl! Good luck!

The finger in the Wendy's food was a hoax... it really wouldn't surprise me if this is too...

I got my tree for $10 off of craigslist last year... looked pretty good too! I used to want a real tree, but they do make a mess, they can be pretty expensive, and it seems silly to cut down a tree that took years to grow just for one month of Christmas time... We always had a fake one growing up.

I do! Been sewing probably about 10 years or so...
one site i'd recommend on recommendations for sewing machines is http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=9.0
I personally don't sew on leather, so I can't really recommend much. What I have heard that you need to watch out for is whether the machine is plastic geared (bad) or metal geared (good, can take a lot more stress) I myself have a Kenmore which is pretty old but was hardly used. It has enough functions to keep me happy. Just be sure not to be too blown away by extra gizmos since you probably wont use too many of them anyways... You might also want to try an actual sewing machine shop... They tend to know a lot about the machines they sell. And shop around so you can find out prices! Good luck!

Another thing to watch out for is that Paypal will ALWAYS use your name in an email (the name on file) All the phishing emails I've gotten just say "valued Paypal member" or something like that...

I cooked Turkey in beer one year... turned out pretty good... (I think it was Thanksgiving, but it would have been the Canadian thanksgiving anyways, although perhaps it was Christmas... )

ETA: our tax refund money is already earmarked for the B16A motor swap (160hp!)

They really are great cars... Where my husband and I used to work, they had a 2003 Vibe with high mileage (something like 150,000 miles or something) which still drove great, got excellent gas mileage and needed hardly any work (all it ever needed was a starter, brakes and tires) AND everyone abused the heck out of it... definitely a good choice in cars!

We used to have a cat that would knock stuff off the dresser if he thought we were sleeping too long. Worked too..

My husband just had to purchase a car and we had limited finances because he isn't working yet and has no credit history... while he was hoping to pay for the car outright, we didn't have enough money to do that. So we were able to get a small loan from a relative and found a really nice 1990 Honda Civic EX for about $7000. It is in beautiful condition, so we are both happy with it. I know that Honda Civics run forever and have great gas mileage as I have had two... one I drove for 13 yrs and my current one that I bought new in 1999 and have driven the wheels off of it. I have had one maintenance issue with it that was outside of the regular upkeep of a car.
If you are looking for dependable transportation, look for Honda or Toyota. If you are looking for something short term and cheap, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chrysler... I don't consider them dependable transportation though.
Good luck with the car shopping... but I would honestly not expect to find anything decent under $6000.
I really hope that is a typo somehow... $7000 is too much unless its been completely rebuilt....

I work in market research, and it still amazes me how nasty and rude ppl can be.. all you have to say is not interested or take me off your calling list and we wont call again... I would have hung up long before either one would have gotten to that.. ppl who get mad just work themselves up and piss themselves off more than the actual person calling... its not worth the effort. (BTW, market research doesnt sell anything, and the do not call list does not apply to market research... lots of people get confused about that)

We just bought a 91 honda civic hatchback a couple months ago for 700... it runs well, does have some rust but overall is a good car.. I would personally much rather spend money on fixing a car i like than paying hundreds of dollars a month on a car payment (not to mention insurance is way more expensive) It is possible to get a car on a small budget (our first :"second" car was only 200 and we used it for a little more than 2 years) you just have to look harder...

Reminds me of the movie Switched at Birth (was a TV movie ages ago) about 2 girls who got switched at birth (duh)... but one ended up dying from a heart problem, and eventually the one that survived ended up going to her biological parents (I think it was based on a true story) That one was pretty sad...

I drive about 40 min to work right now... we live in a very rural area, and i work in a medium city... my husband drives about 40 minutes also... But we are moving to the town where he works (which is closer to my work) pretty soon since we aren't liking how much we spend on gas and car repairs right now...

I drive (mostly) a 99 Chrysler Sebring Convertible (151,000 miles and still runs well) and he drives a 91 Honda Civic (its got a 95 civic engine in it... we intend to fix it up and do all kinds of fun stuff to it...)
