  1. Picked up my visa today and flight is booked for the 29th. Trying to pay the USCIS ELIS fee and jumping through the hoops to open an account but I am repeatedly getting the message that the password I have submitted does not meet the requirements, despite following the instructions. I've even tried different web browsers but keep running into the same problem...

I've got a feeling that whatever I'm doing wrong is really simple but I can't put my finger on it. Any pointers greatly appreciated!

  2. Dwheels and vj friends - in Vietnam, they require applicant to submit a list of relatives in the US. My wife thinks she has an uncle that lives in the US, but not sure. He fled Vietnam back in the 70s and no family member has contact info since. Should she say no relatives in US, or mention him and say no info available since no contact with family for 30 years?

    Thanks!

He could be anywhere, using a new name or even deceased - no need to bring it up unless she has already.

  3. Not sure on the requirements for HK, but I would get your vaccination records from your doctor's anyways. Have you read the vaccination requirements for the HK medical?

I'm all over the medical requirements for HK like a rash! I've had boosters for the basics, but there's the whole 'the physician will determine which vacclnations you need' deal that I'm unsure of. Added to that, I did Adjustment Of Status in the US in 2002, so I've had MMR & Varicella jabs - no records per se other than proof of having gone through the AOS hoops.

Anyhoo, I'll find out next Monday! I know of one one person in HK, a local, who needed an MMR shot and she got it when she went to collect the results of her medical, so it's no biggie if I need it.

  4. No problem-. It takes a couple days for it to show, but just watch your status on the CEAC website to go from At NVC->In Transit->Ready. Then you know the embassy has received your case.

Yes - just went to In Transit on CEAC!

My Internet-fu's not as strong as your 'un - what range of dates did you put into DHL for EXP 04 AUG 2014A?

Another Q for yourself, and Brits in general, do you need an MMR jab/booster?

  5. VISA APPROVED!!! We did it!!

My husband will be coming home with me after our anniversary/honeymoon! No more goodbyes, no more tears of sadness, no more hogging the bed!

SAYLIN, you are a rock star! Without your wiki, I know we would have been check listed! Thank you to everyone else for their support, laughs and ears for the last year, it's been quite a journey. My Oscar speech is on the September thread lol

    Yaaay - congrats!!!

  6. Have you checked to see on the ceac if it's "in transit?" Mine didn't show up until Monday morning. We still haven't found any to London yet! You use the EXP 04 AUG 2014A (example) format for the reference. Plus, you put a different range dates in. Usually take a day or two to show up in the system though.

Thanks for the DHL updates, fella - I've tried AUG 01 & 04 but I ain't gettin' nuthin'... Give us a yo if you see anything for Hong Kong!

  7. I need advice and help.

I was checking my IV package and realized that my wife's original birth certificate is laminated. I tried to take it off but it is too tight to remove without damaging the original.

Does NVC have any issues if the original is laminated. Anyone has any insight into this.

BTW: I am still waiting for IV to be invoiced. I submitted DS-261 on June 8th.

The only experience I have is that my daughter's laminated BC wasn't accepted when I went to register her for a SSN in Portland, OR. I went back with my daughter's US passport and the loon who probably hadn't taken her meds wouldn't accept it as proof of my daughter's US citizenship. I ended up being escorted from the Social Security office because Looney Tunes refused to explain to me how being a US passport holder daughter was not proof of USC...

:ot2: But the upshot of that episode was that laminated docs are not accepted as any security features cannot be closely inspected is what Social Security in Washington DC told me; makes sense that would apply to other Gov departments. Your wife getting a new copy of her BC will probably still be quicker than being dragged through a checklist because it was laminated...

  8. My wife called the NVC and actually got an operator who wasn't messing her about. Her name was Karson. She explained to her what happened, all the dates we spoke to the supervisors, what other agents said etc.. It's been 26 business days now. She got in contact with supervisor Sylvia and she said she didn't know anything about what was going on but, she was going to get in contact with the DR (document review) department to see what is bloody taking them so long. She said if we had any other questions to contact her and ask for her directly, and she would e-mail us asap when she finds out anything and gets it done. Fingers-crossed that our waiting will be done this week!!!

Hmm, my wife called on day 23 after my review docs were scanned in and was told we need to wait 6 weeks - no ifs or buts. I'm now on day 27. Is it possible to ask directly for Sylvia when calling NVC..?

    Thanks!

  9. Hello fellow July NVC filers.

My I-130 was approved last week but I can't imagine it's reached the NVC yet.

I accidentally abandoned my green card and am going through the process again. Adjusting status in the US was so much more straight forward than USCIS to NVC to Embassy.

I hope it goes smooth for everyone.

I hear you, although I voluntarily surrendered mine due to an overseas posting. I did my Adjustment Of Status in the US a year after 9/11 and it was a breeze compared to this slog! Good luck with everything
