  1. We contacted them and they specifically asked for the original so we sent it to the address above via Rush Shipment. Hoping for the best. Thanks for your help!
  2. My brother had his interview two days ago in Rio and the immigration officer held on to his passport and the only thing missing is my brother's son (petitioner) original birth certificate. They said to simply submit that and he will be approved but how? Does it have to be mailed in since they are not accepting our attempt at submitting certified translated and photocopies? The travel.gov website says: Sending documents to the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro If you need to send us any documents, you can mail them to U.S. Consulate General, Immigrant Visa Unit, Av. Presidente Wilson 147 Castelo, Rio de Janeiro RJ 20030-020. Is this the way? Is there a way to submit this electronically?
  3. I definitely misinterpreted it. So as long as he travels and establishes domicile, the application is still valid?
  4. So by him doing that the current application will still be valid? How long until it expires after an officer requests more information?
  5. Actually no, it did not as we were under the impression that it's something that would be done once he was here. At this point, I assume he should pick one few off the list you posted that can be done with him out of the country?
  6. Previous thread here for more context. So my brother's son (US citizen by birth) is currently residing in Brazil and since turning 21 recently, he petitioned for my brother, also in Brazil so both can immigrate again to the US. The case was submitted through the NVC with a mistake being made on the I-130 at the beginning where the son entered my (uncle living in the US) address as his current residence. We were advised here in the thread above to correct the address on the next step/application. Everything was submitted to NVC but some items returned. The most notable and worrisome is this one: PETITIONER might not have a principal residence or be domiciled in the United States. Please submit proof of domicile. For more information on domicile requirements, visit https://nvc.state.gov/fin. As noted above, he is currently in Brazil so technically, not domiciled in the US as he left at a very early age. What should be done here to prove domicile? Apologies if this question is very obvious. Also, there were about 5 messages sent through the portal asking to correct a few things but when viewing the documents section of the portal, only two files show a DECLINED. Should we do everything being asked through the messages or only submit the files that show DECLINED?
  7. Hello, On I-864 Part 6, how to handle question 7 (My current individual income is:) when a person is a co-sponsor and file their tax returns jointly?
  8. As the title says, I can't fill out certain parts of the I-864 specially the Sponsor's Physical Address. I have tried Adobe Reader and a few other apps. A search on this forum suggested I use DocHub which indeed works but any idea why this is happening? Am I doing something I am not supposed to?
  9. I assume by just filling out the correct information and they will catch the mistake and adjust or will he have to make a note of it?
  10. He has not. He has never worked and is currently in school. Would that suffice as a reason for not filling (no income)? Why does he have to complete his own I-864? Pardon the question in advance. Since the time he left...nearly an infant...
  11. You reply so fast lol (appreciated). I just noticed you indeed agree that it needs to be corrected. At this stage though, how can this be done?
  12. The I-130 was already approved. The case is now at the NVC. We just received the instructions on how to start paying the first two fees: Affidavit of Support (AOS) Fees IV Application Processing Fees @Mike E This reminds me on the step we are on. Should indeed the application be corrected at this stage?
  13. Makes sense. Got scared for a moment when I saw deed on a home. So I think he meant any or a combination of those.
  14. Apologies for not understanding this earlier. I think you mean at the time of travel, they must both be present to the Customs and Border Protection agent. Do you recommend all of the above? Is there a resource I can read more about what's accepted as domicile?
  15. So for a country like Brazil, what would your recommendation be? I see that you are knowledgeable in this area and would trust your advice 100%. I plan on sponsoring his son. That should be okay?
  16. OMG Mike, you bring such good news! 😀 So is it advisable that the son enters first? Their plan was to literally go to the interview together if there are no bumps with the application and enter the US together. Plus, is there any corrections that should be made with the address mistake?
  17. So my brother's son was born in the US but left at a really early age. Now my brother wants to come here with him now that he is over 21 and we both thought that he could petition for him while his son, the US citizen was abroad. On the I-130 it asked for an address in the US, which I believe should have been his current address but we entered mine (US based) since we thought it was something that was needed for communications to be sent. Now the case has been sent to the NVC (approved) but thankfully we caught it early. Is he out of luck? Does he son needs to enter the US first and start all over?
