I am thinking Honda next time
Good choice. When the Mrs got here in 2004 we bought a 2004 Honda Civic Value Package. It came standard with everything you need. Crank windows, manual door locks, cheapo AM/FM single CD player, air conditioning, auto tranny, 4 doors, plenty of room. It will hit I-10 at the legal speed limit of 75 mph in west Texas easily. It will run with the big dogs. It gets 36-37 mpg highway and about 30 mpg in the city. I love it. A great value. Who needs leather seats and the high priced bells and whistles. Same great car without the high priced amenities.
One gripe was that it didn't come from the factory with cruise control, but I installed an aftermarket electronic cruise control myself and it works and looks great.
The other gripe I have is that there is no detent on the auto tranny shifter between D (normal 4 speed drive) and D3 (3 speed drive without overdrive) . You have to be careful to make sure you don't accidently shift to D3 instead of D. Most cars with auto trannys make you push a detent button to get to D3. The Civic doesn't. No big deal, but you won't get the best mileage at highway speeds in D3.
In 2004 we drove it off the lot for $14,713.44 and 2.9% interest on a 36 month loan. We just paid it off this month. I plan on keeping it 'till it dies. It will go 8-10 years and 150,000+ miles easily if it doesn't get wrecked or stolen.
I currently drive a 1991 honda civic... it has 217300 miles right now (original engine) and since we bought it in October, we've had to put about $80 worth of parts into it and that's it... it gets 33 - 35 mpg... not especially fast but it gets me where i want to go... And i only paid $900 for it... (including taxes) My husband drives a 94 civic which also gets 35 mpg... good cheap to run cars...

Honda civic... we have 2 and they are both extremely good on gas. One even has 217000 miles on the original engine... still runs well for the mileage... and they both get 33 - 35 mpg...

when our kitty was sick last year and not drinking or eating our vet suggested we give him pedialyte (the baby water) to drink since it has electrolytes added already...

I did something similar a few months back... i was shopping at the local grocery store and after I was done I put the cart away and left my purse in it... I got all the way home, unloaded the car and realized where i had left my purse! (with my Green Card in it..) I freaked out and drove back to the store hoping it would still be there.. When i got there all the carts were empty, so I went inside and asked... Thankfully some kind soul had seen it and brought it inside for safekeeping... I was sooo thankful to have it back..

girls like jewelry,, maybe a necklace is great with a card in it and a 1 piece white rosegirls like jewelry,, maybe a necklace is great with a card in it and a 1 piece white rose
hehe i mean with a card... and 1 piece of white rose
My husband (then fiance) got me a heart necklace for christmas... but when he gave it to me it was around the neck of a really cute teddy bear... I thought it was super sweet Also, if you spray a teddy with a little bit of your cologne its nice for when you are gone because the smell will remind her of you

Slightly related (maybe not)...
Anyone gotten a new phone number, and the person(s) who had it before seems to have defaulted on EVERYTHING?
My new (well three years old, but it's my newest number) # gets constant calls for two people from collection agencies...all I can do is tell them that there's no one here by that name...but still frustrating...
We've had this number for 2 1/2 years and we are still getting calls for the guy that lived here before us... Also, we had child protective services stop at our house a bunch of times in the year after we moved in... its crazy

We were watching Who Killed the Electric Car the other day and in it they showed an inventor couple who had come up with solar panel shingles. What a great idea...

I just had the extreme pleasure of driving 30 miles in this nastiness.. (had to come home from work...) There were too many times to count where i couldnt see the road at all and could barely see 3 inches in front of my windshield. I was sure I was going to end up in a ditch somewhere... I have no idea on the damage around here, but there was a pretty big tree on the road down the street from us (there was a police car sitting in front of it so no one ran into it) I'm just glad and thankful to have made it home safe. Thank you God.

Bad credit score does not always mean bad character... It can mean that someone had a hard time recently in which they were unemployed or underemployed and couldnt pay their bills. It happens to good people too. Bad credit is very easy to get, and extremely difficult (and lengthy) to repair. And often no credit is seen as the same as bad credit which isn't fair either.

Does the letter from friends have to be from a US citizen or permanent resident? For example, could I get family and friends back home in Canada to write a letter too? Does it have to be notarized?

But he cant get his SSN before taxes are due so therefore he is eligible for an ITIN... The ITIN is an IRS thing and the SSA doesnt really have anything to do with it... Call the IRS and ask... According to the SSA hi is not currently eligible for a SSN (or else they would give him one)
From the IRS website "Complete Form W-7 only if the Social Security Administration (SSA) notifies you that an SSN cannot be issued."
(Under "How do I know I need an ITIN?" at http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96287,00.html )

file married and jointly... you'll get a bigger refund.. as for the lack of SSN, you/he can file for a ITIN (individual taxpayer identification number) with the IRS (file a W-7) with your tax form...
see
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96287,00.html for more info about the ITIN...

Just because she wanted out of her marriage doesn't mean it was a sham marriage... plenty of people get married and find out it wasn't what they had in mind and then take off... happens every day...

We currently have a full bed.. usually we fit pretty well, unless one of us moves in the night... but then a poke or two and its all good again... However, if we ever get a new bed it would likely be a queen...
Rebate Checks!!!

I would think you should be able to file an amended return with your SSN, which would allow you to get the rebate... Maybe you can go to a local IRS center to file so they can see your SSN Card? If you've been here for 4 years there's no reason you shouldnt get the rebate...
