Sad to say the system is still faulty to this day. My husband got his combo card 10 days ago and we just received a text today that the interview is scheduled for July 1st, 2014 and yet the I-130 status is still in "Initial Review". Grateful to have this thread to reassure me that everything is still on track for the GC! :-)

Got a text at 4:15am (LOL - most of my texts from the USCIS come around this time) that our AOS interview has been scheduled for July 1st, 2014 and that the letter with details has been sent today. I'm so happy with the speed of how things are moving, especially with the RFE setback that pushed us back a month and the fact that I'm in Los Angeles where the immigration rate is so high!
@kcsjoseph - I see that your status progressed to interview and testing! That's so great your application is progressing quickly too!
@lukychmz - how are things with you? If you include your progress in your signature, we'll be able to keep up with you. :-)

Thanks, @kcsjoseph! This is moving along in a more timely manner than I had anticipated! :-)

Cool news - the EAD card came today, the 19th - just 3 days after we received the text with tracking number! We also received another text today that we are in line for interview scheduling! Whoooo! :-D

Hi, guys! Just a little update - I received a text on May 16th, 2014 that the EAD card was sent on and we were given a tracking number. The notice said that if the card isn't received in 7 days, we need to contact the office. How fast and cool is that???
Now.... if I could only get an interview date!!! ;-)

@lkychmz - That's so great that you were able to get your biometrics done early and easily!
My timeline is saying that we received the I-765 and I-131 approval in 68 days. It would've been faster if we didn't have to deal with the RFE, which took another month because we had to wait for my sponsor's 2013 tax returns. I'm going to be watching the updates like a hawk, though, because I don't want to miss anything regarding the interview. I know it's rare, but I've read nightmare stories about members not receiving their interview appointment notices in the mail and getting denied because of it!

Just wanted to let you guys know that we received texts that my husband's I-765 and I-131 were approved today! It's a step in the right direction! However, some of the gold members of this group have mentioned that these approvals are "routine" and they have no bearing on the final decision for the Greencard. However, every bit of good news helps, right? This is actually moving pretty quickly, especially because everything was delayed with the RFE request. I'll continue to keep you posted. Stay hopeful, everyone!

No, not yet! I've heard of people getting replies as early as 6 days after a response to an RFE is filed, but it can take up to 60 days after they receive it! Seriously, the government frightens me with the bureaucracy! I'll keep you guys posted. You keep us posted too! Good luck to all of us!

Good luck! We received texts within 5 days of mailing our packages via FedEx, and we received the formal notices in the mail about 10 days later. About 3 weeks later, I received a text that an RFE notice was being mailed to me, and I received that notice a week later requesting the 2013 tax filings from our joint sponsor (when we first mailed the packages on March 6th, my joint sponsor had not yet filed her 2013 tax return so we submitted her W-2s and 1099s hoping that would suffice - no cigar!). We just mailed it in last Thursday 4/24/14, and I received the text that they received the package on 4/28/14. We're now waiting patiently for the next steps (which I pray is the appointment for our interview, which I know we'll pass with flying colors because my husband and I have been together for more than 7 years!). I can't wait until this whole process is finished!

Thank you, Harpa - I appreciate your feedback. I will be sure to send your advice to the accountant to make sure that he submits a complete tax return for both 2012 and 2013. I know that joint sponsor and I both sent our 2012 tax transcripts, but I read that this would be sufficient. Crazy how there are always these little nuances to every request! Crossing my fingers for both Orang4 and myself!

@Harpa Timsah - I thought so too but Orang4 and I both got RFE for the "most recent tax return" when we both submitted returns for 2012 so I just want to be super sure and careful for my own submission because I definitely do not have another $1070 to refile. I'm going to call the hotline to reconfirm, but I'm thinking I'm going to submit tax returns for 2013 AND 2012 to cover my bases.

Hi, there! I've been following your thread since you first posted in the forum and I wanted to make a comment. I filed my husband's I-485 with tax returns for 2010, 2011, and 2012 on March 6th and have also just received an RFE requesting tax returns for the "most recent tax year", which I am assuming is 2013. I plan to call the hotline to be super sure, but it sounds to me that the reason why you got denied is because you sent tax returns for 2012 and they wanted returns for 2013 because they started reviewing your paperwork so late in 2013. I hate that they don't specify WHICH year and that should be grounds for you to be appeal. $1070 to refile is not cheap and it's their fault for not specifying WHICH year, right? I wish that it would clearly state on the site: "If you apply late in the year or early in the year, wait until your tax returns are complete before you file because we're going to ask for them!"
Your application will most likely go through perfectly this time, but -seriously- there should be some kind of recourse for the first application because it's their fault for not specifying which year's returns when you filed Fall 2013 and at that time, 2012 WAS the most recent year! Good luck to you!

Yes, it feels like the USCIS system is glitching a bit. I received two texts back to back about my husband's EAD, which he received in the mail 10 days ago. Hmmmmmm....
