Hey guys.

So, I need a bit of advice.

I became a US citizen last month. I qualified based on the three-year marriage rule.

I've gone through my ceremony, and have my certificate, passport book and passport card (I carry the card in my wallet, in this day and age, I'm still a little paranoid about my US citizenship being questioned).

I have accumulated A LOT of documents over the past few years, physical and digital, ranging from my student visa application, adjustment of status, removal of conditions and naturalization. Now that I'm a US citizen, I really just want to go ahead and purge a lot of these documents, as they remind me of stressful times!

Your thoughts? Should I go ahead and start shredding everything? It'd be such a cleansing exercise for me! lol

Hey guys,

So I had my Oath ceremony yesterday, and today I applied for my US passport expedited at the passport agency.

It all went ok and my passport will be ready by Friday.

But...

They took my original naturalization certificate and held on to it.

Is this normal? And if so, should I expect it back when I pick my passport up?

I think I might be over-worrying here. All these years of immigration stress, I'm so accustomed to worrying about the tiniest things!

Hey guys,

So I have my naturalization oath ceremony coming up in a few weeks. I'll apply for a US passport soon after. However, going the standard non-expedited route with my passport application has me a little worried.. I am very nervous about handing my naturalization certificate over to the USPS employee, as I fear it may get lost and never get mailed back to me.. Then there's the huge wait time and expense to get a replacement from USCIS.

Spouse and I are thinking of doing a little overseas trip to visit family soon, and we were thinking of using this opportunity to expedite my passport at the passport agency, which would help with my worries!

Am I over-worrying? And has anyone had any experiences in expediting at the agency? I'm guessing they would need to see my planned itinerary?

Oh yes, oath letter, that's what I meant, thanks for the correction.

My interview went very smoothly. My time was 8:45am. My spouse and I met my attorney in the lobby, and we were waiting in the waiting room until I was called up at about 9:15am. Note- keep a close ear out, cos some officers will call names on the loud speaker, some don't, and it can be a little hard to hear everything in the Level 8 waiting area.. very echoey and sound from TVs drowns out the room a bit. You may want to take a seat near the front.

The lady conducting my interview was very warm and friendly and put me straight at ease. My attorney also helped (I know I probably could have done my citizenship application without a lawyer, but I have absolute trust in her and it gave me piece of mind... My naturalization application is based on being married to a US citizen... being a same-sex couple, however, added another layer of concern for me, because even though you hope to be treated fairly, you never know when you might encounter homophobia).

After being sworn in, we went straight into the civics test. My questions were:

- We elect a US Senator for how many years?

- What did the Declaration of Independence do?

- What does the President's Cabinet do?

- Name one branch or part of the government

- If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

- How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

I was well-prepared for the civics test, so it was kinda disappointing that it was over so quickly... and I consider these to be really easy questions... Even though there's currently 8 justices on the Supreme Court (as Scalia's replacement is still going through senate confirmation), I answered "9", as my attorney advised me.

Then we went through reading and writing - I can't even remember what I read and wrote now, but it was very easy, English being my first language.

Then, we went over my N-400. I had a new job and a recent international trip to add. She asked about a day trip I took to Mexico a few years back that was not on the N-400 (though it's not required to be included)... She had a printout from CBP showing all my past entry dates, which I thought was interesting. Then we went through all those personal questions - prostitution, illegal gambling, etc. - then the questions about being willing to defend the US.

She then printed out a form N-652 showing that I passed all tests and was recommended for approval.

The whole interview took around 20 minutes. By the time we were in the parking lot across the road, I'd received text message updates advising oath ceremony had been scheduled.

I had my citizenship interview this morning. All went well and was approved. When I checked online through My Account after my interview, it says "We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number IOE**********. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us."

Does anyone know when, approximately, I should expect to see the PDF of the interview notice online?

Hey guys, today I was able to view the PDF of my interview notice. My interview appointment is on 03/31/17. Could someone be kind enough to add this info to our tracker?

Just adding my IOE information. The wait for IOE applicants is becoming so depressing... Meanwhile, folks who have filed later than us speed ahead with a NBC number. I wonder how long it'll take for me. Very depressed and angry that we seem to be stuck.

Have a read of this, it seems that no one with the new IOE numbers have moved beyond biometrics http://mail.trackitt.com/usa-discussion-forums/n400/1655760285/reciept-number-starting-with-ioe/page/5

There are also apps you can get on your phone that let you search case numbers, and it pretty much shows that no-one with a new IOE case number has been scheduled for an interview yet, nor are they "in line for interview", with the exception of a single applicant, who was likely a military-type expedite.

Has anyone else heard of the big wait times / cases being stuck with these new IOE case numbers?

Apparently, N-400 applicants who used the new form (posted online in April, I believe) are given an IOE case number instead of an NBC number. N-400 applicants who submit the old form get a NBC case number.

It seems that although the form has been used by applicants since April, no-one has received an interview date yet or have their case status "in line for interviewing". Meanwhile, NBC numbers (ie the applicants who submitted the old form) seem to be processed very fast.

It seems that IOE folks' cases aren't moving past biometrics while NBC folks' cases speed ahead!

USCIS web site says that from 10/1, the old forms will not be accepted. Hopefully they stick to this deadline (they've already extended it once before).

This makes me so depressed, like there's going to be a very, very long wait! If I'd known, I would've used the old form... But how was I to know!

My apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere, or if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I am applying for naturalization based on being a permanent resident and spouse of a US citizen for the past three years.

I remember when we removed conditions, it was the number on the biometrics appointment letter that we entered online to track our case.

Is this the same for naturalization? Or do we instead enter the number from the I-797 NOA receipt notice?

I've seen so many threads with Los Angeles couples stressing about the long wait for their certified copy of their marriage certificate. I went through AOS back in 2013 and sent USCIS the souvenir/non-certified marriage certificate that you get at your wedding. They accepted it. No RFEs, no problems, no need to wait for the certified copy.

Next month, I'll be eligible to file my N-400 based on the three-year rule (marriage to a US citizen spouse).

In the M-477 Document Checklist, it states:

4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:

a. Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; or

b. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; or

c. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.

I have our tax transcripts ready to send. Is this enough? Or do I need to send them a big pile of marriage evidence again? My understanding of the above is that the transcripts alone are fine (as it lists a. OR b. OR c.).

So my green card was mailed out on 12/28 and I still haven't received!! I hate USPS... 2-day priority? More like 2-week priority!

I pray that it actually gets here, cos looking into it, if it's lost and not returned to USCIS as undeliverable, I have to cough up $450, do biometrics again, and wait another 6 months!

So annoyed!

Hey guys... Looks like I was approved today... Got the following notification when I logged into My USCIS:

"On December 22, 2015, we ordered your new card"

Would someone be kind enough to update the list for me?
