Eric-Pris,
I don't think you need to be that personal. You cannot say "Honestly" unless you know her personally, familiar with her case, and know that she is hiding something. DNA may cost $500 but that $500 could probably go towards something else that she may need to pay for to see her case
completed. I know for me, US$500 is approx. JA$50,000. That is not easy to come up with when the clock is working against you.
I agree with Extremehappiness. Being negative is only going to make you even more depressed. Look at the positive side...if the CO wanted a DNA test, they would have asked you to do it and bring back the results...then you would have no choice but to do it. Talk to relatives and see if someone can produce pictures, or would be willing to write and AoS for you. Think positive my dare.
Virtuous45 I thank you for your kind words and I will make sure that I remove the negative and retain the positive. Eric-Pris: Thank you for responding. It's not that easy to come up with US $500.00 BUT I will continue to pray that everything works in my favor . I thank you all

I understand how you feel because I maybe had one pic of myself with my dad when i was growing up and like you I have no idea where that pic was...I guess maybe because he wasn't in my life I really never care....however regarding your fear that he might not be your father...have you talked to your mom about this?...you should and if she can guarantee you that he is your father then you shouldn't worry.....you also said you don't have the money for the DNA....can't your dad or your step mom help you with that?....and as to the fear that he might not be your dad and you would have done this all in vain...how about you think about the positive side of this and say if he turn out to be your dad then you can finalize this long drawn out journey and it will then all be worth it....think positive and just continue on the journey....don't give up until there is nothing else left for you to do...nothing beat a trial but a failure.......do all you can do so in the end you can say you tried your very best....best of luck on your continued journey.
Extreme Happiness I thank you so much for your kind words. My dad and I fortunately live together but we never see it necessary to take any photos together as I'm not the " fussy type " I have features of him and I will stop think negative about our biological relationship. As it relates to the monetary side of it.. my step mom unfortunately does not make enough money and I've used up all my savings during this process. My dad has his financial matters to take care of BUT this morning.. I prayed to God and I've asked him to bring me through and I know with God everything is possible. Guys Thanks a lot
PS VJ: I'm a male and my step mom and dad have been taking care of me since I was about 1 year as my mom was in the hospital and couldn't. My mom later died when I was about 4 or 5 years.
Mikey - I hope this all works out for you.
Thank you so much for your kind words

It is extremely unusual not to have any photos with your dad.... is it just that YOU don;t have any, or that you have never met him after you were a baby? If it is the first, reach out to family and friends to see if they have any photos.
We had some photos but they got misplaced and we cannot find them, but II'll ask family and friends. Thanks

Hi VJ ever since I've been on this site you guys have helped me a lot and I want to thank you all. you guys are a blessing... now to my story:
My journey started on Feb 22 2013 when my step mom filed the i130, It was approved there after and while at NVC we got a check list because she didn't put the date on the AOS form! Finally it was approved. On the day of the interview, the CO said that everything was OK but just two small problems...My dad put his name on my Birth Certificate 7 years after I was born and so because Jamaica is a High Fraud country he needed proof of relationship.Thank fully he didn't request DNA instead he asked for me to get pictures of me and my dad together. The only pic I had with my dad was when he was holding me when I was a baby, sadly he has been looking for it and cannot find it...The CO also requested that I get a form from my school with my dad name on it... that I have.. he also needed Joint sponsor and that I have.. Right now I don't know what to do... because sadly I don't have the money to do DNA and i'm afraid he might NOT be my dad and then everything would go to waste.. I don't know what to do... I'm depressed ! Thank you all for reading and Have a great journey

Your woman needs a ""rude awakening call""..,. do you want to go to the USA.,.,.or not! YOUR VISA expires tomorrow, they do not care how your hair looks! DO YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH K-1 VISA AGAIN, JUST TO GET YOUR HAIR DONE????????
Your fiancé' is not realistic, and is living in a fantasy world,.,.,YOU need to feed her a dose of reality.,..,.,and soon,.,.,.,!!!!
I AGREE 110% with what you said!! hair can be done later! a hat can do ! there are a lot of stores in the USA! she can wear a wig for the time being!

I have a questions if anybody is still out there:
I found out that I don't technically need to meet my stepdaughter (it would not be advisable for me to go to her country for various reasons). I have/am trying to form a relationship through weekly 10 minute or so phone calls. What kind of questions were asked in the interview for your stepchild who is 13 years old if you don't mind my asking? When I talk to her I want to talk like her friend, not like I am prepping her for an interview (we are family after all!) But I am nervous that the kind of questions they might ask her wont come up in normal conversation.
Who is your petitioner ?
Have you ever meet your step dad ?
Are you excited to go over there ?
The mother or dad who accompanies the child will answer the rest. Thanks.
Just checking in, Finally my son is here, we arrive last Monday, after 1 year of this immigration journey.
Thank you everyone for your help.
God bless us all.
And good luck.
Congratulations.. Have a great one!

Hi! I am joining you guys in this forum! I am a USC by naturalization. I sent I 130 for my 2 children (son and daughter: 9 and 7 years old) on September 9th 2013. I received NOA 1 with priority date on September 11th 2013. After that, I have not heard or received anything. How long will it take before I receive NOA2??? It's been more than 2 months now and I've heard people usually get NOA2 like 2 months after.
What should I do? Should I just wait or call? Thank you for your help.
Hi Riro! Welcome!.. I would suggest that you allow more time, but you can give them a call to find out if there is any update. Thanks.

addition, if you are a Jamaican resident and are seeking a visa in a category that requires you to beunmarried (IR2, IR3, IR4, F11, F22, or F24) and you are aged 18 or older, you can present aCertificate of No-Impediment to Marriage issued by the Registrar General’s Department onsecurity paper.....Question: Is this mandatory ? and if so..Do you know how long it takes ? Thanks in advancePS: I'm 19 -

I am a USC married to a filipina since 2010. I filed I-130's for three of my stepchildren in March 2013. They were all under 18 when we married and one turns 21 in November 2013. I noticed last week on the USCIS website that the type of VISA I petitioned for is being handled in Vermont and they are working on OCT 2012 cases now. I thought I would be at the NVC level by now and perhaps have their VISA's by christmas. I called USCIS and spoke to someone who told me to just wait for notification. He also told me I need not worry about my 20 year old ageing out. Looking at a few other timelines here on VJ it appears to me that my case is takeing a while longer then others. Am I just paranoid or am I correct? Does anyone have any tips on how to speed up my process?
Thanks,
Don
Hey welcome to our group ! Now it seems as if your case is taking awhile as by now you should be at the NVC stage. I suggest you give USCIS about 1-2 weeks then call to find out the updated status.. Now, sometimes the information on the USCIS website is not really relevant as my case was completed in almost 3 months and most other cases here. Since as your child entered the system before he reaches 21 you don't have to worry as for immigration purposes he/she is still under 21. Have a good day

Hey guys! I hope all is well with your immigration journey. I can't find my immunization card and I want to know if it's mandatory to bring your immunization card to the medical exam ? Will they test you if you don't ? were you in this situation before ? if yes.. what did you do ? Thanks guys and have a great day

Hey guys. I'm sorry for not posting frequently. Have been working a lot! we sent the AOS on July 30,2013 and on the 21st of August we received an email that we didn't put the date beside the signature! smh.. I work in customer service for a popular insurance company in the USA and when the doctors send things electronically it would process in 2 to 3 days. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE NVC HAS TO TAKE 20 BUSINESS DAYS!!! TO PROCESS SOMETHING SENT ELECTRONICALLY. It's RIDICULOUS!! and they need to do better! sickening man!!!! kmt!! smh!!
PS: I'm sure you guys can agree how frustrating it is. Best wishes to all

Questions your mom may be asked are:
Where does the petitioner work ?
What does the petitioner do for a living?
What is her relationship to the petitioner ?
Has she ever been to the USA ? if so, what's the longest she ever stayed ?
How often does she communicate with the petitioner?
Who will be financing the trip ?
Good luck to your mom

Hi Mikey,
I, like the others, don't think you will be asked for a DNA. I hope not, at least! I, too, filed for my son back in April. Seeing your timeline has given me hope that perhaps we will hear something before this month is over. He is a little boy, so I am hoping the process goes as smoothly and as quickly as possible. It seems to me yours has. I wish you all the best at your interview. Try to remain calm and be prepared. Let us know how it goes. You will be fine.
Thank you very much
