Ankara has recently updated the instructions because when I checked today the only form we need is the DS-160.
I'm at the same stage as you. I just filled out the DS-160 today and my fiance is going to get his Police Certificate and Birth Certificate next week. Did you already mail in all of your documents?
Can we schedule an interview appointment before we send the documents?? Do you know how long it takes to get an interview date? Like if we start now, do you think we can get a December interview date?
-
I just filled it out today and be prepared because it will take well over an hour to complete the whole thing. But at least it's a lot less paperwork!
I noticed some of the Embassies were a little slow to get the new Instructions out, but for Turkey, the only form is now this one. I like the streamlined process!

You can apply while you are outside of the US. Do you have a permanent address in the US? I was living in Asia when I applied so I used my parents address as my address. However, one thing to think about is how you will fill out I-134. If you aren't working in the US, then you will need a cosponsor (as far as I know).

I called NVC two weeks after getting my NOA2 and I got my case number and a couple days later I got a letter from the Embassy that they had received our case. I'm in the process of gathering all of our forms and documents and then I guess after that we can schedule our interview and medical. Unfortunately for us, it's taking a little longer because my fiance is working in another country (not his native country) so I have to wait for him to get back so he can get his birth certificate and police certificate.
I would order your police certificate from the UK now. I'm not sure how long it takes to get it, but you can start getting all of the documents that you will need together and then once you have everything then you can schedule your interview. (At least that's the way I think it goes!)

Hi everyone!
My mom is helping me and serving as my cosponsor for I-134. In the instructions from the Turkish Consulate is that the cosponsor also has to include a copy of their passport. My mom doesn't have her passport! Is a birth certificate sufficient??

I think the Embassies haven't had a chance to change their instructions yet. I emailed the Turkish Consulate and they sent me the supposedly new instructions, but it still says you have to fill out DS-230, I56, 156K and 157. But from the New Notice it makes it seem like we only have to do the DS-160 now and that "it replaces" the other forms. I'm confused on if I still need to fill out the old forms PLUS DS-160 now. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm a June filer who was transferred to Texas August 9th and I just got my approval yesterday!! Hope everyone else gets their approval soon too!!! It was exactly 3 months from NOA 1 to NOA 2 approval for us.

I got my NOA 1 on June 11th and got transferred to TSC on August 8th. I'm so anxious! I hope we all have good news soon. Keep us posted!

Hi June Filers! I know it might be a little early, but has anyone had any good news (or any news, for that matter)?? I'm so eager! I got a notice at the beginning of August that our case was transferred to the Texas Service Center, but nothing since then.

Yep, I just got notice that our case was transferred. I wonder how this will affect approval times. I feel like I've seen a lot of other people on here who got approved really quickly after being transferred to TSC. Fingers crossed!!!

I checked on the US Consulate website and it looks like Turkey and the US do allow dual citizenship for Turkish citizens. Is this correct? Has anyone else (Turkish citizens) opted for dual citizenship? Just wondering how it works and pros/cons of doing so? Thanks for any info!

I also filed while living in abroad in Korea but I put my parents address as my permanent address in America. I spoke with an attorney and she told me to make my situation very clear, so in my cover letter I explained that we are both currently living abroad but that I am returning to my permanent address in America at the end of my contract in August. I was also told by the attorney that I can include my pay stubs from my work abroad and I still filed taxes for all of the years I lived abroad, so hopefully it will be fine when we have to file the Affidavit of Support.
One other thing, as others have mentioned, if you are at a point in your relationship where you feel ready to get married now, I would definitely go the DCF route. When I originally started doing research, I didn't want to go through with it because I wanted my fiance to meet my family and friends before getting married. But now after knowing what a process the K-1 and then Adjustment of Status is, all of the costs involved, the time waiting, etc., I really wish I would have gone the DCF route. It's just something to think about. Good luck!

My fiance is from Turkey but we both live in South Korea for work. I am leaving at the end of the summer to move back to America to my permanent home and he's coming with me (once he gets his visa).
I maybe could still go the DCF route and cancel the I-129F and get married like TOMORROW, but I have already bought my plane ticket home for September 10th and I'm not sure we could get everything done by then.
I'm just kicking myself for not doing better research in the beginning. I guess I didn't realize that the Adjustment of Status would be another $1k and how short of processing time the DCF route could have been. I have seen other people ask similar questions regarding the K1 and DCF routes, and now I know how I would respond. Thanks for the support! This forum is really great for people who are going thru or have already been through the Immigration hassle.

I guess I just need a place to vent, but I am really kicking myself in the butt right now.
I have recently filed the I-129F for fiance visa, but now I'm realizing that I should have gone a different route, filing the DCF I-130. My fiance and I both live overseas at the moment and I just realized how much time, headache and money I could have saved by filing through the consulate in Korea. When I first started researching all of this stuff, it seemed like the fiance visa had pretty quick turnaround times and I had read plenty of reviews that it was the easier way to go. Plus, I guess I'm kind of old fashioned in that I wanted my fiance to meet my parents and actually visit America before getting married. But now, after realizing how fast and cheap (only $430 compared to what will end up costing over $2k) the Direct Consular Filing is over the K-1 Fiance Visa, I just want to cry. He's not so upset, because he's looking forward to a couple of months out of work while we wait for the Employment Authorization/Green Card to go through...But I just want to get our life started together in our new home.
Why does immigration have to make everything such an expensive, stress-inducing headache?!
-
When you file the I-129F you will have to include payment of $340. That is the initial processing fee. When your fiance (the foreign beneficiary) goes to her interview later on down the road, she will have to pay another fee at the interview of $240.
As for the other questions, I don't know how to answer. Good luck!

Hi,
I just filed our I-129F application and am just beginning the long wait...I am a little new to this forum so can you please tell me why the Consulate would have further Administrative Processing? Is there any way to avoid this from happening? I don't want AP!

How frustrating! Do they have to make each step of the process be so difficult?! I just tried online to schedule the appointment and I got the same message as you, that there are no appointments available at this time. But it offers no help or suggestions as to what to do next! I will keep trying and keep you posted. Good luck to you!!
