  1. I was on here 3 years ago struggling with a nasty abusive marriage. My vawa was approved and I've been a resident for 3 years now. I went back to school and got my degree as a registered nurse.

Sandra probably doesn't remember this but she's been a huge part of my success. I used to call her crying because I was having such a hard time. She helped me all along both emotionally and legally. I checked back today for the first time in 3 years and I see that she is still helping others with their cases. How generous!? Dedicating your time like this to so many people in need! Thank you so much Sandra for all you've done for me. Without your help, I probably wouldn't be able to go back to school and stay in this wonderful country full of opportunity. You have made a difference in my life. Now I'm on my way to becoming a US citizen. I will start school again here in November to pursue a degree as a nurse practitioner.

Don't get discouraged people! I went through hell with my ex. The DV was so extreme that I never thought I would make it out alive. I never thought I would go back to school let alone be a nurse. My ex often said often how dumb I was and how I would never be anything. This negative image was glued in my head. As a result, I stopped going to school for 5 years.

I know they are a lot of you on here who are suffering and don't see the light at the end of the tunnel but I say to you guys that this situation is only temporary. Being a DV victim doesn't define you on what you'll be able to accomplish in life. Matter of fact, it helps you be stronger and makes you feel like you can do anything. I lived in a shelter for 3 months to protect my unborn baby. I didn't have anything under my name. I didn't have a job and my family was abroad and they couldn't help financially. I was unsure about the future of my baby. But with the help of people who see potential in me and a lot of prayers, I was able to battle through it all. I will always remember Sandra as God sent angel.

Good luck to everyone on here. Keep up the faith. Don't loose sight on your goals and your dreams. All will be well! God bless you Sandra✌❤

  2. Congratulations anajnic!!! I'm so happy for you:) good things will come your way now...

That's awesome you had a French interviewer. Mine was American. She was very intimidated. The interview took about 1 hour and i could have been screwed without my attorney's presence because my case was so complicated. Just like you i submitted my biometrics with all my papers at the very beginning and they stay valid until the end of the process, Valid for 3 years.

glory to the almighty!!! Go out and celebrate. today is a big day girlie:)

  3. Hi Vawa peeps.I pray all is well.Hang in there.I thought all was lost when I realize that my marriage was over and my immigration was over.I felt hopeless dent know what to do .I let it go and trusted in God. One day I was in the gym when I met this woman and in talking she told me what she did.I then told her my prob and my situation.( she was the director of immigration for the senator).I made an appointment , saw her, she did all my paperwork and sent it off.I am writing this because there was nooo hope before until I met this lady that God directed in my life.Ddnt know about Vawa, thought all was lost. All is NOT lost ,God is on the throne .We are all here and though we may have delays, all things are working together for those that serve and love God.My life s a testimony of Gods faithfulness in this journey.Dont give up,one day at a time,be patient . its gonna work out #datisall#

  4. I was in a situation very similar to Panama-guy. My husband called the police on me for defending myself I was 7 months pregnant when he started pushing on my belly and hurting me. I bite him to try to get him off of me. He got extremely mad at me, he shook me as hard as he could, grabbed my phone, close himself in the bathroom (probably to make the bite marks more visible). When the cops came, they charged me with domestic violence because they didn't see any marks on me. They didn't arrest me because I was pregnant but I was still charged. Back then, I was ready to do whatever it takes to defend my baby. The cops we're stupid too, because they could have looked his record to see how he was arrested because of badly hitting me or maybe I was the one who was stupid for going back to him after suffering from him abusing me.

This was really an eye opener for me. I was lucky to have a domestic violent advocate who fought for me. Plus the people at the shelter I was staying at helped me a lot. My case was later dismissed after fulfilling all the volunteer works they have asked of me.

When I was in labor at the hospital, he came over to try to get me back. He couldn't control his temper and was pushing and hurting me in front of the nurses. The nursing staffs called the cops and he was banned from the hospital. I file a protective order against him. Child protective service was involved.

It was really a long story. I will not enough space to explain it. But anyway, he started abusing right after we got married. I have suffered a lot. Now I don't have anything to worry about because he is now in my past. I have my freedom, im safe and I have my green card. Glory to our heavenly father because he is great and he never forgets us in our trials. Hang in there Panama-guy. God will deliver you from your trials. At the end, your trials will turn into blessings. You will be strong and you will be able to move forward. Don't be discouraged, God is good and he sees it all. Nobody can foul him. Glory to God. I God was able to help me like this when I was in this deep dark place, he will help you too. However you need to have faith and pray everyday for victory. God bless you Panama-guy. I was in this situation and I totally understand where you coming from.

Good luck to everyone on visa journey. "Petit a petit l'oiseau fait son nid"

  5. Congratulations on all the approvals!!! Im very confident all the cases here on visa journey will be approved. Hold on tight guys. Hold on just a little longer.

I think the wating time is different in every state. Like in my case it took me about 2 years and half to get my greeencard without biometrics renewal. It was weird because most of you on this journey has been asked to renew so I was waiting even after my interview for them to ask before sending the GC, but they never did. I guess they deal with every cases differently. Like some takes longer, some shorter.....??? Doesn't make much sens

  6. Just wondering if your status for AOS never showed any update till may 14,2013 .And what about the medical when did you sent it , did they not ask

    for medical again too?

"God is the healer of all.Glory to the God"

I sent the medical at the beginning along with i486, i360, and others. They never asked me for renewal. I read somewhere on the trend that they would ask but didn't. Doors that that mean they can still ask me then even though they'll be sending my green card in the mail? It just doesn't make send. I wonder if anyone has ever gone trough a similar situation....
  7. Can you like tell one of the questions asked?

If wasn't the first time I applied for immigration benefits which make it confusing and they were a lot of changes on my case with me being divorced to my ex. I remarried and my daughter was adopted by my new husband. Plus my ex husband had me charged for defending myself while I was pregnant....and so forth. So.many things that make mycase take forever at the interview. She digged deeper into it. She wanted to make sure I was telling the whole truth.

They asked me questions like how did you meet your new husband? They asked questions about the adoptions. The first thing they did was asking me to identify myself which I had to do under 3 different last names...

  8. Thank you everyone. This is my timeline. Please let me know of you guys have any questions or if I forget to include something in the timeline

    Receipt date: June 6, 2011

    Work permit: sept 26, 2011

    RFE received: August 19, 2011

    Vawa approved: August 29, 2012

Case transferred to my local office: May 14, 2013

AOS interview date: July 30, 2013

Green card document production: July 31, 2013

The officer was very nice, but she was very strict. She didn't let anything go. I felt that the help of my attorney was crucial. When she asks me a question I wasn't sure about, I look at my attorney and she helped me answer it.

At the end of the interview she said she would issue me a visa and that I should receive my green card in the mail within 10 days.

By the way, I only had to do my biometrics just once. I didn't have to renew anything. I submitted everything at the very beginning and they never asked for renewal.

  9. I went to my i485 interview today and I got approved!!!!! I was told ny GC will get in the mail in about 10 days. I am so happy this journey is finally over for me:) to all of you guys who got approved, congratulations and to those who have not been yet, hang in there. God got control over everything. Please have faith. Good things happen to those who patiently and diligently wait. I love you guys! Thank you all for the help you guys provided me with. Listen to Sandra, she is sent by God to help and lift us up on visa journey. Love you Sandra:)

  10. Cielo14 thank you! My caws was approved in August 2012. My case was was transferred to my local office in May 14th. I will make sure I put a timeline so everyone can see when all is done.

Anajnic, don't worry, your turn will come up soon. Keep checking with your attorney, cause you might not be able to see am update on the website, like I didn't see one myself. My attorney sent me an email and let me know. Thank you guys:)

  11. Good for you faithkeeper! At least, you have one that's not expired and it's not too late to apply for benefits. I'm happy for you.

In my case I ended up passing on scholarships, grant money for school, public housing etc I mean a kitbag things that could have helped a single woman that is trying to do everything on her own. Anyway, when I knew about it and called her, my first reaction was to be really mean to her but I remember how she was comforting me when I came to her with my case so I dropped it. Plus, they are the catholic charity people that are helping with mycase. I didn't have to pay them too much. So im grateful that I didn't have to pay 1000 of $
