  1. Hello all,

Yes it seems as though the embassy in kuwait is taking very long. It has been almost 13 months since my husband's visa case has been in AP. We submitted the passport in July and have not received any reply to our emails since then. the only update we got was a change of date on the CEAC website. AP 23, Aug. 2013... we r still waiting. Hopefully the embassy gets to work and completes our cases!

May I know your husband's nationality?

  2. I know that in Iraq it does take longer for us embassy to approve everything due to all the issues that are going on, is what I was told. I have been waiting for my fiancé for about a year now.I'm sure it's probably same for Kuwait as every Mid East country, which I think is wrong that everyone is penalized in some way for things our loved ones aren't even associated with. Normal AP is usually 60 days, but often times is longer. I would give them a call if it's been over 3 months.

thats true, I know Mid East countries problems but it seems that even in kuwait its taking longer time than other ME contries.

  3. In Kiev embassy Ukraine. My fiance said her visa was denied because I was ugly and she was too pretty to love me. This is quoted by an American officer - Is this not sexual harassment? Also, isn't there a law that requires a valid reason? I lived with my fiance overseas and we have been engaged for over a year. I currently am in America proving I can support her. Apparently, none of the documents mattered. I have plenty of evidence for a bona fide relationship as I was overseas working and that is how I met her. I lived with her for 3.5 months. Plenty of photos, etc. She said people outside of the embassy said she could interview again in 14 days. Has anyone ever heard of this? It looks like I will travel back to the Ukraine very soon. Any help here is appreciated.

NOWAY that any CO would say this.

1- I suggest you post your fiance picture her then we can judge if the CO can say what you have mentioned or not.

2- After translating the Russian letter, she said she was in the bar so maybe she was drunk while she was sending you.

3- You wrote this story only for fun, yes you made it, we all had fun.

  4. Hello All

I have been a silent reader for several months and have now decided to join VJ. Hopefully, I can get some helpful input from this community. Does anybody know How Long Will It Take To Issue The Visa After The Embassy Has My Passport?

    Here is our story:

My wife is a US born citizen. I am a Pakistani, but residing/working in Kuwait for the past 6 years. We are family friends and met in Kuwait, December 2008 and fell in love at first sight =) ... We got engaged February 2011 and got married in Pakistan on January 1, 2012! As soon as my wife returned to USA she applied the IR 1 visa in California. I had my interview here in Kuwait in September 2012 and unfortunately was placed into Administrative Processing. Our documents/medical was complete and at my interview the consular officer stated they needed to do Background/Name checking. My wife and I could not tolerate living separate, so she joined me in Kuwait. She only has a temporary Kuwait visit visa because we hope that one day we both can start our new lives in USA. Recently, the embassy requested an updated police certificate/medical/passport. On July 16, 2013, we submitted the updated documents along with my passport and received a reply/email from the embassy that our visa case is documentarily complete; however requires additional administrative processing. Now, we are still in administrative processing...

This has been a tough struggle, but my wife and I are with each other so we are happy. Hopefully one day the sun will rise with good news for us and all of those in this difficult situation! Good luck & Best Wishes smile.png

    HI,r u still in AP??

  5. My husband had his interview on May 29, 2012, he was told everything looked good but to come back to the consulate the next day with a photocopy of my father's passport (yes, my father) and no explanation was given. So he did return the following day with the requested photocopy and he was told to wait a few minutes for his passport to be stamped. After 2 hours he was told he would be contacted in a few weeks because a few extra checks needed to be done but everything was fine. and they sent him home, with his passport (no visa) and his returned birth certificate and his medical packet.

I received 2 or 3 emails from the consulate in the immediate month after the interview but then nothing. We were continuously told we will be contacted when AP is finished. I am working with 2 congressman's office simultaneously and nothing is done.

We have been in AP for 15 months now.

You received 2 or 3 emails for what??

  6. Have you contacted anyone about it?

    Update...

I contacted a U.S. Senator in Texas and he has contacted DOS. The "Last update" date has changed so at least someone has looked at it since he contacted them. He is supposed to contact me and let me know what they told him.

    I will let you know...

No i didn't contact anyone, I think they can’t help in this situation; at least i will take your case as a test, so please let me know if you have any new update. By the way I heard that the US embassy in Kuwait has stopped the immigration services from 4th August till 12th Sept.

  7. Hello All VJers.

    I need some advice.

I am in Kuwait with my wife. I petitioned for here visa around this time last year. Everything moved along very smoothly, slow, but still smooth. We made a mistake or two along the way but all is well.

We interviewed on 10 July 2013 and were really taken aback that we wer put into AP.

It is now 16 August and still waiting. I check on the state department website periodically and for a few days after the interview there was acctivity on it, then nothing. The last update has not moved since 18 July.

She is Indian, but born in Kuwait and we think that may have something to do with why we were put into AP for background checks, etc.

My question is, should I get my senator involved? or call the embassy and bug them? I mean come on they have had pleanty of time!!!

I am so angry about this whole process I just want to scream at them... It is so unfair for people doing things the right way have to go through all this BS and yet the "leaders" of our country want everyone who did it the wrong way to be granted citizenship. ABSOLUTE BS!!

    ...End of rant...

Please let me know if you think the above would help at all..

    -Nathan

More than 90 days and still in AP

  9. ok. I will keep you updated, while you don't need it, there is one remaining week ahead of you, and more ahead of my sister.

and yes. you have to send an email to them.

don't expect them to call you and say, hey congrats, your AP is over...

prepare an email, full of your case´s details, and send them once a week, and make it on Sunday (I hope you will not need it, but just in case).

just make sure you leave a clear contact number, a mobile or 2, and put the case number in the subject line...

dont forget to wait a bit more than 60 days to do this.... this is very crucial...

best of luck with my compliments...

Hi Rami, hope u r fine and enjoying your time.

As per your advice about the inquiry email after 60 days; yesterday I have sent an email to the embassy and I was surprised to receive the response on the same day. This is what was received "There are no new updates on status of your case, as soon as we are able to move forward with your case we will contact you immediately." crying.gif

It seems that will take longer time than expected.

  10. hi.

I am fine, how r u? ramadan karim

nothing about my sister's, more than one month is ahead of her, just for inquiring...

and u? 4 weeks only? u have to wait not less than 8 weeks....

    Hi Rami, Ramadan Kareem.

4 weeks passed since you told me that there is only one week ahead for her. any way today I have completed the 8 weeks , enshallah next sunday (as per your advice) will send the email :)

  11. ok. I will keep you updated, while you don't need it, there is one remaining week ahead of you, and more ahead of my sister.

Hi Rami, how r u? hope things r fine with u.

Any update for your sister's case? now almost 4 weeks passed and nothing happened.

  12. Hi, Thank you for the comment. Indeed it is a very long story. My apologies for that, It was supposedly a step-by-step review of the USEM K1 Interview, but I decided on letting everyone know about the full story on what happened as well as updates.

The main thing about it is:

    1) I felt as if my side of the story didn't matter. To add to that, I was 'devalued' by saying my education/skills/employment didn't matter and I was highly offended. And like I said, I know that he's supposed to look at just the petitioner's income, it doesn't give him the right to belittle me. Marraige is about working together and raising a family. The fact that I stood up and spoke my mind was probably the thing he didn't like.

2.) The CO instructed us clearly what to submit which we asked repeatedly, 100% he said. Employment letter with all the info needed to compute his earnings. That's it.

3.) We complied but yet, when I called yesterday, the IVUnit Person that I spoke to said the CO still said his earnings aren't enough. When it clearly surpassed 100%. The IVUnit Person said so herself, he made more than $15,510. A couple of thousand dollars above $15,510, yet it was marked as 'not enough'. Only a couple of dollars short of the 125% mark, but we have savings and assets!

It is just very disheartening at this point. We were part of the July-October 2012 CSC Blackhole. Then our case was sent to NRC not NVC, just a good thing that we caught it just in time. And now, this.

Don’t worry and just make it step by step, call them on Wednesday and listen to them then you can decide what to do, there is always a solution for everything J everyone here knows that he has to fight till the end (or maybe willing to die for it) .

my thoughts for you: don’t try to contact the embassy many times, because they might feel annoyed.

**If a case is in "Administrative Processing" phase, it is very difficult to get any response or to make it move faster. The best thing to do is to try to contact them once in a month (Not more, because they might feel annoyed!!!). (This is as received from my lawyer)

  13. It is really a very long story :) but hopefully you will get an answer on Wednesday, the embassy will not guarantee the response time but they usually give you the right timing. for the AP no one can know the duration for this process but you have only to wait and pray, don’t read many stories about the AP because you will only hear about the people waited for months and years , I personally know cases that the AP took only 2 weeks.

  14. janelle2002..thanks for posting but no one is listening.at the end of interview CO tells that you can get your visa in 3 to 6 months but its just way to say leave the embassy now.i have completed my 10 months in AP,contacted senetor, congressman, embassy and even white house.but they all have standard answer that your case is AP wait for its completion and there is no time frame for that starts from week and goes on to 5 to 10 years.i agree with you the real ones are suffering and the doggy ones are getting there visas.they are just doing it purposely.if everything is ok than why you are not issuing the visas?i dont know where to go for help,as from there side no one is helping..

    I suggest to contact DOS:

DOS information: DOS can be contacted Monday through Friday during business hours. You must have all information concerning your case with you so that they can assist you.

Department of State’s visa Information phone number: 202-663-1225

  15. haboosh...atleast middle east countries are better than pakistan, they have time frame but here there is no time frame just wait even upto 4 years and even result you never know after waiting will be positive or negative....so usa is punishing the pakistani immigrants with the deep heart..that is the real story.

No one can give you the exact time frame, it's all about your record and also your luck, even here you can wait for longer time it depends.
