  1. What exactly are the requirements of a K1 Visa? I read everywhere about some of the exact requirements but the language is very unclear.

If someone receives a K1 Visa, enters the country, then leaves within 60 days without marrying is it impossible for them to ever get a IR-1/CR-1 Visa if they do marry later on in another country?

It's possible, you can still get married and apply for CR-1 even if you forfeit your K1 visa and left without marrying

Is the Visa good for only one time or is the 90 days cumulative? Say you visit for 30 days, leave, come back then you must get married in 60 days?

It's a ONE time entry visa. it's NOT MULTIPLE entry visa.

Do the couple that apply for the Visa need to show proof they are planning a wedding? If not do they need to show proof they even intend on getting married?

No, not necessarily showing your wedding plans and all but the CO might ask about your wedding plan. You will be signing the letter of intent when filing your initial I-129F package.

  2. Hey everyone,

As my fianceé and I prepare for her interview date now less than a month away I'm sure many of you can imagine or have experienced the stress/anxiety/excitement of this process. I have a few quick questions concerning the interview:

My fianceé suffers from hyperthyroidism. When she has her medical exams done, Im sure they will include this. Should this in anyway affect the decision of the consulate to grant or deny the visa?

I too have the same issue at my medical stage. I have asthma and the doctor said he need to personally courier my medical to the embassy and could not give me a copy of my medical.

Also, my mother will be co-sponsoring my fianceé with the I134 affidavit of support. She will submit a W-2 form along with other pay stubs, letter from employer, bank statements, bank letter etc. Her W-2 form for the past year has still not arrived. Can she send a W-2 from 2012?

Yes, she can submit those of 2012 but if your 2013 W2 is ready and you want to take them with you. That's okay too. The consulate will understand that 2013 W2 isn't that ready yet to be submitted since it's really close to the interview.

Thank you so much for your help!

    Journeying together with you,

    Mitchell

  3. It's so nice to see everyone help each other on this community!

@Janice&Micah: Just out of curiosity, where are you getting this information from? There are loads of different pieces of advice claiming this or that, however some situations may only apply for certain countries. I just want to make sure that information isn't based on assumptions, that's all smile.png

@Bristin92: So i'm not sure if this is applicable to you but is your uncle self-employed? I'm only asking this because in the current instructions form of the I-134 it states that if self-employed a tax return is needed. My fiancee and I had the same question because we also have a co-sponsor. To ensure that the interview has what they need I called the Amsterdam consulate to ask their advice on this. The lady told me that they won't deviate from the instructions, so no tax return is needed unless the sponsor is self employed. I just wanted to make sure that this piece of information is coming directly from the consulate which follows USCIS regulations for the I-134.

Is the bio-page of the US passport a requirement? I haven't seen it listed anywhere so I would just want to make sure that we won't be overcompensating information!

    Thanks

I just do a lot of reading and summarized what i read from every consulate. Most of the consulate wants them. I am not answering for consulate specific. It's just a guide where everyone tries to follow. You can ignore my advice if it does not apply to you. I learned from the more experience VJ member and come to help others if I know the answer to it.
