  1. After YEARS of waiting for approval (2 yrs) we finally got notice through the USCIS check my status that our i485 has been approved. NOW, we just wait for the letter and card. It has been a long and stressful journey for us. we learned in the end that it was our local USCIS office personal that was not doing their job properly and therefore we had to wait. Nonetheless, FINALLY we dont have that stress and worry as to why our case was not moving. We got several compliments on how our file looked (very WELL organized) from the adjudicators and after speaking with a friend of the family who happens to be an immigration lawyer, stated that our files were "TO NEAT" and "planned out" which caused suspicion. LIKE SERIOUSLY?!! But he also did some digging and found that our local office was not very efficient in many ways.

Im just glad that we can now move forward. (finally take a REAL honeymoon overseas and visit family back in Egypt)

A word of advice to anyone experiencing a long processing time, STAY on them. Call USCIS office and document EVERYTHING!! Make sure when you speak to a rep that you write down their names and their agent # no matter what you are inquiring about.

I even included that information in my file and used it as evidence for our case. It was ridiculous that it took so long for us to get approved, but like our last interview, the agent noticed it and said that with all that information things should have moved sooner. So i guess that helped her move it even more because we had proof we were inquiring about it.

    Good LUCK to everyone!

  2. No I dont think i am confused on what AP is used for. what i am saying is that when we applied for AOS, we just filled out the i 131 form but not the portion where it states Advance parole. We were under the impression that we could not use that therefore did not fill that part out. all we did was just apply for travel in general.

by the way, i appreciate the feedback and direction. thank you

  3. yes we had our interview. we did get the travel authorization but people mentioned that with a regular 131 travel authorization it would not be ok to travel and come back in due to the AOS still pending.

We had aweful and unprofessional judicators. We have been contacting USCIS and gone to our local office. They say our case is still open and pending and that there is nothing they can do but wait. My husbands work authorization will expire in August so we will apply for that soon and submit for travel again. But i wanted to know what the difference was as far as Advance parole.

I worked for PAE doing biometrics at our local office and knew a lot of the staff for USCIS. I got the job after my husband was here in the states and we were married. Everyone seemed surprised that we are still waiting on our case I have hired a lawyer but i think that is just a waste of money. I am doing that just for my husbands piece of mind. He feels that with a lawyer things will speed up.

I know every case is different. but i think this is crazy that we have been waiting this long. Even the officer that came for the home visit was in shock and questioned why he was even called to do the visit if he saw NOTHING that would suspect wrong doing.

  4. *please place in appropriate thread if this is not the correct one*

My husband and I have been married for a little over 2 years. We filed for AOS 2yrs ago and have not heard anything yet. It is getting really difficult for my husband since the process is lengthy. He has missed several important events back home like his sisters getting married, family emergencies and such.

Has anyone traveled back home while still pending AOS? Is it possible to travel and still be let back in the country with no problems? Does anyone know how Advance Parole works?

My brother-in-law is really sick, and my husband and i would like to travel to see him however we are scared they will give us a huge hassle at the port of entry once we are back in the states even if we do get permission to leave. We had the worst experience when he first came under the K1 visa and really do not want to go through that again.

    can anyone suggest anything?

is anyone else in the same boat where they are still waiting for AOS after 2 years?

  5. hi guys.. so it has been 12 months since i have reported on here .... it is with GREAT SADNESS that i report... we are still in limbo.

my husband has been here for 2 years and a few months... and has YET to receive a green card. I am not even sure what kind of status he is here under.....

as a recap- we filed for a k-1 visa. he came over and we married within the 90 days. we sent all paper work in for the adjustment of status and all that good stuff. we had our interview in Sept (2yrs ago). the judicators were snobs. they were typing things that were not even said. I was so glad i actually READ the information before signing.

anyways, he had received his work authorization. after several months passed we both filed to meet with someone in regards to our case (must have been around feb.march of last year). they sent out an investigator and he mentioned there was no doubt in his mind that this was not a legit marriage. he thought it was a waste of time for him to come and review our case. He said that he was very proud of my husband and i for working and going to school. Not that many people that he has investigated, did they have what we had. That we were living very well off considering our circumstances. Overall he had nothing but good things to say. he even told me that my husband and i should expect some good news very soon.

well, that never happened. my husband had to reapply for work authorization since it was only valid for 1yr. he sent the info and got it but NOW it will expire again in August.

WE have not heard any other info regarding his status. He will be re-applying for the work authorization since it expires in August...and we need to get the biometrics done in a timely manner.

It has been very frustrating throughout the whole process. but my question is... Is anyone still in the same situation as my husband and I? we do have an appointment set up for the 26th at our local office to see what they can tell us.

  6. Finally got my welcome letter and permanent resident card together in the mail today!

I got the shock of my life, because all this time my status online didn't change.

I didn't get interview waiver, and no interview schedule either all this time.

Online status was "Fingerprint fee received" for this whole year.

So, I sent renewal application for EAD so I don't lose my job.

Then I called USCIS over a month ago, Tier 2 officer said he put in a request for me as my case is pending beyond processing times.

After no updates still, I wrote to NY congresswoman.

Then I called USCIS again this past Wednesday, another Tier 2 officer said, "Your welcome letter was sent 3 days ago." My reaction was, "What? Can you say that again please? I've been checking website yesterday and my status online still says Fingerprint fee received." He said, "So sorry, that website is not always updated."

Then just a few minutes ago I get a text from USCIS that my case status has been updated. LOL... I can laugh now, that I am not worrying to death.

Hubby and I are so happy and relieved to have this part of the journey done with.

This is an awesome first wedding anniversary present!

Finally we can make good travel plans and do some overdue trips

Thanks to VisaJourney for all the filing information, I was able to file by myself without needing a lawyer

Sending Thank You to congresswoman in case they were the cause for my approval.

And then, ROC in 2 years!

Good luck to any other June 2014 filer who is waiting, your GC is coming soon!

Hi. Congrats on your approval! i have a question... when you contact your congresswoman what did you write? I am thinking i might need to contact my congressman and see if i can get any results. I would greatly appreciate any feedback!

    Again Congrats!

  7. Is your husband good looking like jailbait? I know I was and since I looked a certain way, I was interviewed for green card in 1997 but my file was placed in a "security check" but I didn't know that till they called me for a 2nd interview in 2007 and I didn't get my green card till almost 10 years after the first interview.

Just be patient.. I know it was very hard for me but this is all true.

im not just saying this because he is my husband, but he is very good looking. He is constantly told he has gorgeous eyes. LOL but yes it is extremely long wait. i just dont want him to be with out work until he receives his green card. It took a while for him to actually get a decent job and he has slowly moved his way up the ranks to be where he is at now. Im PRAYING he gets his work authorization renewal SOON!!

    thanks for the response.

  8. OK so im in need of some help. :crying:

My husband and i filled for his AOS back in June. (i noticed that many of you all on this thread had interview waivers) We were not as fortunate :) anyhow, we had our interview in Sept. of 2014. We contacted USCIS in regards to the case to check status back in march. We even went to the local office and they told us to resubmit our info of RFE from the interview since it was not received!! We had tracking and all for the info to be sent yet they say they never got it. soooo, we hand delivered the info. a few days later we had an immigration officer come by and do a quick check here at home.

Husband was working. The officer told me flat out that he felt it was crazy for them to have sent him out if he sees there is NOTHING wrong with our case. He told me that he would go back to the office and type up his report and give to the last person that touched our case. He told me that we should be hearing something really soon and not to worry! This was since April.

In the meantime, my husband i and submitted for his renewal of employment authorization. He had biometrics done in mid May.

the problem i am facing now is that his old employment authorization/ SS/ and DL expire the same date (August).

How can he obtain a new SS? How can we justify his legal status here since his AOS is still pending. He can not get a DL if he does not have his SS. And he can not get his SS if he doesnt have proper legal status info.

He is currently working at the local hospital.

Does anyone know what to do or experienced the same thing???

  9. Hi everyone! So my husband and i started our journey with a k1 visa. He has been in the US for 1yr 4months. We had our interview back in sept 2014 yet were asked to submit more info. We did but somehow was lost so we resubmitted everything again just yesterday. Is anyone still waiting on green card after their interview from sept?

Its very important to be on top of ur case!!! We would call the national service center and they would tell us we had to wait 30 days then 90 days to get info. We made an infopass for our local uscis and spoke to an officer about our case. Thats how we were notified to resubmit the paper work.

We have now just reapplied for his EAD. Right now everything is backed up. You must renew at least 90 days prior to expiring. For ANY thing with immigration.

  10. ok so here is an update on my husband and I......

we got married MARCH 20, 2014.

we had our interview Sept. 4, 2014

we have YET to have any information regarding approval.

While we had our interview, the officers asked us to submit more info. We did! got it certified mail however there is no records by the USPS that the info was received.

I have called regarding my case to see if they can tell me if they even received the paper work and yet no1 can tell me.

SO... that means my husband and I are still waiting for approval.

I work at an ASC and even I can't get info! after speaking with an officer that works in my Dept. he said the best thing I could do was schedule an INFO PASS and request an APPT. to see whats going on.

Also, since my husbands work authorization expires in AUG of 2015 I was told that he would have to renew it in JUNE to be in the safe side if we still had not heard anything of his case.

is anyone else going through the same thing?

ugh I hate this waiting.. but it sure is better waiting together rather than us being apart in 2 different countries :(

  11. Did anyone have problems at the interview? These ladies were very unprofessional where we went. They were commenting and touching the computer screen as if there was something going on. We were interviewed together then interviewed separately. They told us they wanted more proof of the relationship and wanted emails and chat logs from when we first started tAlking. :/. We have that info but really ??? All that proof we have them and still want more.

  12. Ok so my husband received an email on June 10th that his AOS packet was received and accepted. About two weeks later he got a letter for biometrics which he went on June 27th. By chance on August 1st he checked the uscis website and he noticed a change to his AOS. It had interview! We got the paper notification on Monday August 4th that he will have an interview on September 4th! He never got a txt or email saying this so we were shocked when by chance he just checked his status. His EAD not his travel documentation have yet to be updated :/ Should we be worried???!
