I think you will need to find out the "legal" definition of "detained".    If you were NOT allowed to leave the secondary questioning,  then were you not "detained"?  Even for a few minutes?    It is like the word "arrest",  if you are not free to leave the custody of the police, then you are under "arrest" even if they say, "no, we just want to detain you for questioning".  The legal definition is the key.    I personally, (given the fact that you were turned around and banned from the US for 3 years, ) would put it in, (with an explanation in the blank spaces) and let them decide if it was needed or not.  If it IS and you don't mention it, would it cause another problem?  Maybe let them decide if it was trivial or not.

    thank you

Don't ovethink this. Enter the date of the incident in the form,  write a brief, one paragraph letter of explanation on a separate sheet of paper and attach any supporting documentation you might have. Let the IO determine whether you were detained or not. At the interview the IO would make the proper corrections on your n400 form if necessary.

    THANKS!!!

  3. I see this is a popular question!

    Ok.  I'm stuck on question

    23. Have you EVER been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including any immigration official or any official of the U.S. armed forcr any reason?

I was crossing the border from canada to the US and brought into secondary questioning.  I was found inadmissible because I had overstayed my visa on my prior visit.  I was given a 3 yr ban from the US.   I know they have documentation of this because I had to apply for a waiver before doing my K2 Visa.  My question is secondary questioning considered detainment??  Do I answer yes to this?

  4. hey there,

I was denied entry at the border for unlawful presence in the United States (overstayed my visa). I applied for a waiver before entering again and applying for my fiancé visa.

Do I answer yes or no for Question 20 on the i-751 form.

Have you ever been arrested, detained, charged, indicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking or violating any law or ordinance (excluding traffic regulations), or committed any crime which you were not arrested in the United States or abroad?

    Thanks for your help.

  5. OP, assuming you are residence is in WA State I suggest looking at the following site:

    http://www.hca.wa.gov/medicaid/firststeps/Pages/index.aspx

I found it quite interesting the 40% of US birth is financed by Medicaid.

    http://www.medicaid.gov/Medicaid-CHIP-Program-Information/By-Population/Pregnant-Women/Pregnant-Women.html

I'm still shocked that you have to pay for birth in this country!!! It should be covered 100%.

  6. Hi,

A green card holder is eligible for Medicaid prenatal care. It is not a means tested benefit subject to the I-864.

Leave your opinions out of this. There is a baby involved. A US citizen baby when born. The law allows her to receive Medicaid prenatal care without risk to her immigration status.

aaron2020 Thank you! There are so many negative opinions and judgements on here sometimes, so it is nice to read your helpful positive comments.

I called an immigration office and they also said that I am able to get prenatal care through medicaid, because it is for the baby not me.

Also, thank you for the links.

  7. I know the answer is here somewhere...but I can't find it.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I'm wondering if I can apply for Medicaid for prenatal visits. I'm a conditional LPR and I live in hawaii. Right now, my husband and I are on the low income level. I know I can get emergency medicaid for the delivery.

This is the website that tells me that I can get Medicaid for prenatal care.

    Is this correct?

  8. I'm a K-1 visa holder apply from AOS.

I'm wondering if I should apply for AP since I've previously had a 3-year bar from the USA for a 180 day overstay. I got a waiver for my overstay (which is now expired). Just wondering if it is wise or safe for me to leave the the country with a AP or if I can even apply for AP?

    Thanks for your help.

  9. I'm in the states on a K1 visa and filling out my AOS forms. Having conflicting thoughts about this question.

"Have you received public assistance in the United States from any source, including the U.S. Government or and State, county, city, or municipality (other than emergancy medical treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?"

    here is my story:

I was volunteering on a farm in California in different years starting 2007 - 2010. During that time I went to the dentist. They said because i was not making an income that I qualified for 'medical'. I probably went to the dentist 3-4 and to the doctor for once for a pap test.

How do I answer this question? I am not likely to receive public assistant in the future.

    anything advice will help. Thanks
