  1. I have two questions about proving a bonafide relationship.

The first is: how do I send copies of emails and chats? Just copy and paste them into word and print them out or print screen them? That seems so non-official and easy to fake. I have hundreds of emails and chats with my spouse from over 7 years of relationship, so that part is easy for me, I just don`t know how to prove the legitimacy of those conversations?

Second: does this seem like a reasonable amount of evidence? Only my spouse's name is on our house deed, but I have bills with the same address in my name, would that be enough for proof of residency?:

Proof of residency with supporting bills showing shared domicile with relevant translations

Proof of Health Insurance through Beneficiary's company

Proof of co-mingled finances and general support through document "Escritura de convivencia homoafetiva" (Contract of affectionate homosexual cohabitation)with relevant translations

Copies of petitioner's Brazilian documents (CPF and RNE), used in order to stay together with beneficiary

Photographs demonstrating familial ties between beneficiary and petitioner,

    Emails throughout the relationship

Copy of check from a previous joint bank account

Beneficiary's Brazilian affadavit of support for petitioner to remain in Brazil, from 2006

Certified copy of a 2006 affidavit swearing knowledge of bonafide marriage (used for petitioner's immigration into Brazil)

By the way, most of my documents are from around 2006, when I did my immigration into Brazil. Will that be a positive point in my favor showing length of relationship?

  2. Yeah, you guys are completely right. I just found the issuing body that I need through my birth state. Luckily I'll have plenty of time to get that going between the USCIS and NVC stages (I'm assuming I'll have a little bit of a breather between sending things of to the USCIS and needing to prepare the packages for the NVC, at least three months or so).

    Thanks again!

  3. Hello guys,

I'm working on my initial i-130 package and starting to gather all the relevant documents.

I see that I need a certified copy of my birth certificate; I'm currently living in Brazil with my spouse, and I have my original birth certificate here with me. Will the USCIS accept a copy which is certified from another country, or does it need to be certified by a US public notary? What exactly does certified mean in this case?

    Thanks.

  4. When filing my initial documents for the USCIS, does it make a difference if I type them or write them? According to the official instructions for the I-130, both are acceptable, but are there any caveats to that?

Does the same hold true for documents submitted later on to the NVC? I saw someone mention to use a blue pen, so they know it is an original copy. I'm still pretty new to all this, but I think I'm getting most of the basics down. I like to have as much information as possible before even starting the process.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Ah, nice. I thought the supporting documents had to be tax returns of some sort. Thank you very much.

I'm looking into IRS Form 4506T, which provides you with verification of non-filing. Do you (or anyone else) know or have suggestions on whether that is necessary, or does a simple letter explaining my non-employment and lack of income suffice?

  6. I have been living abroad for about 5 years, with no income because I've been basically a stay-at-home husband. Because of that, I haven't been filing any tax returns. My mother is going to sponser my spouse, but I noticed that both she and I will need to submit our tax returns. If I petition the IRS for documents stating my non-filing status, but my mother has sufficient income to cover my spouse, will I run into any problems?

I'm not worried about things from the IRS side, everything is on the up and up, I just had zero income.
