  1. My husband's visa should arrive in the mail any day now so I've been looking at flights so that we can purchase when it comes. He's in England, and I'm in Las Vegas, so a one-way ticket is around $1,800 this time of the year. I go back to work in two weeks, so I'd really like him to come pretty soon so I have some time with him before I am back at work full time.

I did find an airline that has direct flights to Los Angeles (unfortunately not Las Vegas) for around $1,200 which is about a 4 hour drive and a little more than half a tank of gas from me. A lot of my family is in Los Angeles and they are asking us to visit before I go back to work, so this way, we could kill two birds with one stone and stay for a few days before returning to Las Vegas.

I am wondering if it is okay to book a flight where my husband's POE would be in Los Angeles and not Las Vegas, where we will live? Any other flight I book will have a different POE than Las Vegas, but they would see he has another flight to catch.

Thank you for reading this and/or replying.

    :)

  2. I've been confused on what packet 3 is. I know that packet 4 is the interview letter, I got that in my email today, but I don't know if I missed a packet 3? I just noticed that the timeline section on VJ has two spots that say:

Date Rec Instructions (Pkt 3) :

Date Complete Instructions (Pkt 3) :

so I was assuming packet 3 is the email that confirms your case is complete? This would explain why I haven't gotten one yet- as I was notified of a CC through a second checklist email yesterday. Am I way off? :bonk:

Thank you for reading this/replying. :)

  3. I have a package waiting to be reviewed as well and I received a Case Complete on Monday. My other package was not even scanned until June 6th though, it was just additional documents I forgot.

Did the person that you spoke to say that you will get a new Case Complete date? What do they mean by "update" your case?

    Thanks!

The person I talked to said my file is completed because it meets the criteria for a case completion even with a few documents missing because they can be presented at the time of interview... so I won't get another "case complete date" when they finally open the envelope they have that are containing these documents...

But right now my case says I am missing 2 documents which are sitting in an envelope somewhere in their possession, so once they open that, they'll amend my case and it will still remain *complete* and it will say that my husband will no longer need to bring x document and y document to his interview in London. The agent was very nice and said not to worry, that it won't affect me getting an interview in any way (I was worried with them still working on my documents at NVC that my case was somehow still open and that I couldn't be on the list for an interview.) He also said that this happens often... (weird.) Oh and the agent also said once that last envelope that they have is opened, no matter what is in it, my case will be packaged up and sent off to the London embassy and that they cannot send anything off until all packages are opened on their end.

So going off what this man said, since they got your package in their system before your CC it sounds like you will have to wait for them to open it and and add it to your completed package before mailing it off to your embassy. In the mean time you'll get your interview date.

  4. they said you can bring those items to the interview? so they closed your case?

I just got off the phone and they said that there is still a package they haven't reviewed (weird) and when they do review it they'll update my case and let me know if my husband *really* does need to take anything to the interview. This situation is really weird, lol because I don't know what package triggered the checklist now. Either way he confirmed my case is complete and to wait for our interview date.

  5. they said you can bring those items to the interview? so they closed your case?

Yes, I'm sorry I was trying to post quickly on my break. :) My checklist letter says:

"We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview
date for your case. Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in
LONDON, GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND about your
interview until we give you the date."

I just don't like that the items I have to bring are the two exact items I just submitted in my checklist on May 12th. I don't know if they lost them or they just didn't review them at all.

So my case was closed today and I got the email at 4:05pm EST.
  6. I just got a 2nd checklist... more specifically, the SAME EXACT checklist I got last time, (May 9th) asking for a letter of employment for myself, and my co-sponsor's birth certificate that I forgot to send in the original AOS package. (oops!)

I UPS overnighted both of these off on May 12th and they were scanned into NVC's system on May 15th. Is this a false checklist or did they waste a month of my time reviewing nothing? Should I call them? The checklist email says "Do not submit your new Affidavit of Support to the NVC, as doing so will reopen your case and cause processing delays." But does not say anything about calling, I don't know if calling would cause issues. I don't know what to do. :(

Thank GOD they said my husband can bring the items to the interview but now I have to ask my boss for another letter of employment- which I really didn't want to do the first time around.

  7. I'd be curious to know as well. Has anyone traveled during this step without getting hassled? I know it's their job to look out for people who are trying to sneak in but our experience made me uncomfortable...

My hubby came to visit me here in Las Vegas during the USCIS stage, but he had a layover in Minneapolis which is where he had to go through customs and they gave him such a hard time. He brought all of our documentation with our USCIS case number to show them we were going about it the right way and they drilled him with tons of questions and harassed him to the point where he got so nervous. He wasn't expecting this because every other time through customs he had been just fine. I filled out most of the paperwork so my husband couldn't remember what kind of visa we had applied for (CR1) and the guy interviewing him wouldn't accept that. They were going to send him back to England until they got a hold of me on my cellphone at work. I had to answer 10+ questions and explain that my husband is awful with paperwork (lol) so I've been doing it all! The guy interviewing was so rude, I was shaking. He was questioning everything I was saying, and I thought I was going to cry, but ultimately, he said something like, "thank you ma'am your answers match Daniel's, I'll let him through." Thank God he gave him a break and let him through but I wasn't aware we had to answer questions just for a vacation, jeez.. It was like a mini interview, I'd be interested to know if other people go through this as well?

We are now scared to have my hubby fly during the NVC stage, and I can't travel because of my work schedule and I don't have much time off.

  8. Thanks for the reply, for real? They did not even sent out any email saying they changed it. I am the Beneficiary though and My address is really important during NVC stage because of the interview but will try to check with them from time to time.

No, I did not receive an email response after requesting a change of address. I have emailed them 3-4 times about various things and I have never received any replies. When I called NVC they apologized but that was it. At least my address was changed. Since you are the beneficiary, just make sure to call and check that it has been changed. :)

Also, if you are changing your address through mail, like someone suggested: I sent in a copy of my passport to ATTN: DR to change my last name to my husband's last name and they have had it for over a month now and have not changed my last name. I have called many times and they just say that they received *a* document in mid April and that's all they can really say... So, I'm glad I chose the email way to change my address because it takes them a while to physically view documents and letters sent to them. :P
